Once called a customer who'd said he was looking for a specific motorbike, colour and price. I found the exact bike he wanted and he came down an argued about price despite it being under his budget, left in a huff and I sold it ten minutes later. He came back after a half hour and was outraged it was sold " you knew I wanted it" he shouted. It was great.
He is going to reject it. Full refund. I would have refused to sell it to him. Nobody needs customers like that. A lesson to be learned here mate.

@Darren-pq5oc You should have taken it to trading standards. Dealerships have to provide warranty by law , comes under trading standards, separate to the finance underwritten by insurance firms. If it was bought with any finance they can often get all their money back if there is any chance the problem could have been there at time of purchase. Emphasis on could.
@Darren-pq5oc did you finance the car? If you did contact your finance company and get them to back the car for you. The finance company should help

You have to pick your customers these days.
you're just seeing one side of this. You have to understand how much of a cowboy outfit this is. They have a car with a long list of pending works and no MOT. They wait for a buyer to come and pay a deposit and then they fix the car up and MOT it.
This reeks of a cowboy outfit. This is not some specced to order car. the car is unroadworthy. A deposit should be taken with a guaranteed delivery date. Nobody wants to pay a deposit for a 10 year old meriva and wait a month to get the bloody car.
@@Professional_RUclips_Commenter I can understand why they don't want to MOT it first because then it's wasting MOT time before it sells. But I've just been shafted buying a used car without MOT beforehand and they said it would come with a 12 month MOT. It did come with an MOT but turns out it was a friendly MOT. The back suspension is leaking (air suspension) and the back brakes look quite low and the wear sensor has been disconnected.
@@Blitz9287 Id buy any car with an MOT more than 7 or 8 months. An MOT is just £55. Probably £40 with trade discount. That means the MOT costs £3.33 a month.
I think it's really cheeky to take a deposit for a car that is not ready to sell and might not be ready to sell. It's one way security for the seller. Who tricxked a 70 year old into paying it without a guarantee of an availability date,

I had a similar customer to your Meriva man and he just kept coming back and back over and over!!!

Series 3. Owner repaints the garage in rainbow colours and advertises all his cars as LGBTAIMAP2S++ and DEI approved. All staff wear rainbow overalls and adopt the gay voice. One staff member is chosen to work in full drag.....

Great to see the channel grow, and the business take off. Wasn't that long ago I was watching you fix the qashqai, one of your very early videos. Keep up the good work, one of my favorite channels, down to earth, straight to the point, and love the humor.
Love your channel, come across as a hard working and honest dealer.....I'm down south, but wouldn't hesitate to purchase a car off you.
For your safety and proof in the future....you must get CCTV with sound in your office/sales room.
Plus for your Mechanic for when you're off site, in case he's ever blamed by a customer.

Clutches , I wonder with people keeping cars a couple of extra years over covid they didnt do the maintenance on them , hence older cars having more work needed than they used to need

I know at work we ended up with a surge of cars needing mot that basically had a year without mot inspection due to the extension and the condition some of them had gotten to due to lack of inspection/maintenance was shocking

I can see its very tricky striking a balance between the quick turn-arounds and clearing all that dead wood. 40 years ago when I was in the car game we literally used to have a cull a few times per year and stick all the dead wood to auction with no reserves just to make space. not an easy thing to do when you look at each car and say "I can make £100 on that one as is" "we can trade this one on for a quick £50" "if we use this as a breaker we'll scrape a profit on spares" etc etc. in the end its all dead money and that money can be recycled back into new good stock. admittedly, back then money was expensive and difficult to borrow.

I hope the Meriva guy doesn't come back with warranty claims. I did mention the yellow Fiat 500 to another RUclips channel that is selling Fiat 500s atm, and got a yellow one from Ireland, in an auction where it was repossessed. Hi pal, got a 64 plate hyundai ix35 in white to get rid of. Low miles 68k, don't use it and mot just ran out. Few dents on bodywork but drives like new car. I'm based in Southport.
Shout out to you, Lee. You’re an old school grafter, don’t mind a bit of hard work. The used car business at this price point is the ultimate test of pragmatism. There are margins to have but they’re small, even on a good day. Volume is all very well, and has to be the way, but with that comes a cumulative exposure to warranty claims. On top of that is the mind bending challenge of remembering where everything is and knowing the clock is ticking on them all. All that said, it’s a lot more interesting than a late letter business.
In Law you can only keep actual provable losses, a deposit can not be a penalty for not completing the sale.
That Fiat 500 must be celebrating its 1 year birthday on the pitch now surely 😂 definitely more than 5 months

Neighbour had a 2009 Fiat 500 only 14,000 miles and it failed its MOT with a rotten rear axle. They got it replaced with a 2nd hand one and sold it on.
Hi Lee, that Yellow Fiat 500 from your Upload might have a Nice set of Aluminium Rims on same just wondering would you get a set of old rubbish Steel rims with old tyres, then you could swap... with the amount of Fiat 500 cars you're putting through you could enhance one of those with the Rims, and help lift the look of a future traded car... Might be too much work ... Just a thought...Great Upload...

The panda is a 319 model I have a 2012 one £35 tax and great on fuel , chunky tyres make for a comfy ride on british roads , it’s been more reliable than previous Audi A4 and vw Tourans I have had .
What a nightmare on that 500 🙈 Hate having a car that needs loads of little bits, gaitors, door handles, door trims etc.
I wouldn't have sold him any car and would have politely asked him to leave the premises.

The rear axels on them fiat 500's are exactly the same issue on the Fiat Panda, they all rot there !
Also imy Fiat 500 is a 2013 Lounge version i had to change the clutch and gearbox bearings and have just had it serviced , best offer i got from a dealer was £2500 and its only on £85 thousand so yeah a 2009 version you may be lucky if you get that £2 grand back but lots of young girls usually buy them so you might get lucky , Im just holding onto mine for now as no point selling a car thats all been fixed and losing £1000 as i paid £3 grand for it then had to pay near £500 out of my own pocket for repairs as the dealer would not cover the full cost of repair.

I had customer who was fridge repair and 2nd hand sales. Told tale he sold a fridge to a chap, who complained it didn't work. So he went to chaps home and showed him how to switch it on. Then buyer said, i don't like it. Ended up with police arriving and they said just take it and give the guy his money.
Next day chap phoned fridge man and said, i rather liked the fridge, can i have it back......
the rio im surprised a clutch at only 60k, my i20 the clutch lasted 100k miles and was on the original, i had the same thing it was good when cold i had 3 hour drive there and back to an appointment i decided country lane way so it had bit work on way back it must got to hot it was slipping like crazy for the last 15-20 miles and what a smell i got home but parking up it looked like it was dumped no way i was risking re adjusting normally the car has be be correct or i even start up and make it look neat a bit ocd but this time i got it on slight angle within the yellow lines i was not going to risk backing up as next door car was close ish so i left it as it was slipping and more slipping and bite a bit you could not risk parking close to someone. funny thing about week later the drive to garage it worked fine, sailed through mot with no advisory and few days later he took it for bit race as soon it got hot it do the same. total bill for a service an mot and new clutch kit fitted was £500 so overall i happy with that, of course you could do it cheaper but customer taking car to garage that not a bad price ive seen far worse quotes, was once quoted that for a back box i told them where to go and found one for £120 just as good and sounds slightly better. mines on 1.2 so a weaker clutch but mine managed 100k so must had a driver who was not bad at driving not an old lady riding the clutch

Clio is at paint, trax is still sitting in storage to go to paint, trax needs alot of paint so cannot get that in the shop until 1 of my larger paint jobs has come back

I got my Vivaro off them years ago and they have always serviced and MOT’d it for me. They have always been fine with me. When I bought it, any niggles etc were sorted out and I’ve had repairs over the years done there also.
@@simonrobertrhodes Thank mate I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. They seem like an honest place from the reviews but it's a 55 miles drive from me in Yorkshire and not much really on offer that's decent closer. I think a lot are keeping hold of the old reliables at the moment.

@@RogueTrader- make sure you ring him first as he could be out collecting vans. Mine a 2009 and it’s a basic model, no DPF, Adblue and all that bull. It just makes it more complicated. It’s actually Blackrod, not Adlington. Come off the M61 at Junction 6, Keeping left for Chorley. At the A6 roundabout turn right. At the speed camera, keep in the right hand lane to remain on the A6. Go down the bypass, turn right at next lights where the Ridgway pub is. Don’t go fast else you will miss the next turn. Cross the railway bridge then immediate left ( easy to miss ) through the gates, onto the cobbles & he’s on the left opposite the pallet yard.

You can't off made such a bad impression on the old bloke unless he didn't want to take it on the chin losing his deposit. Touch wiod the car will be brilliant and hes now a customer for rest of his remaining days. Must agree shift the Fiat 500 , if its not worth anything i know you said lee you wouldn't remove the engine but if its going to end up going for scrap etc doesn't it make sense getting less when weighing it in and having a spare engine if its half decent. As ever brilliant video , you didn't say what happened in Magalluf or we're ever in Majorca with the sadly deceased person ?

We had a low mileage one last year we did up and sold, this is another one with 21k on that needs work, I will sort it at some point. It does not owe a lot of money

Squeak on clutch will be slave on top of box, change loads
Yes common issue and we do loads of the CSC changes due to that annoying squeak, this noise is 100% internal, thrust bearing is the issue 😔

They don’t have CSC it’s external, cheapest at moment believe it or not at Halfords, £36 inc vat LUK with pipe but you obviously don’t change the pipe due to the connection under NSF arch they don’t normally suffer with release bearing, just the normal output bearing in gearbox
