- Why do we offer different EV motors in the Atom Drive EV Conversion System? Proprietary architecture and software development allows us to validate different motors, which means you have options for different driveline configurations, performance, and price. Follow along as we explain how the ability to choose the right motor for your conversion ensures that there are no compromises when converting your vehicle.
Ampere EV’s Atom Drive System features architecture and parts that are engineered, built and tested in house using all new components, allowing us to deliver an EV Conversion System that is more feature packed than the competition for its price. The Atom Drive System was developed by world-class engineers and includes modular battery packs, Level 3 fast charging, a vehicle control unit, and a customizable user interface-all built in-house, pre-configured, and ready to install. The system also includes a high-quality touchscreen user interface with options for controlling functions using tactile switches and legacy display gauges.

Ampere EV’s modular approach to the conversion process allows them to design and produce components for series production, rather than being built-to-order. The company’s Atom Drive System offers unparalleled value, integration ease, and engineering features.
I wish they would’ve specified in the title that they’re only explaining every motor they offer. I thought this was going to be a breakdown of the different types of motors that exist.
Thanks for your feedback, that would be a great video! We will add it to our knowledgebase list.
If you were to put say the im 225 in a truck to use it for a selectable transfer case, what would that look like? Would you need a differential in the front to make that work?
Got anything For an EV conversion on a Japanese 4x4 kei truck?
That’s really cool am glad to see your video, I do have a lot project so am ordering soon thanks
What is the lightest motor
Which one is best for classic vw beetle? Plug to old beetle gearbox
If you want to keep the manual transmission, you would need to use a Cascadia style motor.
There are plenty of wrecked Tesla motors out there now for a reasonable price though. I think you guys should develop an adjustable universal type of shortend IRS subframe to drop a used Tesla motor into and bolt up to classics along with stand alone controllers for batteries and motors. Thats where I think the market will go the next few years. We all want those carbon sleeved PLAID motors but those Model 3/Y are getting to be as cheap as used Gen III/IV SBC's!
Great job
Nice....
I can only imagine how that big one feels in an old muscle car. bet it eats tyres.
$10k US for just the Cascadia motor? Wow, I wasn't expecting that high of a starting price.
Sure wish it was a bit more cost effective. I guess budget builds will still be based on wrecks for some time yet.
Thanks for your comments! The power is incredible, but torque management strategies using our proprietary VCU software keeps the power from devouring the tires. The Cascadia motor is more expensive, but we have other offerings that cost less, and keep in mind that once installed, maintenance costs are practically negligible.
Can't wait to retrofit my '56 Chevy to this type of advanced propulsion system.👍
Right on!
The Tesla Model S / X drive units should be described properly, because they're not the only Tesla drive units.
Can this be configured for a tesla large drive unit?
Please contact us through our website, thank you!
These seem to be AC motors. An 8 or 9-inch DC motor has worked well for EV conversions for decades.
The only advantage DC motors have for automotive use are higher torque at low voltages. That’s the reason you don’t see them in any highway EV from any manufacturer.
I thought electric motor had alot more torque?
Huge torque, from zero rpm. Much superior to gas or diesel.
Depends on the motor and application.
Oo šitla fan... btw.. s models are bad option
Didn't explain much 😔
