Thank you for posting this! I grew up reading For Better or Worse in the comics in the daily newspaper in the 80 and 90’s. I remember when Michael and Lizzie were little and when April was born. Unlike other comics, the kids were allowed to grow up. Lizzie became a teacher and Michael became a father. It was my favourite comic because it was funny but real at the same time. Lynn Johnson, the writer, touched on some serious issues at the time. It was also Canadian, like me! (We Canadians are used to watching American shows on tv and reading American comics - nothing bad about that but it’s nice to see your own country sometimes). I remember watching this special years ago, before my own kids were born.
I really liked this show when i was young. What really makes me nostalgic though is those news commercials. I was an islander growing up, its so rare to find island channel broadcast compilations
Thank you soooo much for posting this video. It brought back many fond memories of when my first daughter was a baby. I even enjoyed watching the old commercials. Thank you.🥰
The mom in this is really aggravating. When you have young children, you can expect your fancy stuff is gonna get broken. If you don't want that to happen, you be the one to watch them, not leave them in the care of your older child.
8:23 (Elizabeth's mother, Elly came into the room. She picked the baby and hold her in her arms. Elizabeth looked at her mother.) Elly: (scolding her daughter) How could you, Elizabeth?! How could you let the baby help you decorate the tree?! (8:29) (gasps) (looks down to the glass angel, broken into pieces) Elly: My angel! My glass angel! Elizabeth: (tried to explain to her mother) She had it, Mom! She threw it and, tried to stop her and- (she stops and looks down) (Elly sadly picks a piece of the head of a glass angel and looked at it) Elly: 8:39 I've had this for years! It's my favorite! (sadly looked at her Elizabeth) How could you let this happen? Elizabeth: (lied) It was April! (blamed on her baby sister) Elly: 8:46 April is just a baby, Elizabeth. She shouldn't have been aloud in here. April: (coos at her big sister) Elly: Where's your common sense? (turned away from her daughter and walked out of the room with the baby in her arms) Really! I thought you were old enough to know better! You should have been watching her! Elizabeth:8:55 I WAS watching her! I just ..... WASN'T LOOKING! That's all!
7:39 (Elizabeth watches April.) (Elizabeth puts the last light on the tree.) 7:42 Elizabeth Patterson: (grunts) The last light. There! I did it! Now... (climbs down) should put the blue ones on first, or the red ones? 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ (picked up the ornaments) April: (giggles) 7:51 Elizabeth: (looks at her baby sister) Wait 'till you get to see Santa, April. (continued decorating the tree) He's old, but he's totally cool. Santa's got a red suit and white whiskers and... April: (babbling & tries to get the glass angel) Elizabeth: Look, April! I'm almost done! All I gotta do now is put the glass angel....... 8:04 April: (broke free for the coffee table 8:05 squealed and grabbed the box and sat on the floor to open it.) Elizabeth: 8:08 .....put it on the tree every year. 🎄🎄🎄 It's Mom's favorite! (8:10) Wait 'till you see the glass angel, April! (April opens the box, and it was a glass angel) Elizabeth: (shocked to see her baby sister shaking the angel up and down) 8:13 Aaah! No, baby! No! No! That's Mom's! Put it down, April! Put it...(8:17) (April throw it up in the air) Elizabeth: 8:20 (in horror) AUGH! (tried to stop her baby sister, but she fell to the floor and so was the tree, the curtain, and the glass angel who had broke into pieces.) April: (giggling, crawled over to the angel and looked at it) Elizabeth: (puts her head in her hands) (groans) Ohhhhhh!(8:22
4:56 Elly: It's certainly no holiday for me! (April has her mother's glass angel) Elly: (gasps to see the baby have it in the box) Ohhhhhhhhh! 4:59 Elly: (grabs the angel away from her baby daughter, April) For heaven's sake, Elizabeth! Can't you be more careful?!
@@RickyKendall-s7yit doesn’t matter, cartoons reflect real life, and therefore real emotions. I had the same reaction. Has nothing to do with being a grown up.
@RickyKendall-s7y ...but it ain't Looney Tunes. They're going for a level of realism. Parents can be assholes and lean too hard on the older kids to take care of the younger ones. It happens. Throw in some nostalgic broadcast, and you're gonna get all sorts of reactions and takeaways.
6:12 (Elizabeth set the box of Christmas things down.) 🎅☃🎄 Elizabeth: (wondering what to do) As long I have help, but who's gonna help me? Elly: (handed Baby April in Elizabeth's arms) Here. Take April for me, will you Elizabeth? Just find something for her to do.
6:18 (Elizabeth looked at her baby sister, who was sucking her thumb. April looked happily at her big sister.) (6:20) Elizabeth: Hey April! Wanna decorate the tree? (6:23) April: (cooing happily at her big sister)
Like Angels, God Loves You, and He Has a Plan for your life. That Cabin is like the home of a Good Samaritan. Let us never forget that. When we go prodigal, sometimes, there is a home that opens their door, it is a true home when we need to be home. There, it can take us home.
First time watching a cartoon - THERE's FAR TOO MANY ADS. Probably showing my age but A LONG TIME AGO when there wasn't all the fancy products & gadgets there is today - there was such a thing called PLAYPENS to put toddlers in. When my mum passed away - people reiminced about when everyone moved into the area how they all helped each other if an emergency came up - it helped in the short term. Today they'd probably be considered a safety hazard and child abuse. Grace's accent is terrible - is it supposed to be Irish? It's a nice to have something different in a cartoon / film for Christmas. Whether one is the oldest, youngest or in the middle - enjoy & appreciate your childhood - one goes up too quickly and there's no going back. Everyone has a guardian angel 😇 .
I remember this show as a kid the 90s was lit 🔥 specially around the holidays
God this is 30 years old already. 😢

This brings back so much nostalgia, especially with the Christmas commercials! Thank you! ❤
One of my favorite Christmas specials growing up; this special was also one of the reasons my parents got me a SNES & Mario Paint.
Mine too 🙈 but I didn’t get Mario paint. My super Nes game was X-men Mutant Apocalypse “ It’s cool how the commercials were left in

We have that same rotating carousel from one of those ads! Lost the thing that makes it rotate but still have the carousel!
Awesome! I love this!!!!

For example a China cabinet .

I didn't even know this comic strip was made into an animated show!
I don't think I remember watching this special back then as well as catching it on the Disney channel!

As a middle sibling, this FBoFW special kinda got to me a bit. 🥲
