The fact people pay these prices for something that was cast in metal is amazing. Like i get the design behind it but its cast that doesnt take skill. Just a forge and a mold
I can in no way justify the exorbitantly high prices, but you are paying for a lot more than just a block of formed metal. Also the fact that its existed through time, artist names, cultures etc
The metal colored tulips are intriguing.
I look at most of these and my first thought is “A lot of people are spending $$$$$$ on stuff that looks like kindergarten art projects”. Compared to Michelangelo and Bernini, the majority of this stuff is yard sale junk.
Very Cool, I am a painter man with several favorites, I do not shy away from sculptures though because the craft is attractive. I can not say one is above the other because I would not turn down the opportunity to buy an Edgar Degas sculpted ballerina and I sure wouldn't shy away from a Camille Pissarro painting of Anything, I like art; from the collection the "back of a woman" was my fav. I of course would want the while set because they all said something different to me, very cool.

The Guennel Lioness is ancient. I would buy the Giacometti sculptures at Pier One because they are lovely and worth the store price.

I prefer realism in sculptures such as those from the 19th Century, these are not to my liking. I do, however, like the Amedeo Modigliani sculpture as it is rare, many of his sculptures were destroyed by the artist and few have surfaced.

So might find this offensive but most of the modern day scupltures don't look good or can even be described as beautiful.
It is a personal opinion but art prices are more about the artist and the significance of the art rather than the beauty or visual appeal of the art itself.
