Superb analysis lads ! It’s painful to lose against them but worse when we simply don’t turn up ! Loads of very valid points from you two which I hadn’t thought about , in fact as the game went on the faster the beer was going down 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲 As for KT I’ve been calling it for 2 months , it’s a no brainer , ok he needs managed playing time wise but he’s exactly what we need .. Jota would be a helluva signing as well 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We were awful yesterday and maybe it might be a wake up call that was needed not just for the manager but also the players and supporters that theirs still work to be done and nothing can be taken for granted. Only pass for me was CCV. Great analysis again bhhoys.
Budapest 1972 was a memory I'll never forget. Ujpest Doza v Celtic. Liz Taylor & Richard Burton were staying at the same hotel as us traveling Celtic fans. They treated us to a night of food and drink, and the Big Man sang "I Belong To Glasgow". We'll Never Walk Alone" 🍀
I think all good teams heid warning signs and there have been a few. BRUGGE. Zagreb, Dundee United Aberdeen and the league cup final all showed that teams were using a system which negated a lot of what we have been doing well. We should definitely be taking note and be looking to tweak system to relieve the pressure on the centre backs. They need more help from the rest of the team.
Balanced response as always guys and I agree with most comments. However one thing I don't agree on is Hatate. I think you let him off far too easy. For me he is offering nothing and is now damaging the team with his slack play. People keep saying he is that one creative spark etc etc. He has 2 assists in 29 games this season. Not good enough.
@@PaddyTCEyeah absolutely agree mate. Comparing Hatate to McCowan - McCowan has 9 assists vs Hatates 2 and he has played about 60% of the minutes Hatate has. I'm hoping Luke gets a run in the team now alongside Engles. Cheers Paddy, take care mate.
Think the tactics were way wrong and have been since the brugge game. If we are going to play this way we need centre backs who can make the passes required to break the initial press teams are now using against us. It is not fair to expect Liam Scales to do something his skill set is lacking then criticise him for trying to make the passes. We need to find a new way of building play and getting the midfield involved or get better centre backs who can play this system.
Hi Guys. Enjoyed the show and some positivity. Thought worth a mention: Scales was blamed for the first goal and bernardo for not taking a yellow. Also Luke got a mention for no3. You were a bit fuzzy on No2, maybe because it was Maeda that was at fault. The ball came into the penalty area Daizen was marking Raskin, Daizen wasnt concentrating on the ball, raskin got the jump on him, Daizen leapt up like a balerina nowhere near the ball. Raskin won. Just thought i would set that one straight. Credit or blame where its due. I think it was a bit more than an off day, Kilmarnock away, Falkirk at Home, Them twice now, have shown if you get physical with us and agressively press - we dont do that well. Quite a few of our boys lack the dig thats sometimes required in scottish football. Tough day, bottles start to go, that side of its hard on the eye and heart, Aye i know we are in the driving seat.
Great show as always lads and knew I could count on you both to be grounded in reality and not be overreacting. I think it's quite simple. That one is on the manager. We lost that game because of tactics. Individual players getting hammered only made errors they were forced into. Not all that worrying for me tbh. Clement has figured out how to play against Celtic. They still lack any sort of identity or style whatsoever. If they figure out how to beat the other 10 teams in the league when the expectation is on them to win then I might be a little concerned, but we all know that aint happening any time soon. We'll get back to winning ways and make the tactical adjustments required when they roll up to Parkers in March, no doubt about it. Tino, Paddy - have a class night lads 💚
That's OK Paddy ! I have a wee black cat who has been with us for nineteen years now. She follows me all over the house asking for the odd treat now and then.
I tend to look at things from a different perspective ! If Celtic had gone seventeen points clear on January 2nd, the league as a competitive race was over. We have trouble enough getting people to come and play here and make our product more attractive to outsiders, so having the rest of the season look like a dead rubber would not be the best thing for the cash flow in our league, plus its reputation.
@chezdoff9926 In my book we are 11 points ahead and that's the book I want to read you get 3 points agsinsed every team you beat not just the ragers and we are miles better at that😊
I dont think there's anything wrong with a little clip into the channel every now and again when you have 2 flying machines out wide. If we keep playing out every single time the opposition know exactly what's coming and can set up for it like they have managed the past 2 derbies. Give them something different to think about every so often
I'd give Scales, AJ, Maeda, Kuhn 2/10, Taylor, McGregor, Hatate, Kyogo, Bernardo 3/10....9 out of the starting 11 were 3/10 or worse - that cant all be on the players having a bad day. Let's say approx. 25% is on the players 75% on the managers and a lack of preparation/ideas to cope with Sevco's system. They have had creeping success agst us recently, Rodgers needs to figure out the weaknesses in their system and exploit them to win games, otherwise we will lose to them again - that is obvious. He will for sure need to adapt how we play in order to do this, he could do worse and watch how Liverpool play, agst teams who press/man mark like the huns did yesterday, Liverpool play it in behind much earlier and more often than we do. On current form/tactics we are steadily heading back to conservative Rodgers of old, which is all sideways slow build up, it's a consistent theme with Rodgers when he has something to lose.
Tino says oeople forget Atalanta performances.... ok, but are you forgetting Hibs, Zagreb, Bruge, Cup Final, the return of the aimless horseshoe, and setting up Calum on his own as the CDM against better teams is pathetic and predictable. And Brendans arrogance is off the chart, why would he leave Scales and Hatate on for so long. His arrogancea massive factor that cost us the game. Comparing this Rangers team to Dick Advocate's is brain damage - absolutely no comparison
Celtic were unbeaten in all those games you mention @Macaroon - we even lifted a cup in one of them. So while we all know it needs to be much better than it was yesterday some of the response has been OTT. Also, no one compared this Rangers team to the one under Dick Advocaat. All I said was that O'Neill also suffered a poor result in an otherwise successful season, nothing at all about comparing those sides.
@TheCelticExchange it was the performance in those games, I would have thought that was obvious, I even said "performance". And you were comparing it to the O'Neil season, otherwise why even mention it?
I agree to point but the system was read by Bruges and Zagreb in games we could've won -it cost us yesterday and we did ride our luck in.the cup final -it is costing us in big games
How much is it really 'costing' us Patrick? We won the cup, and we picked up valuable points in Europe against Brugge and Zagreb. It can be a lot better than yesterday, of course it can, but one poor result amongst many good ones isn't a time for panic
@@TheCelticExchange Aye no panic but i think despite a point in each no disaster we could definitely have one of the matches v Bruges or Zagreb if there'd been quicker ball like Bernardo's dink yesterday for the offside goal and less cautionary sideways and backwards stuff -Kuhn and Maeda too often found themselves back to goal when they receive passes in those matches and yesterday's
Firstly , poor poor performance , utter complacency from the team although sevco did what we didn't, they took full advantage and no wonder when we have Hatate giving the ball away continuously in midfield or just whenever he had the ball in general, have to say not just against them but I have noticed since the end of last season and all of this season he ain't cutting it guy's..........his passing is woeful not to say his first touch is amateurish , he won't charge forward with the ball taking players on and has no or little physicality in any game .......think he should go . We need 2 attacking midfielders and a forward who can execute on site of goal inside or outside the box , now Brendan is a good manager but why isn't he changing it up more , we are to predictable in Europe and certainly domestically and it's costing us , Maeda running through the middle of sevco defence behind Kyogo would've gave them the skitters because they closed Maeda out on the wing so my point is why didn't Brendan change it at half time and cause sevco a problem or two , fairly certain they wouldn't have expected something new , even after their 2nd he still made the subs on the 60min mark as predicted, we need changes quick because teams will be lining thinking they've got us sussed as sevco did . Players like Keiran Tierney had their shot with us and has had over a DOZEN injuries since 2019 and even a pay as you play contract is still not suitable for us going forward trying to rebuild with young fresh talent , it isn't a long term solution! It's an appeasement and to be honest it's quite impulsive window shopping and we must have other options available for the same or more cash , what club buys a player aged 27 that's injury prone? That's going backwards again . Time for change is now ! !
Thank you Paddy -i've said it on few shows today -all that 'horseshoeing' around and the playing balls to players with backs to goals -we were a flag away from 1-1 with a dink over the top from Bernardo and we stopped doing it
Tino paddy , some of the arrogance shown in the score predictions prior to this game were out of this world , i think we all new he would play the same way as the cup final , This is were i disagree with paddy playing the same way at their place is all down to BR , and yes he has done well but being honest we have been hit and miss for a few weeks ,we just need to get over it and get back too it on Sunday , hope you are all well Hail Hail
There was no change tactically yesterday. Normally, Brendan makes a change, better teams like Dortmund, Club Brugge, Rangers twice now have been able to get at this Celtic team, beat their press and passing game. I would like to think that major learnings would be learned by the Celtic management and coaching team. What is Celtic's tactical move to get around such teams who have sussed us out?
There was a change in the second half. He moved Taylor into midfield which left Cerny in acres of space on the right wing and gave Scales who was having a nightmare even less cover. I keep hearing that Rodgers is an elite manager but ive yet to see the proof tbh.
1st goal summed it up for me terrible passing all game summed up by Scales' pass. Powder puff tackling summed up by Bernardo on Raskin and slow summed up by Schmeichel trying to get down to the shot
3 games ago we had a 9 point lead now we have a 11 point lead it was a dire performance but sort what wasn’t working please no longer this Scales and Taylor lovefest they need ditched
No one arguing aout the starting 11,what so annoying is why e did not try and fix it earlier when everyone could easily see players needed hooked early on
Predictability! Was Celtics undoing, they always play out from the back. Rangers bossed the midfield, McGregor again nullified. Taylor seems to attract all the blame, Johnson wasn’t any better though. Scales had a shocker. If you start of your build up play, the same way every time, your gifting you opponent the tactical high ground. I can’t see Brendan changing, other sides will have been watching and know what’s needed.
I don’t know if anyone else noticed this but I could tell from the managers pre match interview he seemed a bit slow to answer questions, as if preoccupied by something. This is what I thought at the time but maybe reading too much into this?
Was galling to watch that performance but then as so often said, guess what, players are human and humans make mistakes. More reflective about it now than just after the game when you get lost in the emotion of it all. Agree with you tho that you learn more from your defeats than your victories but it’s what you do with that knowledge that determines how you progress as a team. Anyway on to St Mirren, Brendan it’s over to you!
We don’t need to change the system ,but we need to in game time tweak it to our advantage ,when you are able to see what was happening yesterday in the derby hh .joe little Ireland 🙏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💰💰💰🏆🏆👍😎
The in game tweak Rodgers made was to move Taylor into midfield to make an extra man in the second half and leave Cerny in acres of space on the right wing. Amateur stuff from Rodgers.
happy new year tino , can't even wrap my mind yesterday, the usual 2 Taylor and scales in my opinion were targeted and are still our weak points , thought hetate was terrible could name another few tbh don't think the run in shall be a breeze now,
Celtic are 11 points clear at the top of the league & top of the trophy haul at 119, sickening display & result yesterday, never want to see anything like it again from the hoops but they are sitting at the top ☘️
Midfield is NOT press resistant. Scales peaked for Aberdeen. Taylor head appears gone. A terrible football team full of strong, athletic players stops our midfield from playing and exposes our defence - so watch out for Young Boys, the CL version of SEVCO 5088, sorry, the Huns, oopsy, the ranjurs. Hatate, Bernardo, Daizen and Kuhn waiting for the pass to arrive, too passive...but HORRENDOUS service from Taylor, Scales, AJ and a completely ineffective CalMac. Before everyone discovered 'man mark CalMac, let Scales have the ball and force the turnover', we didn't need a 'traditional #6'...now I think we do. We also need a midfielder that can play through balls to Kyogo, otherwise they're happy concede the wide areas in the knowledge that both wingers will turn into a crowded centre 80% of the time. Someone like, oh, I don't know... a Matt O'Riley say...sigh...tears of what could have been this season... It might be time to play lefties and righties on the proper wings again too...pfft, I'll be wanting the goalie to hoof it to the big guys and hope for the best next, but I'd rather leave that to the Huns. At least now I can have some real sympathy for the 'peepul' at the cesspit - this must be how they feel after 19 out of 20 derbies! Chins up, let's see how we bounce back from this and/or what Santa brings us in the Transfer Window.
Hard not to get the scatter gun out but , hatate been off it mostly for weeks and don’t start me on gregg taylor , a player quite obviously with one foot out the door and mind elsewhere, a guess we aren’t used to seeing such a capitulation against them !!! #119 🇮🇪🏴
Patrick, Martin’s team beat Rangers 6-2 then went to Ibrox and got beat 5-1. Obviously a better Rangers team back then, but still a thumping. Ps Martin is a saint in my eyes.
Yeh, not quite comparing the two as managers as such, just pointing out that MON also suffered poor results at times. Will be important to see how BR responds to this one 👍
We won't win the treble if we play them in the cup and play anything like that -we wouldn't beat Aberdeen, Motherwell, Dundee Utd, Hibs amongst others playing like that
@@TheCelticExchange I hear you but at no point have we played as poorly as yesterday other than Dortmund and i think if we had that kind of day against them or a few other teams in the cup the treble would be gone
Bad game off the boil . Onto the next. Some fans are a disgrace turning the whole team under the bus cos we lost. Lots to go and new blood to come in also . Trophy will be lifted in May . In Roger’s I trust 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
H n y t I n o paddy Taylor is a big problem he’s is our weakest link and has been since ,he joined us every team knows that and I mean every team get rid now before he causes any more chaos at the back. Joe. Little. Ireland 🙏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💰💰💰🏆🏆👍😎
Never heard so much shite in my life, every excuse in the book not to criticise the manager. Fact is, Rodgers made all the same mistakes as the cup final and the players shat themselves. Own it.
We did question the manager at points. We spoke about him not wanting to change a system that has been successful and he will look to bring quality to each area sitting weak for us. The cup final chat is baffling considering we lifted the cup. I think the amount of rotation lately is what is hampering us tbh but needed over the course of the season.
Own it 😂 Aye ok. We've covered it in depth here, accepted they were better and deserved the win and given our various opinions on why. All those mistakes in the Cup Final still saw us lift the terophy btw
I mean we gave Rangers full credit, said they were the better team, and that they deserved the win Stewarty. Think that was enough praise for the one epiosde. Thanks for the genius comment though. Very kind and not snidey at all 👍🏻
They punted the ball long knowing we wid play oot Fay back , and then picked aff the poor passing , simple , rogers should hiv flipped it , and done the same , or is that too easy , they hiv worked oot oor system and just wait on the mistake to happen 🤷🏼♂️
@ if that big dumpling over there kin d that in 2 games against us , rogers needs a plan b , edha kin play up top t hold it in , then play f there , the players pissed the bed in that toxic atmosphere, could not make a pass of a couple o feet t 1 another, 🍀
Good show lads. Got to say the hatate wasn’t great comment he’s got to be the biggest understatement I’ve heard in a long while. Absolutely atrocious or utter fuckin shite would have been more appropriate. The guys a myth, and has been for a while now. And see this ‘on his day’ stuff to! When exactly is his day? I keep hearing he’s this creative force who is the only one capable of anything creative. Check his assist record for this season and explain to me where this narrative has come from. We’ve far to many players in that team who act like superstars when your Ross county’s and the rest of the dross let us do what we like. Come up against any decent set up and press and we are found wanting. This isn’t the past few weeks, this has been months. Brugge Zagreb x2 Huns Aberdeen Dundee Utd all a struggle. Nobody can argue where we are in the league and we’ve done well in Europe for a change, but this is a pattern that has crept in unfortunately. Same issues as we’ve had for god knows how long down that left hand side! How can we be in Rodgers 4th window and not 1 defender he’s signed is deemed good enough to play? How can we still be having scales and Taylor as first picks? That yesterday was a massive reality check for all the we’ve got a great squad crew! It’s simply not the case
This is what happens when scales and Taylor are our defence. 400, 500 quid for season tickets and they 2 embarrassments are your main defenders is alarming ..cheque book better get out in January cause scales and Taylor better be getting replaced
The fact that not 1 defender signed by Rodgers in 4 windows is deemed good enough to start the game yesterday tells you all you need to know. Taylor and scales have never been good enough. They do a job in a piss poor league up against a basket case from across the road. If the pressure was on week in week out against a decent challenge, your Taylor’s scales and a few more would be found out big style! Their massive flaws are hidden in a team that dominates 90 odd percent of domestic games in which we play. Put them in a Dundee Utd or hibs defence, and we’ll see if they shine! Absolutely no fuckin chance!
We did change the system for Atalanta after the Dortmund warning. We didn't do the same after the League Cup final warning.

Hadn't noticed that Jonathan but maybe something to it. Once the whistle blows though the full focus should have been on the game though
I think maybe negligence ,::is a better word ,rather than arrogance ,watching that game yesterday ,.::joe. Little. Ireland 🙏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💰💰💰🏆🏆👍😎
Strong words JD!
Our personnel needs to change NOW. Scales and Taylor proved what most fans think of them. Complete embarrassments
happy new year tino , can't even wrap my mind yesterday, the usual 2 Taylor and scales in my opinion were targeted and are still our weak points , thought hetate was terrible could name another few tbh don't think the run in shall be a breeze now,
I still think the run in will be relatively comfortable Neilly but some quality additions this window would def help with that
Celtic are 11 points clear at the top of the league & top of the trophy haul at 119, sickening display & result yesterday, never want to see anything like it again from the hoops but they are sitting at the top ☘️
100% Obbhoy, wee bit of perspective is important 🍀
Celtic need another Scott Brown in the middle, someone who can tackle
We could really do with a physical, aggressive defensive midfielder Monti
Constantly giving the ball away and I mean constantly
Was incredible just how many times we gave it away cheaply
I don't think celtic did learn their lessons against Dortmund , the Atalanta game just suited Ce,tics play style better
Surely some credit where its due for that one Graeme?! Atalanta are a side now sitting towards the top of Serie A btw
Hard not to get the scatter gun out but , hatate been off it mostly for weeks and don’t start me on gregg taylor , a player quite obviously with one foot out the door and mind elsewhere, a guess we aren’t used to seeing such a capitulation against them !!!
#119 🇮🇪🏴
Several guys were v poor on Thursday CCW, it can happen, but not usually all at the same time!
We need a sense of perspective. It was an off day. The time to worry would be if we continue to struggle against their tactics.
Have you not been watching games.
@The_Macaroon Yes I have. Granted, we've not been playing well but the reaction to this defeat has been over the top.
Martin O'Neill was more adaptable than Brendan Rodgers and i think that's what made him a better manager i think
If only we knew how Rangers were going to play.....
😀 See what you've done there tbf....
When teams play hi tempo football against us we struggle
Sometimes
Cat strongly disagreeing with Tino 😹😹
Cat knows its stuff HM 😀
looks to me like they didnt want to win so they just went through the motions and didnt give a fukk, not what you want from a team
We won't win the treble if we play them in the cup and play anything like that -we wouldn't beat Aberdeen, Motherwell, Dundee Utd, Hibs amongst others playing like that
Even though that our system of playing saw us unbeaten in 34 games domestically? And lose just twice in the whole of 2024?
@@TheCelticExchange I hear you but at no point have we played as poorly as yesterday other than Dortmund and i think if we had that kind of day against them or a few other teams in the cup the treble would be gone
Garry Taylor’s head doesn’t appear gone it’s never been there ffs never he is (crappp) allways has been joe little Ireland 🙏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪💰💰💰🏆🏆👍😎
He wasnt the worst yesterday tbf Joe
It’s a small blip .
Hope so David 👍
Without a Yang we have no bang 💥 we all know it now lol
More Yang required Jamie 😀
Bad game off the boil . Onto the next. Some fans are a disgrace turning the whole team under the bus cos we lost. Lots to go and new blood to come in also . Trophy will be lifted in May . In Roger’s I trust 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
Hopefully we see a reaction against St Mirren @sean 👍🍀
This genius claims 'they (Rangers) are not bringing a threat in these games' - 6 goals in the two games. I wonder what it'd look like if they did. 🤣
I mean we gave Rangers full credit, said they were the better team, and that they deserved the win Stewarty. Think that was enough praise for the one epiosde.
Thanks for the genius comment though. Very kind and not snidey at all 👍🏻
@@TheCelticExchange haha I was only teasing. ;-)
They punted the ball long knowing we wid play oot Fay back , and then picked aff the poor passing , simple , rogers should hiv flipped it , and done the same , or is that too easy , they hiv worked oot oor system and just wait on the mistake to happen 🤷🏼♂️
Very simplistic way to look at it James. Dont think playing long to Kyogo, Maeda & Kuhn (given their height) would have been the move
@ if that big dumpling over there kin d that in 2 games against us , rogers needs a plan b , edha kin play up top t hold it in , then play f there , the players pissed the bed in that toxic atmosphere, could not make a pass of a couple o feet t 1 another, 🍀
An unfortunate pothole on the road to success .Onwards and upwards! nothing but a bruised ego. winners fatigue gets to the best of us!
Nice way to look at it James 🙌🍀
