    Quick universal joint Fix to get your boat back on the water where it belongs. If for some reason you encounter a loss of power odd sound or low top end speed odds are your universal joint grub screws are loose or the universal joint has been compromised... Either way it's a quick fix.

    Love the tech videos as much as the bashing. Helped me out fixed my drive cable end that started to fray temp with soldering and grinding get another on the way. See a missing grub screw on my tug but no issues, installed a cheap amazon pump, you get what you pay for,installed the horizon pump wow what a difference shoots water pretty far now. Emergency lights and flags for the rescue arms, peace, Boat gang for life.

    The effort that you avoid by moving the nut away from the shaft tube, ends on the motor bearings... So I rest the nut right on the tube without play but without constraint either.

    Very first time my prop hit weeds the same thing happened. Trying to get the boat back to shore was a challenge. I needed a rescue boat to rescue my rescue boat. Very poor construction on this part. I love the rest of the boat. Had the Blackjack 42 out for the second time and hit 61MPH plus the best flip and recovery ever recorded with a go pro mounted. Working on the video. Look for it. Waiting for your top speed runs with the 42 with tabs but you have so many boats I understand it's hard to get to all of them. Lucky you. Take Care.

    Hi awesome informative video...its an awesome tug boat ive just gotten mine aswell & doin some mods like upgrading the motor to a Traxxas 775 Titan for a lil more pep/power & changin out the servo & radio to a spektrum... as seeing this coupler improvement,would using JB weld to secure the pressed brass fittings be a good idea,more like a "perm.fix" or just swap out for a metal coupler? Also input a teflon washer between the prop/shaft for a lil'better spacing.... awesome videos tho...keep up the good work...!

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  2 года назад

      I think your on the right track with the jb weld either way will hold. Those splines will lock it in tight. Metal universal would be best, make sure it's the right length the HH has an extra long sleeve

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  Год назад +1

      Personally I'd go with a cheap brushed esc only because I've been running my tug boat in salt water. Ive used Dynimite marine brushed esc's in the past with great success. Not sure how well it will pair with the big tug boat motor though?

    I'm the somebody trying to get the shaft back in. What flex screwdriver were you using? I ordered one from amazon and it's too big to fit inside to get to the screws. I actually got the screws out by being resourceful but want an easier way to get them back in. FYI. Used the 3 BLADE Prop from Offshore Electrics on the 42 last weekend. Hit 72 mph right away then flipped and cracked the rear deck. Working on fixing it. Drive system on this boat is weak. Look out for weeds. Keep up the videos. I'm a believer.

    • @IRONCLADRC

      I used this flex driver flex shaft, I also cut down the bit. I basically cut the bit on half with a cut off wheel, makes it a little more low profile.

      Mine was leaking where the topside & bottom side is connected, the seem there's a "hand rail" that goes around the boat I used CA where the seam is. its right under the "HAND RAIL" super thin CA Seemed to do the trick.

    Nice boat, but not worth anywhere near the $440 bucks with a brushed motor, and way too many problems and bad reviews. If they ever lower the price and correct the issues I would get one.
