      Hello. My name is Silas Morand and I'm wanting to purchase my first MTS welder. Is the Everlast lightning mts 275 just like this machine, but stronger? Ive been looking at the Everlast lightning mts 275 for quite some time now and I'm highly considering it. Does it have the same consumables as this machine like the nova foot pedal?
      Thanks..

    bought their 520 three in one... wanted the plasma mostly and the stick... The tig was a bonus and I had never tried it before . Thought I had died and gone to heaven... a non violent process was just another world after decades of mig and stick… just a hobby welder now. The stick was what sold me... nice welds. The plasma is impressive and cuts thick 1/2" no problem and will hack it's way through 3/4". I'm still learning the tig process.

    It even comes with the pedal, and the touch switch that I haven't seen on others I looked at.

    I bought an Everlast 251si about 2 years ago and absolutely love it. It's a little over 100 lbs with a 33lb spool and will run some thick material on 110v even thicker on 220v. Remember, if it sounds like your "cooking bacon" your doing good.
    My first welder, bought back in 1974 when I was 18 for $49.99 and was a Lincoln 220 "buzz box."
    Later on I picked up a used Miller 250 AC/DC-HF Tig metallic syncrowave that came with the four roller industrial mig unit and stick leads....it welds great, but is heavy to move around and it's hard to find parts for as it was made around 1966...plus the cable to amp indicator is broken and I just "crank by feel," then look at the weld & adjust.
    My next welder is a Hobart 160 AC/DC stick which I recently hooked up my Tig to....works ok, but not like the Miller.
    Since Harbor Freight came in five years ago I've been looking at other options than the high dollar machines.
    This machine looks awesome.

    question:
    I noticed you plugged into "208 1 phase" the machine says 240 volt.. also, what amp breaker is it running off of?

    • @TheNYgolfer
      @TheNYgolfer 4 года назад +1

      Just read the owners manual for this unit.
      Input: 120V - 42.8 Amps Max - 1eff 34 Amps
      240V- 44.9 Amps Max - 1eff 35 Amps
      So if the branch circuit is only going to be used for this welder you can use a 40 amp breaker 8 gauge wire but I would go with 50 Amp and 6 gauge .

      @@TheNYgolfer I have read a lot of recent commentary on YT videos asserting that machine life on these now really common multi-voltage units (including plasma cutters) is shorter and even much more inclined toward catastrophic failure, etc, when using 120. It seems they feel folks are trying to do too much at with 120 that should only be done with 208 or 240. I'm an observer and listener not an expert.

      I have the 221 STI and love it. It does almost everything this one does but the interface is not a touch screen. But it is real easy to set up and use. I paid $2200 a little over 1 1 /2 years ago and because this machine is coming out its down to $1800, Bob did a review a while back on it go check it out. Its a great little welder can not say anything bad. I am 44 and been welding since age 12. professionally about 20yrs and this is the smoothest machine I have ever used in all modes.

      Jeremy Miller. Man I’d say if your recommending it’s a great one. I’m not to worried about cost within reason of course. The machines they wanna sell to body shops are extremely over priced. I mean $8-$13000! I believe a whole lot of that is outright rape. I’d like to have a decent one that’ll do auto body work on aluminum under $3k would be awesome. (One that I can set up for aluminum mig and leave it.)

      Yes She: warranty is only 90 days on HF machines, 20% restocking if you return, expensive add on warranty cost (a guide to what they think of reliability, maybe?). Northern Tool has some good deals, their brands and others. Looking hard at Everlast, for sure. But there are many many cheap welders on Amazon, some might say a jungle. Mind your bucks and study hard.

    • @replyhere590

      Also, do your comparison shopping. Some things at HF are deals--for example I just bought 2 ground clamps at HF (to use on my battery charger--much better than the typical sissy OEM clamps) for HALF the cost of the same ones at NTool. Shop, learn and save.

Reliability does seem to be a big concern. I am looking hard at how companies handle customer service when things DO (and they will) go wrong. • @joenesiadicola3006
    @joenesiadicola3006 Год назад

    For stock mode can you when jumping from 6010 to 7018 can you just crank amps up and down instead of navigation menus and rod time selection. Basically in the field for pipe welding you want a simple adjustment. For example telling an apprentice to turn up the welder is fairly simple but having them navigate menus well they could asily mess it up or "need help" which would be annoying. Thanks
