YYYYOOOOOOOOOOOO I'VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS EXACT THING FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS 😭😭😭!!!!!
I used to want to be rich/famous/known because I was afraid of dying and not being remembered! I was chasing fame and fortune 'cause I wanted to leave something behind like music, movies, or art!
This endeavour was driving me crazy 'cause even though I was making progress, it wasn't enough to get me to taylor swift heights. I was so depressed and defeated 😭!!!!!
Until I had the thought: ok even if I *did* reach Beyoncé heights in my career.... Would I still be remembered 1000 years from now ?
I knew the answer was no 'cause I don't even know any superstars from 100 years ago. Even the huge icons of last century: Elvis, Michael Jackson, the Beatles, Marilyn Monroe... No one really thinks about them anymore. And when they are relevant again, it's because of a scandal. Yeah, they have their die hard fans who still exist but they will perish too.
I suddenly realised that it's not important at all if the World knows my name. All that matters is that Jesus knows my name. That I will be with Him forever in Heaven!
This world will fade away, but with Jesus, I will remain forever too! It doesn't matter to leave something for this world. I give all to Jesus!
Reading through this chapter today had me absolutely FLOORED!!!! THERE TRULY IS NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY ME THAT THOUGHT THIS 😂😂😂

That is the best study i saw from a Christian pastor regarding Ecclesiastes. And I'm saying this a native Hebrew speaker who read it many times in the original tongue. it was just a good a philosophical study just as a theological/literary one. good job pastor. greetings from the holy land

I happened to open up Ecclesiastes 1-2 today. Thank God for Jesus for giving me new life. And thank God for Solomon for explaining that the worldly view is all vanity. I can attest to that. Before I found Christ, I was a hedonist. Pleasure was the goal. But it always left me feeling empty. With new life in Christ, I've got a reason to dance, to lift my hands, and sing praises.

About 3 weeks ago, I asked God and my husband to please find me a good Teacher of The Word, and the next day we came across Pastor Paul on RUclips.
We have visited so many Churches and Denominations; and in our own personal search for Spiritual Wisdom - The Spirit has revealed to us that Christ's "Church" lives inside of us, in our hearts, and in our own home.
Thank you for your tender prayer.

What a great lesson from this study. Simply put we can live for the pleasures of this earth which are short and fleeting or we can live to serve God who offers us a secure and glorious future beyond this earth.

Became a Christian 2 years ago and have read the Bible a few times now. Now my goal is to gain other perspectives and depends my understanding of the books.
Ecclesiastes spoke to me, to my soul.
Now listening to this I have realized I have lived these experiments before finding the Lord.
He's funny in how he works.

After reading through it man I was cringing and guessing so much of it. Because it’s like sure go sin, go do this and that, who cares? It’s all for nothing. It to me felt and feels like it’s a book of Sheol.

    Pastor Paul,
Thank you Pastor for teaching me that orginized religion, that is filled with rules and regulations [living under the Law], is also vanity.
I now have a strong Testimony that only having faith, trusting in, and seeking Christ Jesus on a personal level is what brings true joy!
Moving forward, in my daily life, I am going to carry with me, only an eternal desire to be in step with The Spirit of God, to embrace my freedom in Christ Jesus, and to feed off of His tender mercies and mighty grace.
I love Jesus so very much. He truly is my Savior!

I understand that Solomon was the wisest man and yes he probably he searched and deeply understood many things. But I have to disagree with saying he slept with 1000 women as an experiment, the truth is he sinned . He committed great sin. Yes he probably thought that because of his wisdom he could easily be freed from consequence. But to say it was an experiment is not completely true . I’d say he was wise and sinned and learned even more after he sinned.

That was also how i understand ecclesiastics.
He himself feel how to be empty, lonely, because he is away from God because of all the sin he committed.
He himself realised how much life is in vain without God. How life is empty and useless when God is not with you. Despite of being wise he can not resist his weakness.

I think the beginning assessment of the book, or at least the sentiment, is off. It sounds as if you're speaking in a present tense, when the author is speaking of what he has learned throughout his pursuit of meaning outside of God. It's truly groundbreaking stuff.

  • @JohnAdams-zh4tz
    @JohnAdams-zh4tz 9 дней назад

IMO you noted writing was depressing
My view: Solomon was old and very depressed. Writing this book was a kind of therapy explaining his rationale for his many sins. In the end his admonition for the purpose of life was not accumulating or doing “stuff” but of revering the Lord and submission (obeying) to God.
Having wisdom yet still choosing to sin - upon looking back led to Solomon’s depression.
From God’s viewpoint: He used for good in that the book tells a believer that even the wisest people sin - and earthly gains aren’t enough reward to make sinning worthwhile - it all becomes meaningless as death approaches. So the purpose of life is to be in relationship with God and submit to Him,

I disagree I see it as a perfect representation, description, definition of salvation, grace, and the purpose of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. We can never do anything that can get us into or out of heaven. All we can do is believe and trust that the debt has been paid. I was taught that the whole Bible pointed to Jesus, and I see this book as the philosophical realization of the resurrection. Just my thoughts.
