Keep the Poly, rebuild it, stroke it, mild cam, 4bbl..... absolutely a big finned classic. (Put that old hemi in an open cowl hotrod, maybe a pickup, that gets street attention.)
I agree,especially if it's just a cruiser. The hemi'sgoing to be thirsty, less driveable and more work/money. And you see hemi's everywhere. But the poly is a great and often overlooked engine.

That old 59 Plymouth is a sweet ride. Glad she pulled through and got you and Steve home. Just the fact she sat for 45 years and then drove 2000 miles is amazing in itself. They definitely don't make them like that anymore! I would just rebuild the old poly and enjoy her for what she is. Hope you have miles of smiles driving her. 😀

Oh and for the record, a Super Walmart is even bigger then what you just saw in that Buckies as the largest Super Walmart is some 260,000 square feet or 79,248 square meters.

Still running the original Carter BBD 2bbl that she was born with. I swapped it out with one of those Strombergs for a while and it was great but I’m back to being completely the way she left Detroit a long time ago.

That's absolutely amazing that car made it that far without blowing up. My V10 ram was left for dead for 15 years and it runs perfect after I put a new fuel pump in and a used original transmission.
I love when you and Uncle Tony get together. If I could afford it, I'd get you to work on a 68 or 69 Torino 4 door for me. I'm definitely a Ford guy but I respect Tony and the Mopar clan. Thanks for the videos

I know if it was me, I'd definitely have a hard time separating the original heart from the chassis. Especially since with minimal work it just drove 2k miles mostly flawlessly. My vote is keep the poly. There will be other projects for the hemi in the future.
Congratulations, she looks amazing. So my 2 cents, set her up for towing. HD brakes, beef up the trany, maybe a dana 60 in back, and a class 5 hitch. But keep the poly, and the patina. That way, next time you have to go 2000 miles to pick up a car, you can bring the flat bed.

Good job Kiwi that plastic moulding for the heater box on the firewall looks brand-new I was also going to suggest with the missing pushbutton surround. If you took one off another car, you could have it scanned and get one 3-D printed.……..

With Cerium oxide and a bit of patience you should be able to polish the glass back to new. Awesome find man, i hope you keep it as original as possible. Shes too good to change.
I hope you and Steve get caught up on some hard earned sleep after your long trip back from San Diego! Hope you don't need a chiropractor after that bench seat torture run across the states! In my part of the world, a car like a 59 plymouth will always attract a crowd at every stop! I'm actually surprised that you didn't show an audience at all your stops!
My opinion: Preserve the original patina. Get all the systems operational and safe. Rebuild the original engine with a few power modifications. Will be a great advertisement, sitting in front of your shop.

My nephew doesn't like Buckys because they don't allow truck parking. only time I have been in Memphis was a stop at the buss depot on my one and only long bus trip Makes me want to drag my parents 68 Chrysler wagon out and drop a built BB Mopar back in it and go for a cross country trip again Keep the poly!!!

Reckon you're right about the rain-x - I've tried it on a pitted Mini windscreen and even at speed it really didn't help much. Then again, when it's that pitted, neither do wipers.
Well Kiwi (and crew) glad you made it safely home 😀. Just a suggestion, I realize it's too early to get into the restoration,but I'd do some 600 grit wet sanding on the sun-bleached fender tops, and maybe the roof/tailgate and do a color-primed paint treatment in the OEM colors to preserve the sheet metal from further corrosion, since it looks like the body is in generally decent shape, Just my .02 worth. It'll obviously take many months to do a more serious (if planned) paint job. Gotta hope you keep the original colors. You might want to talk with RUclipsr Coldwarmotors for any guidance. He's a remarkable body/paint guy who like old MoPars. BTW, there was an axle puller that was used on early MoPars (shop tool). He might also be able to offer guidance on finding a windshield. Congrats on a great rescue, and a uneventful return trip. However I'd definitely keep the Poly. The 392 is a great swap, just not in the '59.

How/why did the loud car exhaust background sound go away? Mufflers? Audio processing by the Dr.?

Reckon you're right about the rain-x - I've tried it on a pitted Mini windscreen and even at speed it really didn't help much. Then again, when it's that pitted, neither do wipers.
Well Kiwi (and crew) glad you made it safely home 😀. Just a suggestion, I realize it's too early to get into the restoration,but I'd do some 600 grit wet sanding on the sun-bleached fender tops, and maybe the roof/tailgate and do a color-primed paint treatment in the OEM colors to preserve the sheet metal from further corrosion, since it looks like the body is in generally decent shape, Just my .02 worth. It'll obviously take many months to do a more serious (if planned) paint job. Gotta hope you keep the original colors. You might want to talk with RUclipsr Coldwarmotors for any guidance. He's a remarkable body/paint guy who like old MoPars. BTW, there was an axle puller that was used on early MoPars (shop tool). He might also be able to offer guidance on finding a windshield.
