Hello. My name is Silas Morand and I'm wanting to purchase my first MTS welder. Is the Everlast lightning mts 275 just like this machine, but stronger? Ive been looking at the Everlast lightning mts 275 for quite some time now and I'm highly considering it. Does it have the same consumables as this machine like the nova foot pedal?
Thanks..
Is the power cord removable or permanent mount?
The best welding channel where they show the welding process in amazing quality! Respect
I just bought this exact same machine 3 weeks ago, absolutely love it, I haven't got the tig set up but Mig and stick run great. Well done review !
Just want to say thanks for continuing to produce valuable content that helps inform and make purchasing decisions right now. Really appreciate it. I feel like you've been getting better at being the primary presenter each episode. Don't worry about the trolls and negative Nancy's - you are doing just fine! 🤚🏼 High five and keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support 🙏
Thanks Super Slo
Hey dude, you are doing a great job “in relief” for the other guys. Good on ya!
Take a deep breath and relax more often.
Your doing an excellent job!
bought their 520 three in one... wanted the plasma mostly and the stick... The tig was a bonus and I had never tried it before . Thought I had died and gone to heaven... a non violent process was just another world after decades of mig and stick… just a hobby welder now. The stick was what sold me... nice welds. The plasma is impressive and cuts thick 1/2" no problem and will hack it's way through 3/4". I'm still learning the tig process.
That machine looks perfect for the welding bench I just put together. The dual gas feature is awesome. Now, I gotta save some pennies.
I bought one after watching this vid!
I didn't think a machine existed that was multi and had AC tig, and 2 gas ports!!!
It even comes with the pedal, and the touch switch that I haven't seen on others I looked at.
I found it weird that there's no tungsten supplied with it but there's everything else for the torch.
Can't wait to try it out.
Please tell us how it's going? Inquiring minds want to know!!!
@@armurano5093 sorry to leave you hangin. I didn't try it out yet, but I lent it to a buddy to do some MIG hole filling he is doing on his project car and he LOVES it!!!
With spring coming, I'll probably be using it a fair bit in a coupe months, and should be able to give some better feedback.
GREAT review! Good quality video too! I bought the 210 EXT for my shop here at home for my channel as well, I love it! Everlast for the win!
I bought an Everlast 251si about 2 years ago and absolutely love it. It's a little over 100 lbs with a 33lb spool and will run some thick material on 110v even thicker on 220v. I'd compare the power and quality to the Lincoln powermig256 except it does stick and Tig and is about $1000 cheaper plus 150lbs lighter. Go Everlast
I been thinking about getting this machine. Is it worth the money.
@@claudemaggard7162 Hey Claude. I'm still rocking my 251si and it's still working exceptionally. I am doing mild steel shielded mig work 95% of the time and the machine is great. I like being able to adjust pre and post flow for shielding gas which helps when working outside in the wind. I didn't have that option on the Lincoln powermig.
@@steveneldridge6787 thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I'm definitely gonna buy that machine. Is it a heavy machine.
@@claudemaggard7162 it's a little over 100lbs with a 33lb spool. Much lighter than a comparable 250amp machine. I can load and move it myself which is nice.
Absolute awesome job on the review man. Fast paced, great shots and I could here you pretty clear under the hood impressions.
Ian thanks man. Thanks for watching weld.com. Stay healthy
ManCub Welder Oh wow! Thank you too ManCub!
My EverLast 256s has been one of the best investments and additions to our shop. Wow this new Lighting is is awesome!! Since I am nearing 70, thinking the wive would kill me if a new Lighting was to arrive,,,hehe!!
I've got one the Everlast first gen MTS welders and thought they couldn't get any better. I really want to get one these new ones.
Wow, this kind of review about welding machine is really helpful! Could you do more reviews?
Great review and test. I like seeing more mancub always entertaining when I'm bored in quarantine
Thanks for watching
Thanks.. lol
One of the best demo videos I’ve seen on RUclips. Keep up the goodwork. I hit like and subscribe.
Great presentation, good product. Thank you for helping all the welders in their choices.
I started welding two months ago and this pandemic has made me stay home and I am not able to weld. I just watch as much as I can so that when I resume, I am doing well.
Tough times for sure.. hang in there. Watch as many videos as you can, it'll be over and we'll all be back ripping soon!
@@PacificArcTigWelding Does watching still help? I watch so much in a single day so that I don't forget about it.
And I'm in school for welding. They've cancelled summer school so I won't be able to take stick until the fall. 😑 I really need to get my own welder...
@@yesshewelds2425 I also thought the same until I saw the prices of these welders. They are hella expensive. Like my folks spend all their savings on my course and I am not ready to ask them for a welder. I hope to get some money as I save for one coz these things don't come in cheap.
@@arnoldkokonya you're absolutely right. I was looking at a few multi-use welders and oh my glob...the prices were astronomical. I want to start off small now so I'm probably gonna grab a MIG. Just to stay on my toes. I'm in the degree program and the discounts for students is great. One of our teachers has a friend at AirGas and he gets us excellent deals. If not for that, 👎
Nice quick run down. Thanks. Good job.
Great review! I do miss Bob’s sarcasm though...
Bob is still the King
@@darkforcex7362 bob will remain the King, and Jody the Godfather. But Mancub has really stepped up here lately, hes paving a bright road ahead of him
i do miss bob too. he is funny as hell, he must have many good stories to tell.
Bob seems to have ventured over to ESAB
ruclips.net/video/4hXOOQ8LbZE/видео.html
Has a few recent vids on their channel
The crew they have might be the best they’ve ever had. But Bob is the legend.
Cub, u have been steppin it up here lately, I TOLD U that u would! Gettin better everytime, less nerves in your voice, nice beads, and hey, nice shave! Hahaha lookin professionally Mancubby! Keep it up brother!
You do a good job explaining the menu items on the digital displays. There are very few shots of the electrodes hook ups from below. Can you share the hook ups for AC stick welding, DC stick welding, etc?
Great video. Whatever the machine presented, although you like this one, your content is up to the other guys, friend of yours and all. Second to none. Miss the rest of the team anyways. Stay safe, behind doors.
Good review. Your presentation is getting much better.
Thanks Tommy T
Excellent review Mancub. Looking forward to getting your thoughts on the advanced pulse features. 💚
as someone looking to purchase one of these welders I appreciate the video I would really like to see a side beside comparison of this and the 221 sti what you get with one that you dont with the other and why I should consider this over that and so on again thanks for the videos
I got mine last week by accident I actually ordered the everlast 221 sti but recieved the mts 225 for some odd reason. I also notice the price change on the one I actually wanted it dropped to 1,800 when it originally cost 2000 I'm thinking that's probably why I got the mts225 because it now cost 2000. it's a good welder and I'm looking forward to learning more with all the extra functions .
Thanks for the presentation!
You're very welcome
I like this guy, he hauled ass through the review, and gave all the info you need! edit: just saw below this dude's nickname is ManCub... I like him even more now, lol
Awesome thorough review there!
I wish this beast would be sold and serviced in Australia?
One box that can do it all!
Thank you for showing this.
It is for sale in Australia everlast out of Melbourne
Im a hobby welder at best, I only understood half of the settings. Do you have a video explaining them and when/why to use them?
I bought one of these , 1st job repair a aluminum pontoon worked good .
Great demonstration's...
Great demo thanks
is it just me that I find just the sound of mig welds are so satisfying..
I have there stick welder and it’s great.
I'm impressed with my 210STL.
Awesome, I just picked up the everlast powerpro256 si multi process machine. I burnt a few sticks, I have alot to learn. It has arcforce, I don't know what that is.
I had 3/32 6011 & 6013 & ran it at 130 amps on 1/2 inch. Funny watch a long rod disappear in 7 seconds
Hey Man Cub your skills are improving. Weldings not too bad either😄😄. Keep it up
I want to purchase a MTS 221 sti. Do you know the spec differences beween the 221 and the 225?
Hey guys. What is that green hold down bar called? I've seen it before in other videos but can't seem to find it anywhere.
Dual gas is an awesome option. Truly an amazing machine. I have a 185 DV for AC/DC Tig and the separate mig. While that's an amazing shop machine having more compact DV machines are my preference.
This guy can weld, and knows what he's talking about!
How do you think this machine compares to a multimatic 220? I'm just curious as to your opinion. If you had to choose between the two, which one would you pick?
Hey nice video but my question from a pipe welder running 6010 root to 7018 hot & cover how does that machine run without switching every time you go from 6010 to 7018
can this machine be used for cold wielding?
Love my MTS221Sti that I bought last May. BUT. Should have waited a year for the 225 Lightning. Oh, well!😎
Good job ManCub!
Can this run dual-shield flux-core or only self-shielding/no gas?
This has to be the best Review of any machine I've have ever seen. Great production guys. You got my sub.
Thanks for the support
IT'S MY FIRST WELDER AND AS A BEGINNER I DON'T SEE MYSELF EVER NEEDING TO BUY ANOTHER ONE .... PERIOD.... IT HAS IT ALL!!!! I ALSO GOT THE POWERCOOL 400, CART, AND THE PARKER 360 SPOOL GUN.... ALL SET.... EXCEPT OUT OF THE 17 MILLION DOLLARS THAT WAS SPENT ON ME GOING THRU SPECIAL FORCES Q COURSE AND TRAINING.... THEY NEVER SHOWED ME HOW TO WELD.... HMMMM .... THANK GOD FOR WELD.COM, WELDING TIPS & TRICKS (JODY), THE FABRICATION SERIES, THE FAB FORUMS, ETC. HOPEFULLY ILL FIGURE IT OUT!!!! LOL
Remember, if it sounds like your "cooking bacon" your doing good.
My first welder, bought back in 1974 when I was 18 for $49.99 and was a Lincoln 220 "buzz box."
Later on I picked up a used Miller 250 AC/DC-HF Tig metallic syncrowave that came with the four roller industrial mig unit and stick leads....it welds great, but is heavy to move around and it's hard to find parts for as it was made around 1966...plus the cable to amp indicator is broken and I just "crank by feel," then look at the weld & adjust.
My next welder is a Hobart 160 AC/DC stick which I recently hooked up my Tig to....works ok, but not like the Miller.
Since Harbor Freight came in five years ago I've been looking at other options than the high dollar machines.
This machine looks awesome.
Nice. video. You used angle iron on the weld cart. Machines simply slide in.. they never fall through or go anywhere but within the angle iron..
nice demo thanks
Put my everlast tig and cooler on a power chair base. Best cart ever rolls over everything . Airlines no problem cords no problem . Wicked smooth the foot rest even acts as tank holder base. Whats even more sweet charge up the batteries and use the chair joystick and drive it around . Still not impressed , well installed 2x60 controle board and r.c receiver and remote drive that Bit%$.
Thank you.
Good video, good content, looks like a nice machine!
How do the MTS 225 and MTS 275 compare? Is the MTS 225 so small water cooling isn't as useful? Would pulse MIG have been useful?
Would you recommend the mts 225 or 275? What's the main advantages or disadvantages of the two? There is $500CAD difference between the two... Is it worth upgrading to the 275? Id be using it for starting a side hussle welding and fabricating, when Im not at my 9-5 building custom Aluminium boats.
I am wanting to get one of these but need it to be mobile. Do you have any suggestions on what generator I should get?
Can this machine do dual shielded flux core?
That’s one the tidiest stick welds I’ve ever seen.
Yeah, as someone trying to learn this stuff, thats amazing. Mine still looks like poo....
What is the different between 225 and 275?
Thank You
That was good! 👏🏼
Awesome review, my next welding machine. Sick and tired of proprietary consumables with the “branded” welding machines. Soon, they are going to do what the tractor companies are doing, you’ll need to ask them when you can weld.
Tunin: Completely with you--support "right to repair"! And generic consumables.
can this do 6010 open root?
That's one bad ass green machine💪💪💪
Love that!
Mike, I used to work with you. I just ordered this machine
Does it come with 2 regulators?
I'm guessing you liked the machine but/because(😳) you didn't make any comments about it at the end of your demo.
I do like the dual gas setup, going to have to make a few setups for my 210EXT and 253DPI! 😎👍
I would love to see you guys test the esab rogue es 180
I love my ESAB. I do all my structural stuff with it.
@@darkforcex7362 I have the 161 and the only thing I dont like is the dial is way off and have been thinking about upgrading to the 180. I use the 161 for all of my in field stick welding.
Hopefully getting one soon
Is the performance on 208v make the machine work harder? I noticed the you plugged in to 1 phase 208v, and on the machine spect say 1 phase 120/240v. So will that affect the performance?
More power means more amp to weld with , then you can use bigger wire and weld thicker steel ?
@@timothyrouse2853 and less stress on the unit, from what I read.
question:
I noticed you plugged into "208 1 phase" the machine says 240 volt.. also, what amp breaker is it running off of?
Just read the owners manual for this unit.
Input: 120V - 42.8 Amps Max - 1eff 34 Amps
240V- 44.9 Amps Max - 1eff 35 Amps
So if the branch circuit is only going to be used for this welder you can use a 40 amp breaker 8 gauge wire but I would go with 50 Amp and 6 gauge .
@@TheNYgolfer I have read a lot of recent commentary on YT videos asserting that machine life on these now really common multi-voltage units (including plasma cutters) is shorter and even much more inclined toward catastrophic failure, etc, when using 120. It seems they feel folks are trying to do too much at with 120 that should only be done with 208 or 240. I'm an observer and listener not an expert.
The best channel for welding ... up to 1milion subscribe...thank you for information 🖒☺+like
One of the best channels agreed!
@@PacificArcTigWelding Yes, that's right, one of my favorites
We’re you using c25 for spray arc? If so I’m surprised since usually you still get some short circuits with that gas and I didn’t hear any. Impressive!
nope, he was using 95/5
So if you wanted to buy an Everlast multifunction welder mig and tig that does thin (auto) aluminum which would you recommend?
I have the 221 STI and love it. It does almost everything this one does but the interface is not a touch screen. But it is real easy to set up and use. I paid $2200 a little over 1 1 /2 years ago and because this machine is coming out its down to $1800, Bob did a review a while back on it go check it out. Its a great little welder can not say anything bad. I am 44 and been welding since age 12. professionally about 20yrs and this is the smoothest machine I have ever used in all modes.
Jeremy Miller. Man I’d say if your recommending it’s a great one. I’m not to worried about cost within reason of course. The machines they wanna sell to body shops are extremely over priced. I mean $8-$13000! I believe a whole lot of that is outright rape. I’d like to have a decent one that’ll do auto body work on aluminum under $3k would be awesome. (One that I can set up for aluminum mig and leave it.)
This one is a good option. We're just starting to play around with it, but so far so good.
Great job! I do miss Bob’
Us too! But he'll be back!!
How do you like this vs the miller 220 acdc? Or the ebas 205?
With all due respect there are a lot of questions in the comments, but the answers seem sparse and random.
I noticed that you really clean the aluminum plates to get it really clean - but I didn't see you clean the rod with abrasives then degreaser. Isn't that also important?
Went and purchased it right after watching this vid, not gonna miss the chance while its on sale!
I did the same
Where? Its is not even for sale on Everlast sight yet. They get them early to review
@@jvmiller1995 its definitely for sale on their website lol. Listed for $2,000 original price was $2,689. Just look under products- and then multiprocess welders
@@fosterbrown2610 I see it now I looked it up a hour or so before I made my comment and it wasn't on there or I over looked it. either way I man enough to admit when I am wrong.
Shame we can't get this in the UK!
What is the price of this machine please tell me i want to buy one thank you.
For someone starting on welding to make a side income, should buy the Forney or go straight and invest on this?
Have you ever tried anything from Harbor Freight (Chicago Electric, Vulcan, etc)? I stay close and want to buy my own starter machine to get more practice since summer school is cancelled. I want to try to get a MIG since flux takes 120v. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! *Great review, by the way!*
Yes She: warranty is only 90 days on HF machines, 20% restocking if you return, expensive add on warranty cost (a guide to what they think of reliability, maybe?). Northern Tool has some good deals, their brands and others. Looking hard at Everlast, for sure. But there are many many cheap welders on Amazon, some might say a jungle. Mind your bucks and study hard.
Also, do your comparison shopping. Some things at HF are deals--for example I just bought 2 ground clamps at HF (to use on my battery charger--much better than the typical sissy OEM clamps) for HALF the cost of the same ones at NTool. Shop, learn and save.
Great Video
what to do to test it in Poland?
Great review 😁! I've been eyeballing them Everlast machines, they're not so over priced like their blue compatriots 😊. Thanks for the share👍🙂👍.
They are made in China, no? Blue is a USA machine.
Choose your battles wisely - China will OWN every market if your only concern is price.
@@Factory400 I think they originated in San Francisco.
Blue is not a USA machine! Do some research!
@@Factory400 Even when assembled in USA, many parts and boards come from good ole Cathay. I am new to welding (searching for the right machine for my restaurant, farm and other low grade repair, etc, needs) but I have observed things in this profession on line and in conversation with experienced welders, for a long time, and it seems to me that tech upgrades are often more frequent and cutting edge in the direct from China machines. Reliability does seem to be a big concern. I am looking hard at how companies handle customer service when things DO (and they will) go wrong. What are their return policies, cost of consumables, etc, etc? Learning all the time, and I appreciate forums like this one, a lot!
@@replyhere590 My point is made. The consumers demanding "cheaper!" for decades..... now even USA manufactures are no longer USA manufactures. They can't even if they wanted to because most of their vendors have moved to China
Why does Everlast have "Not E6010 Rated" even though you were able to find it in the stick menu?
For stock mode can you when jumping from 6010 to 7018 can you just crank amps up and down instead of navigation menus and rod time selection. Basically in the field for pipe welding you want a simple adjustment. For example telling an apprentice to turn up the welder is fairly simple but having them navigate menus well they could asily mess it up or "need help" which would be annoying. Thanks
How about a review of the Lightning MTS 275. One doest not seem to exist, a few channels posted videos that they recieved it but no operating videos
We posted one a couple months back
How is this welder holding up?
can you weld fluxcore with this machine
So you have to switch the cables to go from DC to AC tig?
You don't have to, but if you don't the balance % will be reversed.
@@Welddotcom Yes you do on this machine. You need to move the work clamp from DC+ to the AC port, or you will only get half wave form.
What amp breaker does it require? Thanks.
50A and 6 gauge wire but you could probably get away with 40A and 8 gauge on low settings, wouldn't recommend it though.
@@mr.3phase228 80% rule, definitely 50 A. Maxing out is rarely good. Love your handle. We got 3 ph at our restaurant in 1996 (I helped pull the big wire, ugh!!), really does better with motors and other things, though they are harder to resell if you upgrade since fewer buyers have access to 3 ph.
Good video!
I dunno, I’ll have to test it and see. Send it over.
Maybe once all the social distancing is over well host a little weld party
Im impressed with how its a complete package multiprocess welder for the price. The only thing i dont like is the presets. Miller has these I hate them. I turn em off. But it looks like with this you have no choice. The last time i ever dabbled with hot start and arc force was testing in school. After that never used em again.
I think is a good one
