I really appreciate how humble Jordan is. He has a black belt in conversation. He is just taking the information in. Thank you for posting. I really enjoyed this. At 22:25 Pritt is talking about Gary and Kron and about levels of defence and Jordan responds “Exactly!”. It was great!

I am 44 years old and just started the Journey ….
Thanks to this system I won competition 2 in white belt
As per my pears my jujitsu got exponentially better
And recommend to test for my blue belt after 100 days
Is also interesting how many times I still need to watch the camps and videos like this and how many more things I get of of them ,,
Thank you so much to both and your team

I'm fairly new to BJJ and I genuinely feel like my mindset catered to this kind of style, but it's not the most readily available (or popular) form of BJJ. Super glad you bought him on your channel, this dude has opened my eyes and solidified my mindset as far as something I could further explore, something that's WORTH exploring deeper (despite being advised against directly, from higher belts.)

That discussion starting at around 10:40 to 13:38 about ending up in open guard top, realistic endings, optimal positions, long combinations and "starting with jiu-jitsu, end with wrestling" is really helpful.
I think less white and blue belt would quit if they could really internalize and integrate this.
It's why it's difficult to pull off the technique of the day when we go from learning and drilling it to live rolls with resistance at the end of class.

I watched his “Want to get better at jiu jitsu” video two years ago and it really blew me away. He’s definitely one of the most creative minds in the sport and he’s put hundreds of hours of drilling and research into each of these positions. It’s difficult to learn because it goes against everything you have been taught but the time investment is worth it. I have gotten so much harder to tap since employing his principles and I am still a novice at them.

But how can you go for an attack if you're worried about ending up in bottom side control if you fail? Defensive is the foundation and gives you the confidence to go for the finish!
You need to go from a defensive cycle directly into an offensive one. Rather than just staving off attack after attack

People have to know its a system you got to keep moving not just stay in one position. You gotta keep moving and look for the opening. I have had people say they are tired on being on top trying to keep me pin and in one place. They will eventually mess up in the moving trenches and you can capitalize

IMO, Priit's ideas are underappreciated by a lot of elites, but his philosophy is ideal for what jiu jitsu is often said to be -- good, even annoying, defense is perfect for the smaller and weaker to confound the bigger and stronger. Done well, it leads to turnabout, and victory for the little guy (or older, handicapped, etc).

I have been working at applying Priit’s running man, turtle, panda defense for a month or so. I am still not that good at it. But his comments around the 20th minute ring true for me. Using this against guys that are better or stronger than me. It definitely makes them feel more in control so they slow down. Aren’t as intent on trying to crush me. Which gives me more time to think & feel any openings in their pressure.

I think Chris Paines does a good job of explaining the benefit of what he and Priit are doing. Shouldn't we always be challenging grips and inside position? Priit has taken this so far. And what does that expose in the end? Most peoples offense actually sucks. Thats the problem. They think they have good offense because theyve been getting underhooks the size of canyons their whole career.
Another thing is, you should be fighting all of these same battles on offense as well. not allowing underhooks. not allowing head control. Fighting the wrists.

    Don’t stop innovating …
Innovation isn’t a matter of ignoring the status quo, or ignoring a standardised set of rules; it is about breaking new ground in a way that offers better solutions and novel ideas that add value.
Usually, rules are in place for a reason. It might seem like they hold us back - and perhaps over the long term, they do have the potential to do just that; the reality is the they often are bound in context and can also come with a ‘use by’ date.
Holding your mums hadn’t whilst crossing the road, just makes good sense when your’e a child, incapable of fully understand consequence. Still holding you mums hand whilst crossing the road when you’re an adult, can hold you back. Shallow end of the pool; deep end of the pool; ocean … you get the idea.
I recall a time in Brazil, back in the late 80’s, I was at a competition in Teresopolis, with my fellow team-mates; I was a white belt at the time. I saw a match between two brown belts (I think they were Soca and Royler) and every time one found their guard being passed, they turned away and exposed their back (they transitioned to turtle) - and then seamlessly attacked or reversed the fight from that position. I remembered being very confused - yet impressed by how well it worked. I pointed this out to Renzo, who was sitting with me, and he suggested that it was not something I was ready to do. I needed to wait until purple belt before learning such strategies. I clearly recall being both frustrated and skeptical at hearing that. Still … he was of course, perfectly correct. I still needed to take a firm grasp on my mothers hand - before strolling across that particular road.
We learn the ‘rules’ (doctrine) throughly - build understanding and technical proficiency - and then, we can begin bending (if not breaking) the rules.
I look at what Priit is doing - and I am reminded of those early days. I admire innovation - but I also appreciate the guard-rails provided by fundamental strategies.
