Every team has off days. What I couldn’t understand was why at least half the team couldn’t pass the ball to their teammates.
Constantly gave the ball away, and no dig to get it back.

The most worrying thing is we ignored all the red flags from the cup final and put that down to an off day. The reality is they’ve found have found a way to nullify our game and Rodger’s didn’t try to find a solution to this after the cup final. This is the issue when you have one set style of play with the same patterns over and over again. Hope this is the wake up call Rodger’s needs or this won’t be the last poor result against them this season

Correct. Rangers had the superior tactics and Brendan ought to have made some key substitutions at half time, including Callum. He is not good enough in these type of games where the opposition put in some good marking and pressing. He sits too deep, so doesn't influence the attacking of Celtic enough.

May be a blessing in disguise. We need to remember never to let our guard down. They have been eratic this season but they have also had some good results in Europe. Any complacency is very wrong. The performance also highlights the need for a bit more competition in the squad and hopefully minds will be further focused on that during this January window.

Top job. Top chat. Can't see the players being spooked. They've gone there before and won with no fans. Rodgers went into that game 14 points ahead, a trophy in the cabinet, and on the verge of progressing in the Champions League. Clement went into the game knowing it could be his last, and having never beaten us. The hungrier team won, which is quite normal.

We were dreadful yesterday as a team and and we never learned any lessons from the League Cup Final where they played a mid block and nullified us a fair bit. However we've been brilliant for most of the season and I think this result is an outlier and it could be the best thing that happened to us anyway as we might've been thinking we'll win this league at a canter but now we'll realise league titles have to be earned and you need to put in a shift every game to get your medals at the end of the season. We play St Mirren on Sunday who took this sevco side apart seven days ago and Brendan needs to give them a kick up the arse they might need after a very poor performance on the day HH

Mentality/complacency one issue. If you’re off it in a derby then you can be punished despite any gap in quality. But the wider concern for me is how post Leipzig some teams have worked Celtic out a bit. Let centre backs have it, set up in mid block, man mark midfielders & have triggers to jump/press, e.g. when full backs invert or ball comes across half way line. We all knew they would set up the same way as the LCF & I (naively?) assumed Celtic/Rodgers would have analysed that & worked out different ways to build up through midfield to overcome their basic but ultimately effective set up & give them something different to think about. It was alarming how poor & one dimensional we were & we basically fell apart.

  • @peteroneill2
    @peteroneill2 2 дня назад

Our most successful move happened in the first minute or two when Scales' dinked a pass that over the heads of the midfield for Maeda to run on to. The move lead to a corner and Kyogo's missed opportunity. After that any ball that we played up field was in front of the Rangers defenders and midfielders, playing into their strengths. Why we stopped the high balls for Maeda and Kuhn to run on to is bamboozling!!

this is what ive been saying for MONTHS on these comments and numerous other celtic ones about hatate.
losing the ball 20x a game for the off chance he might create or score isnt worth it. thats potentially 20 shots away at out goal for what? the off chance he gets a decent pass or assist? and now youre saying hes had 2 assists this year. thts appalling and we should sell him.

    Wouldn't over analyse.
We controlled the 'engine room' throughout the game, effectively nulling McGregor.
Other teams will watch and take note.

A horrendous performance tbh and the brand of football we play is inviting defeat. There was no hunger or desire yesterday and rangers wanted it more. Calmac was well off the pace yesterday and the rest off the team gave the ball away constantly and i could tell after ten minutes this was not going to be our day. We need more physicality in the middle and defence as well. I'm maybe moaning but that was a wake up call even though we're eleven points in front. Lick our wounds and get back on track.

We can't deal with sides that sit of us until the halfway line then press us and hit us on the counter, we really struggle to play if we can't pass through the middle of teams or can't get our wingers involved we are afraid to go long and mix it up a bit, doesn't help when your manager keeps on players that are clearly miles off it Hatate and Scales should have been off at Half Time absolutely vile performance from both the rest of the team weren't much better, it's like we turned up to that game expecting a 4-0 win to be handed to us the players are lucky there still 11 clear but that was an utterly disgraceful performance yesterday from the manager and players, we had a great year last year no doubt but the players can't rest on that for a second it's gone now and we need to pull the finger out after that, I expect a big performance against St Mirren.

Midfield was all over the place. Far too slow and big gaps everywhere. Rodgers tactics was to push Taylor into midfield in the second half to make an extra man and that left Cerny in loads of space for every counter attack. Really poor tactics from Rodgers especially when Scales is having a nightmare the last thing he needs is the left back moving into midfield. When we play 433 against a pressing team we more often than not struggle and Rodgers needs to try other formations as our three man midfield gets easily over run in certain games.

In regards to Hatate possibly wanting a move to a richer club in a stronger league….. he’s going the wrong way about it!
Any scout of any sort of calibre who has watched his last 10 games or so, will surely have the words AVOID. TOO MANY DOUBTS” in huge red ink capital letters beside Hatate’s name.
He’s far too inconsistent to ever play in a top European league. Yesterday was Hatate at his worst. Absolutely powerpuff in defence and so careless on the ball that it’d have been funny if it wasn’t happening to my team.
That’s not to say his 10 team mates played well, far from it, but the fact is that was absolutely woeful from Hatate and if he’s looking for a move, the only move he’ll get playing like that is a move to the development team!

I've been saying for months that Hatate is too inconsistent and when.he"s off it he is so off it that it costs us hugely against teams who can capitalize..He seems an endearing quiet fella and is very gifted but something prevents consistency in him and it's gone on too long

Some of you in these comnents need to take a real long hard look at yourselves 😂 like can celtic have no conpetition, are we only "good" and able to win titles if every other team is shit? Half of you sound like your crumbleing? Seriously wise up hahah

Calmac was too slow. Greg Taylor hid after his last woeful derby. Scales, Hatate & Bernardo just gave the ball away. A starting XI without those 5 would have won the game...I like the virus idea, the virus obviously made those 5 incapable of passing a ball.

I think that possibly there was fear in the players because of the hatred that usually comes from Rangers fans at Ibrox. They weren't looking for the ball. Rangers have had to deal with the same at Celtic. Sometimes the mind gets distracted.

As much as I can criticise the players for not showing up. And if that is the obvious reason then Rodgers gets a pass. But twice now it's been a slog. And I am afraid to say Brenda needs to rethink things tactically and maybe personal wise too. I didnt think we needed any more midfielders but after seeing hatate, bernadette and engels go MIA I am kinda worried we need more in the middle. Shows how far o Riley was and a big loss.

It's a genuinely baffling display from Celtic. I am looking for a valid explanation for this and all I can come up with is outlandish but it's the only way I can make sense of it. I'm hoping that it was part of a genius plan from Rodgers i.e. he knew that if Celtic won the game Clement would be gone so he has played the long game by making sure Clement remains in post!! What else explains it???

Players just didn't look bothered, drives me nuts when we make Sevco look good and they think it's a great victory a team full of bang average players it's just not acceptable. Same old suspects for us time and time again not showing up Hatate, Scales and Taylor, basically the whole team but should have been Engels/McCowan, Trusty and Valle from the start. Also just don't buy the were enough points in front chat to walk about in an old firm game, it's 17 points instead of 11 enough motivation right there.
Nasty outfit from top to bottom is Sevco.
