I just watched this last week. I know I am very late seeing this series. But, this series broke me in half. I feel they would have gotten back together. America is far away from Ireland but not impossible.
i just watched it all yesterday and i feel like i cant move on, i dont think ive ever cried so hard over a series/movie ever the ending broke me and i cried like every episode i was just so invested
The book and show broke me, but also helped me piece together parts of me that had been broken far too long. It helped me heal from things I never truly healed from.
I started to cry so badly, the way you put these videos and sounds together is just magic! In my opinion this is the most beautiful love story but as well the most realistic, destroying and hurting one... pure magic
and its very realistic cause even though you can love the person your in a relationship with your insecurities, depression, expectations from other people can really hinder your communication
"I'm never gonna feel the same way for anyone else, Marianne Ily" this line by Connel is intriguing. How beautiful would it be if they were together from the beginning. Excluding all the ups and downs!

i finished this show last night after binging all twelve eps over the last two nights, and i don’t know why, but i just melted into these characters. i am an emotional person when it comes to films and to shows i’ll admit, but during this show i must have whole heartedly sobbed at least four times. it’s amazing and i know it’s a show that will stay with me for a really long time.
we may need a support group, this series was beautiful and tragic all at the same time, I'm convinced the connection these two had could never come to an end
This show really crushed me emotionally, my heart feels crushed as if I was going through a breakup in real life. The ending really got me, I do feel by the end they were soulmates and those don't come easily in life. I so desperately hoped one would have said to the other that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives and grow old together. Communication was really their biggest downfall and I felt that was mostly solved by the end.
SAME. That line is such a punch in the gut because Connell said it during their early stages too, but Marianne was the one who couldn't see it. It describes their relationship to a T. Chef's kiss 😘👌🏼
I have a friend online whom I'm very fond of and have feelings for but more than anything would never want to jeopardise our friendship. We haven't spoken in months and we go through long periods of this as she has to step away from contact and people when she has a lot on and feels burnt out. I always give her space and only send a message every few months to check-in. Despite wanting to call. However, she recently gotten into a relationship with someone. Saying I was gutted is an understatement. She posted about how she always thinks about Fleabag and Normal People.. and how it makes her want to scream and cry.. which just haunted me. There must be things she relates to especially of 'unfulfilled love'. I've been curious about NP yet can't bring myself to watch it yet because it's too painful even though we only had a friendship. Whatever happens. I just want her in my life. We really connected and had meaningful conversations. I loved our chats. She's incredible. I hope we resume contact and still be friends. I don't know why I typed this out and really hope she doesn't read this. Feels like oversharing. I may delete. Still, these are my feelings.
I hadn't cried in 8 years before watching this edit. Watching this made me realise how lonely I was and how much I craved the ethereal connection that normal people portrays. For me, breaking was the first step towards healing, so I thank you for making this❤

After finishing the final episode, I realised my sadness was not due to the ending of the story and their parting of ways, but rather, my own deep fear that I'll never experience a love so strong...
their dynamic is realistic but unhealthy. the show essentially embodied the rs between me and a friend of mine, it's full of confusion and yearning. it may sound romantic but it's honestly very sad and draining most of the time. i wish you will find a strong bond and a healthy type of love instead of this

They both had reasons for not risking communicating better, or assuming what the other thought, etc. When they were younger, their immaturity, plus Connell is dealing with social anxiety, class issues, being raised by a single mother/no father, unsure of himself/direction. Marianne seems confident because she doesn’t struggle socially quite the same way, but in relationships, coming from an abusive family, she doesn’t feel like she deserves love, or the only way to be loved is to do whatever the other person wants. But as they mature through college, you can see where they are improving on their issues, the biggest testament being he will go to NY. As she says in one of the final episodes to her fiend, I think first year me would not believe how content I am, etc.
It is definitely real but its born from Fearful Avoidant or insecure attachment in general. I think that they were both FA and Marianne leaned towards anxious attachment, while Conell leaned towards avoidant. They polarise each other. Its definitely not the healthiest version of love that there is. More pain and suffering than happy moments. Finding someone secure is definitely a better option even though it may look more "boring". Then again if healthy, stable love looks "boring" to someone, then they are probably not that healthy themselves lol
Watching this after me & my boyfriend just broke up. We did so much good for one another. But he doesn’t know how to communicate or how to protect our relationship. This reminded me that relationships don’t have to last forever to mean something good. I’ll always be thankful for the relationship we had and how he helped me through health issues. And I’m sure he’s thankful for how I helped him love himself more & not let everyone always walk over him. Hope we both stay thankful for it and never turn bitter about it needing to end. One of the last things we said to eachother was “a relationship should feel better than this, right? It shouldn’t feel so exhausting and as if we are holding eachother back” and he agreed. Breaks your heart to realize that, but also thankful we didn’t end it hating eachother. We ended it still respecting one another and still loving one another. ❤️
This programme got me through tough times and always made me shed light on the world. Made me remember loves of the past and the good we did one another as marianne puts it so beautifully ❤️
This show captured such a beautiful connection between these two characters. But also between these two actors. #DaisyEdgarJones and #PaulMescal were so incredible separately and completely spellbinding together. Daisy and Paul’s chemistry and ability to so deeply connect coupled with the directing, cinematography, writing and music of the show was like nothing I’ve ever seen. I have never been so moved by any other piece of film or television. Thank you for editing this together. It’s so beautifully put together.

Marianne was broken by her complete and utter turd of a family and Connell’s neglect in the early years. He didn’t realise that she adored him until the end. That she survived all that crap and went through a period of abuse and came out at the fighting at the end gives us all hope.

My relationship is like theirs, im kinda insecure and have commitement issues, i love him so much, I adore him, but i find it hard to say it, more like scared that i might ruin everything, sometimes i feel like i dont deserve being loved. It doesnt make sense, im trying to not overthink but i cant help it, i relate to Marianne a lot, and i hate myself sometimes for being like this, but my relationship with him is strong, it's bee' 4 years and i can feel the bond between us is tight. Unlike me, he did tell me he loved me.
I used to have the same issues but as I was growing older, I realised that we need to feel our emotions in the moment..there is no safety or reassurance that you will feel the same forever o that two people will stay together. Things change and so do feelings. All you can do is say what you feel since it is about a person you know well enough and you have shared moments with. Of course my advice would be stay strong and independent and not to rely completely on a relationship because that could crush you if it doesn't work out 🙄enjoy your life and take care of yourself!😍

I didn't know of this show an it hit me lick a truck. So heartbreakingly beautiful, sweet, sensitive, relatable... a story of wonderful people thinking they do not deserve to be loved the way they should. Especially Marianne... I could see myself so much in her. This just blew a hole into my heart and brought me back to dark moments of my life. But their love is so pure, ugh I hope I get to feel like that again.
I've only heard good things about the book!! I think I'm holding back on reading it because I know it's the last experience I'll have with the characters :')

I somehow remember the movie One Day with this one, not just because Daisy looked like Anne but, I dunno..the feels I get with the two film is different but at the same time the same.
God the atmosphere in the setting in the first season was off the wall - I actually think they're a terrible relationship and Marianne could do soooo much better but you could show anything in that Irish scenery and it'd look absurdly romantic.

God the atmosphere in the setting in the first season was off the wall - I actually think they're a terrible relationship and Marianne could do soooo much better but you could show anything in that Irish scenery and it'd look absurdly romantic.
I finished reading the book, and I'm ready for another mental breakdown watching the show.
I am 17. Haven't the smallest clue what love is. But this show came pretty close to telling me what it is.
