Oh my goodness! This is fantastic! I am the Sustainability Coordinator for City and Borough of Sitka Alaska. I am the ONLY FT municipal sustainability professional in the state. Most of my job is...explaining my job. This will be a huge help. If you ever see the need/opportunity to highlight other communities working to be more sustainable, please reach out I'd love to find a way to collaborate

Thinking sustainably is hard to do since it's not how we currently do it. I hope to learn more about it during this series!

Having ADHD but also wanting to make the world better is a constant struggle. Especially with almost every decision most people make only further the world becoming worse. I don’t have the energy to cook, but fast food is unhealthy and I don’t support the companies. I want to buy things with my money, but taking the time to research companies is so much work and often just makes me just forget about it. I want to donate my money but i’m also scared of losing my money or a family member needing money, or donating to an organization that actually was pocketing most money. I want to plant a garden but i’m not sure if I have the time or motivation to. I also forget everything, got a reusable water bottle, lost it, bought jewelry, lost it. I feel completely useless and it feels impossible to be hopeful about anything anymore.

it's ok, you don't have to do everything and all at once! any improvement is better than nothing, and it adds up in the long run. it doesn't have to be perfect, either. pick just one thing, and focus only on it until it feels comfortable and relatively easy, as it becomes a familiar habit. for example, try cooking one meal a week. it can be something simple like putting some fish with olive oil and spices in the oven and making some rice with beans. consistently doing something productive for a while will make you feel better and more in control and capable. even if it's a small thing. with time, once you are sure you're comfortable with the first thing, you can add one more. and so on. it all adds up. there are many strategies for managing life with adhd, you might find some of them very useful. writing stuff down can help to make some sense of it all and make your priorities clearer so you can try to focus on what's most important for you. if you have this option, try working with a specialist who can guide you in the process of figuring out what works best for you currently. in any case, document as much as you can what you are trying to do and how it turns out so that you can analyze it, say every week or two, and see what doesn't work for you and what does. anything you do doesn't have to be perfect at all, just try something, see how it turns out, and improve over time))

Great course! Its so important that people understand that sustainable living is important, its not about making people feel guilty but about everyone doing their part towards a sustainable world

Very nice to see the us-american view on it as an european.
Just one little addition i recently learnt: do not underestimate positive storytelling. Instead of talking about possible collaps (it IS possible tho) rather mention the beauty of a glacier/forest, the yummyness of vegetables or how good your new job will be. Better thinking makes everything better. 👍

I love it whenever my home state gets mentioned. I am really proud of my state for focusing on its ecosystem. We’re still fighting with electricity companies for more substantial practices, especially when it comes to Maines trees. I’m really in love with Maines forest, especially this time when they’re changing colors

The dam example was amazing, most countries are going in the opposite direction.

6:42 some theaters will fill up your water bottle for you, that way you don't have to sneak it in. Never hurts to ask (former theater employee)

I'm sorry, popcorn at the movies costs 15 bucks? 😮 (I'm French 🤭)
Amazing topic, I can't wait to learn more. Also, I've only ever seen Myriam in P4A lives before (I'm more of a SciShow girlie, historically) and it's strange seeing her without Darcy and a slightly unreasonable amount of carrots 😂

The only problem with constantly thinking about sustainability and every aspect of your life is that it ends up ruining it. 😢
