It also has 285/70R17 BFGOODRICH KO3 tires wrapped around the 4Runner TRD Pro wheels that are 17x7 inches with a positive 4 offset. No rubbing whatsoever.
Dang, I was worried about running 265/65R17 duratrac tires on a 17x7 on my 2016 with stock suspension and +4 offset. But if you're rocking this setup on a 17x7 I don't think I have anything to worry about
I have a 2019 Tacoma Sport, and when I needed to replace the stock tires with all weather tires (mountain + snowflake) the ones they had in stock (and cheaper!) were 265/70R17 for my 17in wheels, no lift. They are awesome (Nokian Outpost AT 115T) with a nice aggressive tread and plenty of sidewall. One thing though - although this size tire is indeed 1" more in diameter, the actual 'lift' of the tire on the truck is only 1/2in. Not enough to throw out the speedometer by enough to really matter.
Tinkerers adventure has really good videos where he takes apart Toyots IFS, shows, and measures everything. Wheel offset is a huge factor for fitting tires. High lifts will impact your articulation negativity as well. You can do 285/70/17s with a two inch lift. Just get 0mm offset wheels. If you go negative offset, you're creating a wider arc and will have more rubbing issues.

I'm confused, I bought Wrangler Duratrac 265/70/R17 online for my 2013 Tacoma because I wanted to go from the stock size (16) to a larger one (17) and when I took the truck to get the new tires installed they told me it wasn't possible because it sits too close to the fender, what is the correct size to be able to put 17" rims on then?
@@RobMotive Oh believe me I watched the whole video, I just want to make sure. You have one of the best comprehensive videos on tire size. I just want to make sure there wouldnt be any rubbing, or would it depend on the offset of the wheel? TRD sport tires have like +30 and I dont know if it will fit those 285 without rubbing on the upper control arm. Any help would be much appreciated!
So my manual for my 2014 base 4cyl. taco says max size for 16" tire is 265/70. I just bought it and it came with 265/75's. I don't think there is a lift on it. Should I be worried?

I’m confused by the chart a little bit….isn’t a 265/75 taller than a 265/70? It seems that according to the chart that the rim size is effecting the tire height. For example….how can a 265/75/16 be one inch taller than a 265/75/15 and also a 265/70/17 be taller than a 265/75/16? Or am I just wrong in what I think the tire sizes are?
@ken do you have factory suspension or are you using a lift? If a lift, what is your setup? I am looking at lt285/75r16 and wondering what/how I may need to prep the truck
I have a 2020 Tacoma utility model with the stock 16" steel wheels. Charts tell me 265/75R 16 tires will NOT fit. It looks like they will rub on the upper frame section. Any idea if this is truly the case. I want to go to the 265/75 size when I get new tires but not if they won't fit.
@@RobMotive is the video out on this yet? I’m looking to go 265/75/16 on a stock truck/wheels. On 2019 Tacoma SR. Wondering if that will do any rubbing. It should be fine right?
I recently bought a 2018 Tacoma from a dealership and it already had a lift and wheel spacers on it, but it came with the stock wheels. The dealership didn't know any details about the lift height or any of that, so I'm not sure what I even have on my truck. So I guess I need to determine what lift and spacers I have before I go to get wheels and tires for it. Still a good reference video for when I do figure it out though.
Good Afternoon Rob, How are you doing? Well, I finally bit the bullet and had my tires changed from Cooper to Falken wildpeaks. Overall I like the look. I didn't go for the 275 70 17, only because I wanted to keep the gas aspects within the range. My question is that I went to Discount tires and after they mounted the tires, I noticed that on the dash board the tires gauge did not tell me the amount of air on each tires. How do I get it to show it? Take it in for a front end alignment? It rides well overall.
It takes a few minutes of driving for the truck to pick up the sensors. If you’ve driven for a while with no reading, take it back…something is wrong 🤔
@@RobMotive I went ahead and set up an appointment for Saturday afternoon close to home. The discount tire is 40 minutes away. Appreciate the response 👍

Aloha and good evening Rob 🙏 ✨. Mahalo for providing this educational and very informative 👍 video. This is truly smart to making potential customers and modders aware on the maximum tires to use for no lifts and with lifts. You mentioned Titanic rims with very little tire tread wall. I've seen those on SUV'S and 4-door cars too in Oahu. Yet, a major pothole would give you a wonderful whiplash and a major busted suspension too. Yeah, I've seen those nutty mods as well. 265/75/16 with only a -6 offset and I get minor rubbing when turning on uneven pavement or when I have multiple people in the truck that weighs it down. I’ve been told to get a leveling kit to elevate this problem. It rubs on the front fender well when it does rub.

Now I want to go up 2 inches in the front and 1 inch on the rear. Do you recommend spacers, or Bilstein B8 5100 set up. The most off road it will see is visiting family in Vermont and Upstate NY in winter months where the snow will be deep , I live in hot ass FL so now off road here. I want to do the job right I want to know if the original shocks can handle the extra weight of the tires ride quality and dependability. If I can get away with the Rough Country front and rear spacers that’s fine if not so be it.
I’m on a 3/2 lift with 20” rims. Currently have 265/60R20. After a ton of research I’ve heard that going to a 265/55R20 would fix the rub issue. What was your experience on the 20” wheels? Would this combo fix my issue? Thanks.
Can you give me some insight as to which wheel would have the least amount of issues with a 2" lift? 18x8.5 - 0 offset (4.75 backspace) or 18 x 9.5: -18 offset (5.4 backspace). Aiming to go with 275s or 265 tires, no way am I going with 285s. Greatly appreciated as I'm torn and can't find decent pics online of the fitments.

I can’t speak to a 2013. I’m sure the space is different.
I have 2013 prerunner v6 2WD can I fit 265/70/17 on my 17” rims, anyone know?
Yup that’s fine, unless it’s something like a mud tire, which typically comes with a much more aggressive tread that can possibly cause rubbing.
Would your tire size guide pertain to a 2014 Taco?
I believe the dates covered are on the chart.
With a 3 inch lift Rim 17, the 285/70/17 will fit with no rubbing ?
Have a look: ruclips.net/video/pbZnuhRPkEY/видео.html
@@RobMotive Oh believe me I watched the whole video, I just want to make sure. You have one of the best comprehensive videos on tire size. I just want to make sure there wouldnt be any rubbing, or would it depend on the offset of the wheel? TRD sport tires have like +30 and I dont know if it will fit those 285 without rubbing on the upper control arm. Any help would be much appreciated!
The wheel offset can certainly make a difference. I can only speak first hand for my setup 👍
So my manual for my 2014 base 4cyl. taco says max size for 16" tire is 265/70. I just bought it and it came with 265/75's. I don't think there is a lift on it. Should I be worried?
Only if it hits or rubs.
Can I put 17's on my stock TRD off road 2015? because I just bought the trd rims for it.
Have a look: ruclips.net/video/pbZnuhRPkEY/видео.html
Hey Rob, I put 17 trd rims and 265/65 17 falken wildpeaks on my 2015 trd offroad tacoma and it looks and rides fantastic!!, no rub at all. Thanks for the video!!
Great to hear👍👍
Hello. Have you check the 275-65-17 in Tacoma 2019 TRD sport? Thank you
Would 265/70/17 size ko2's on a no lift '21 tacoma cause any rubbing?
Have a look at the chart in the video👍
And what offset do you run or suggest negative 8,10,12 or positive ???
I’m running -10
I’m confused by the chart a little bit….isn’t a 265/75 taller than a 265/70? It seems that according to the chart that the rim size is effecting the tire height. For example….how can a 265/75/16 be one inch taller than a 265/75/15 and also a 265/70/17 be taller than a 265/75/16?
Or am I just wrong in what I think the tire sizes are?
Will 275/65r/18 fit with no rub?
I don't have any issues with
285/70/17s zero offset on my SR
@ken do you have factory suspension or are you using a lift? If a lift, what is your setup? I am looking at lt285/75r16 and wondering what/how I may need to prep the truck
@@JediGokuLee no lift
All stock. Very little rub at full turn in left reverse
Stay tuned. I have a video coming on that👍
@@RobMotive is the video out on this yet?
@@RobMotive
I went ahead and set up an appointment for Saturday afternoon close to home. The discount tire is 40 minutes away. Appreciate the response 👍
They either didn’t initiate the sensors, didn’t put them back in or used a version that is not compatible with Toyota🤔
I went wild with my 2013 Tacoma . I put 285/45r22 . I don't feel it bumpy while riding . It does not rub after i removed the plastic factory mudguards..
How many inches did you get the lift kit?
@@angeltiz80 i dint get a lift kit. I only put a leveling kit in the front. I think it's only lifts about 2 or 3 inches....
Which one of these tires will have a smaller profile the 275/70/R17 or the 265/70/R17?
Plug in the sizes at tiresize.com and you can see them side by side 👍
@@RobMotivethanks for the website. I'm leaning towards put a 245/60/r20 on my Tacoma. I like the low profile look. How would I go by figuring the rim that can fit that tire size and Tacoma lugs?
R20 requires a 20” rim. R18 requires an 18” rim and so forth.
Will a -12mm offset cause problems for a Tacoma 265/65/R17?
Aloha and good evening Rob 🙏 ✨. Mahalo for providing this educational and very informative 👍 video. This is truly smart to making potential customers and modders aware on the maximum tires to use for no lifts and with lifts. You mentioned Titanic rims with very little tire tread wall. I've seen those on SUV'S and 4-door cars too in Oahu. Yet, a major pothole would give you a wonderful whiplash and a major busted suspension too. Yeah, I've seen those nutty mods as well. This is a terrific video Rob. 📹 Keep up the great work 👏 👍 💪 👌 🙌 😀. Miele Kalikimaka e' Hauoli' Maka'hiki Hou! (Hawaiian translation for saying "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!"

I am planning to add 3/2 spacers and put 285/70/R17 on my TRD Sport Stock Rims.
Does anyone have experience on whether they will rub?
I mainly drive onroad but in the near future (Spring/Summer) will be going on trails and gravel roads.....not any major offroading.
In case anyone is wondering why that tire size, I was able to get 5 tires from someone with 3k mules on them for $100 each, couldn't pass it up.
Hi Rob enjoyed the video’ want to ask I have 16in stock wheels on my 2015 Toyota Tacoma can I go with a 17 in stock wheels and will I get the same smooth ride?want to go with 265/70R-17 tires,
The more you reduce the treadwall, the rougher the ride will be.
If I do 265/75/16 with -10 or -12 offset and not have any issues?
Have a look at the chart in the video👍
Rob
I have a 2022 SR 4cyl engine.
How having 4 cyl will affect the performance with 265/75-16 tires?

Hey man I got a 1998 toyota tacoma Ingle cab low I want to put a 2 or 2 1/2 inch I wouldn't like to look to high but like if it was factory lift what size tires and wheels should I buy that it wouldn't rub. Thanks good info by the way.

What changes when you adjust the offset? I have a 2”/1” level on mine and want to put on some 17” wheels that stick out just a bit further…. Can’t find the right tire size or offset yet.
The wheel/tire moves in or out.
How about a 4 inch lift gen 3 ?
Going to need to address several other components for that.
@@RobMotive im on 285 75 16, 16x8 and 1.25 wheel spacers. Ive done CMC, pinch weld hammering, and viper cut. Being 2.7 5speed is my limiting factor. But i do have the itch to go bigger already. I really like the cbi offroad oversized fender kit with cab mount relocate.
Probably going to start cutting into performance with the 2.7 as well.
@@RobMotive already well into that. I have bumpers, sliders, winch .. etc. im pushing it lol.

Just curious Rob. I have a 2019 limited with 18”. Is that chart for a 2019 model too? Or just newer? I’m looking to buy tires same stock wheel. So if I got the 265 70 18 I shouldn’t have to worry about rubbing correct?
The chart is for 3rd Gen Tacomas👍
I fit a 265/60r20 on mine stock
I have a 2009 Tacoma TRD 4door 4x4 and need a pr of tires for the rear? I do need something for snow and winters here in New England but they will be used for highway driving as well.
Simply... Could someone make recommendations for my truck that will not break the bank. Something mid range in price that will handle snowy roads and highways.
Yeh I know. I should be figuring this out myself but a big tire chainbput me into tires with zero tread and they s$@k.
what would look good without rubbing or anything with a 2 inch level kit just in the front

285/75/r16 can fit on factory just have to do some minor trimming. Thats what im going to do to save my warranty lmao
Is there a way to recalibrate speedo, etc when up sizing tires? Thanks Rob
I’ve heard there are some dealerships that will do it. Also heard there are some aftermarket plug in solutions, but I’ve never done either.
265/75/16 with only a -6 offset and I get minor rubbing when turning on uneven pavement or when I have multiple people in the truck that weighs it down. I’ve been told to get a leveling kit to elevate this problem. It rubs on the front fender well when it does rub.
Bummer! Can’t stand any rubbing 😡
I want to go at least 17" but I want to stay stock/Toyota. Anyone know what other Toyota's/year fit with the same offset?
with stock 2022 trd sport wheels, 17inch am i good to run 275/70r17?

Will the 265 75 16 rub in the mud flap ?
Could. Depends on your offset, tire type, etc.

Ur the man
Love your channel straight to the point no BS. I have a few questions I just purchased a 2023 Tacoma SR5 tire size 245/75R/16
I want to go up to 265/75R/16. i’m aware that I don’t have to use a lift for this set up.
Here’s what I’d recommend : ruclips.net/video/rMU9fKxBGA0/видео.html

I would say not.
I’m on a 3/2 lift with 20” rims. Currently have 265/60R20. After a ton of research I’ve heard that going to a 265/55R20 would fix the rub issue. What was your experience on the 20” wheels? Would this combo fix my issue? Thanks.

Can you do this for last gen tundras. 2021go through max tire sizes on tundras
Huh?
Can you give me some insight as to which wheel would have the least amount of issues with a 2" lift? 18x8.5 - 0 offset (4.75 backspace) or 18 x 9.5: -18 offset (5.4 backspace). Yes but dont say anything about the off set in the char.
