Knowing a Chrysler, the sound effect module will not last and nobody will be able to afford to fix it. I can live with peace and quiet.
Dodge missed a styling opportunity by not putting the charging port on the driver's side quarter panel under a large filler cap like the '68/'69 Charger.
A lot of the home charging stations will be in front of the hood….
Τhe Dodge Charger used to weigh about 2 tons.... The EV version is just too heavy at 2.7 tons.

Personally the gimmicks turn me off, but Dodge probably know better than I, and they might just capture the market for the superficial rather than the practical. In a way, not a bad thing if it improves EV sales.

Why didn't they call it the Dodge Recharger?
There is no firm confirmation that the Banshe will have 1000 HP.
Even if it does: it weighs 6000 pounds.
Tesla Plaid weighs less.
Teslas are much lighter, 4700lbs for the Plaid and 4000lbs for the Model 3 Ludicrous.

I love my Polestar 2 it's like an electric muscle car but the dodge is awesome and may just be my next EV after the polestar once I pay it off. ASAP hopefully so I can trade it in for the dodge EV
It's nice to see normal styling -- no fussy crazy lines going everywhere.
I like the hidden wing in the hood. That is creative.
I'm not a fan of these retro-looking muscle cars, but if old muscle car fans like them, go for it! If I'm buying a large sedan, I'm getting a Tesla Model S or Lucid Air, but don't want a sedan.
Dodge definitely should sell them in AUS. They will be an essential component of the post Apocalyptic Road Warrior fleet.

Cars are getting way too heavy. A 6000 pound car and a 2000 pound car getting into an accident won’t look pretty. Mass + velocity not a good mix for safety.
Not to mention the damage to roads with that much weight.
The front end is too high in the air instead of being low making the side profile a rectangle box instead of a triangle side view like the 1971 -73 models with a thin low front end
Adding motors with a peak power rating is easy, but getting 800kw of power from a 100kwh battery pack requires a high 8C discharge rating. Those batteries tend to be heavy and expensive, so the 6000lbs weight is not surprising. Cost-wise, that is a $40k battery pack so don't expect these Chargers to be reasonably priced. When Dodge fails to sell many at $150k per vehicle they'll once again say "there is no demand" for EVs. I think a larger 150kwh pack with a lower 5C rating would be cheaper and lighter and give more range.

I’m fine with fake shifters and simulated engine rpms if it helps move gas engine buyers into EVs. It may seem silly, but then again the performance a lot of EVs provide from Tesla, Rivian and Lucid beating super cars from a few years ago is also kind of silly. It;s not needed or even used by normal drivers but it’s ok to have it when desired.
Good grief! 2700kg that's obscene for a private vehicle. How on earth are these behemoths sustainable? As for the fake tailpipe noise you're going to look like a complete tool with that soundtrack burbling away on a ELECTRIC CAR.

In a time where family suvs have over 500hp or sedans with stock 1000 the word musclecar was cancelled out of my vocabulary at least for today's cars.
They should be building them with NACS rather than CCS.

Stellantis did announce that they will be switching to NACS but unlike everyone else they made no mention of an agreement with Tesla to get Supercharger access. Maybe that was an oversight or it may be that they are so hostile to Tesla that they really aren't going to do an agreement. Stellantis did say last week that they aren't going to buy credits from Tesla anymore, they are just going to pay the fines. If they do put a NACS port on their cars but they can't charge at Superchargers it will be the worst of both worlds. They will still be stuck with the CCS networks but they will have to use an adapter.
I will be selling one of my Hellcats to buy a 2 door charger EV. But I will probably wait a year so that the bugs get sorted out

We get it you don’t get the attraction regular car guys get from great looking great sounding normal ICE V8s.The latter doesn’t mean loud either.You didn’t mention that this car will be available with an internal combustion engine that will appease some people but not all because it’s a lowly 6cylinder.Euro types will enjoy it but most North Americans will not be able to stand the unfamiliar from it’s tail pipes-even if they manage to attain similar or better horsepower figures as the present discontinued models.
No! It’s that exhaust smell of Un-burnt fuel from the tailpipes they’ll miss the most from the 1960s! Perhaps some perfume maker can make a really good duplicate of that too! Without of course increasing emissions. Lol

Why is it so heavy?
Ever seen a heavy weight power lifter? Dodge wants that in a car.
Most likely the model S Plaid Tesla will win at the track just because of the weight difference.
Critically can it keep delivering full power continuously like the Tesla can? You might remember the Ford Mach-E GT.... it can only do full power for 5 seconds before lowering it to keep from overheating.

The taycan interior and fit and finish is night and day better then a tesla interior. One is a premium luxury brand and the other isn't. Plus active ride and all the tech the new taycan has is game changing. The rimac nevera has 1850 hp and beat the taycan lap time by 2 sec. I guarantee the roadster won't even come close to that time unless it's pushing over 2000hp. Porsche always does more with less. In porsche first ever EV attempt they created a faster dual motor EV then anyone has till this day. Tesla had to add an entire extra motor just to beat porsche in a straight line.

Lets understand something. The difference between a Pony car and a Muscle car. A Pony car was not a Muscle car unless it had a Big Block engine. The term Muscle car is one of the most misused and abused terms used by the media and the gearhead ignorants.
Stellantis will have a big hit with these models as long as the price point doesn't exclude the typical buyer of the recent past Charger/Challenger.
I am definitely interested in seeing how well this gimmicky Dodge sells.

The color of the ambient lighting can change and they already showed the four door version. There's also an ice version as well.
Wish they would drop all the fake ICE muscle car noises and crap. We used to have that on our toy motorcycles as a kid and that's where they belong. But then I'm a minority in this consumer demographic. Prefer quiet and fast. No vroom vroom needed.
For the Mopar fans, you know this is really a remake of the 'Cuda and I'm a big fan of that.

In the UK, from some of those that believe we are in a climate crisis, there is a growing backlash against EVs, with it being pointed out that some of the bigger ones will have greater lifetime emissions than a small ICE car. Maybe they have a point...
Those emissions will not be coming FROM the car though, eh? It’s the emissions from producing said EV car verses ice vehicle emissions from the tail pipe. Frankly I’d rather not have those emissions around my house! :)

Its going to be interesting to see if they can convince Dodge customers to buy this thing. They aren't going to get a lot of EV enthusiasts to buy it, the fake noise, fake gear shifter and fake vibration are offensive to people who like EVs. The problem for Dodge is that their customers are particularly hostile to EVs, only 4% would consider buying one which is why they've added all of those gimmicks. But when faced with the choice between the electric Charger and the V6 Charger will they change their minds. The electric Charger will be much more powerful than the ICE Charger. If they grudgingly accept that EVs have more muscle do they buy the electric Charger or do they cross shop a Tesla which is much lighter, and therefore much quicker, and cheaper to boot
What is the price point?
@@TheEvilmooseofdoom They haven't said. The battery is 20% larger than the Model 3 and it's on a shared platform not an EV platform so it's going to be more expensive to build than a Model 3. Stellantis has been very clear that they aren't willing to take a loss on EVs so they will have to price it higher than the 3.
As heavy as that thing is I imagine the Arkansa State Police will have a hard time pitting them. But at least they can wait until they run out of juice. If the Biden administration is so worried about being green these things shouldn't be allowed.

Any honest mechanic would tell you that Dodge is extremely problematic. I wouldn't touch this with a 10 foot pole! This is a disaster. My son and I always enjoy watching Chrysler products broken down and on tow trucks. We get a good laugh.. Guess the future wont let us down.
Perhaps they can get it right with an EV which has far fewer parts to go wrong😊

I’ve owned several SRT cars including a 2012 Chrysler 300 SRT, 2015 Jeep SRT and 2016 Charger Hellcat.
For the most part, the new charger EV is a downgrade and every single aspect.
The old LX platform was paid for and so was the hemi engine by the time they had introduced the hellcats. Stellantis was able to sit on pure profit. Now they have “all new technology” which needs to be paid for which will be reflected in the higher price of the vehicles.
The interior is not that much of an upgrade over what we already have if you have a current scat pack or hellcat or demon. All I see is heated and cooled seats. I don’t see massage seats and I also don’t see autonomous driving.
This car will have a higher starting price than the current equivalent hemi powered vehicle.
This car has a much higher weight than the current equivalent hemi powered vehicle. These cars are going to weigh 6000 pounds with a driver. That’s more than a Durango hellcat and more than a jeep track hawk.
These electric vehicle Dodge models will also have a lower top speed at less than 140 mph. Meanwhile, our hellcats can exceed 200 mph.
For the most part, I hate TwinTurbo six cylinder engines because of the turbo lag. They also don’t produce. Sounds as good as what we currently have with the HELLCAT engines.
This is going to be an absolute hard sell.
I call it a bait and switch.
Scat pack does Zero to sixty in 3.3 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds. That’s pretty impressive for the scat pack.

This will be Dodge's greatest embarrassment. Muscle cars are petrol driven, period. This appeals to no one and the fake engine sound and simulated shaking is pathetic. Expect this to sell in vanishingly low numbers. Just another nail in the EV coffin.
