- This little festive adaptation from The Wind In The Willows is years old and very rare it has been lovingly preserved on very very old media . I upload it here purely to preserve it as its not available any more. No Christmas would be complete for me without it's message anything is possible if you just pull together and believe!
Please remember that this is nearly 30 years old and from Video cassette tape HD wasn't even thought of! Given this the video will never look right on a large screen so the small screen is the way forward, then the quality will improve greatly.

A nice cozy little film. I always enjoyed watching Rat and Mole in that quaint little cottage. So peaceful.
I love this, I usually watch it every year at Christmas time. The Wind in the Willows is one of the best stories of all time.
December 2022 and I am watching this. Brings back so many memories of long time ago. This book has always stayed with me after reading it as a young child. Piper at the Gates of Dawn I think was so beautiful.

I watch this every Christmas even though I'm 38😄It has such a cosy, old-fashioned atmosphere and reminds me of Christmas times of my childhood
I remember seeing a cartoon about miniature Nativity characters coming to life struggling to move a shopping trolley around a supermarket buying baby supplies for Jesus 😆
That head weasel sounds like Gollum!!!!!.......... my eldest daughter (who is now 26!) used to love this sooo much she would watch this everyday!!!!
The ASMR they used in this cartoon was astounding. Looking back at this as an adult, I can really notice all of the added in sound effects that they decided to include. It really helps make you feel cozy and relaxed while watching - so lovely :)
This makes me want to live underground for the winter.

One of my favorite movies during the holidays
I’ve loved The Wind In the Willows for many decades now. Grew up with these stories in their different film, book, and audio recording versions, all of which have been enjoyable. It never seems to get old, but brings a fantasy world to life vividly each time.
wholesome 80s Christmas...faces full of glee.. tinsel and open fire and decorations...just magic...but these cartoons encapsulated all that in one little sweet cartoon..with comforting voices like Richard briar, and David Jason, Michael Palin.. safe in the house by the fire and infront of the TV.. with Mam cooking away, delicious treats not a care in this workd
Watched this on VHS with my children more than 20 years ago. Delighted to find it here and reminisce.
At 41 I still love anything to do with Wind in the Willows. I read the books as a kid and watched the tv series and films. I used to wish I lived in the riverbank. Also I love the voice of Imelda Staunton. For the younger ones of you she was Delores Umbridge in Harry Potter order of the Phoenix and also in deathly hallows.

Thanks everyone. I still do have the original Video Cassette and it may well play a few more times but the VCR machines are so old now and can't be easily serviced and they chew tapes up! I couldn't let that happen to this its too precious and it truly has disappeared from everywhere. So please come right in the door is open and enjoy this delightful tale. Merry Christmas everyone xxx
I have had this video for nearly 20 years and now our VCR player has got problems. Have you thought of transferring it to DVD format - think of all the customers you would have for it - myself included! Thank you for uploading it onto RUclips otherwise I would not be able to watch it anymore and it is so very precious to me and now also to my two grandsons. Sadly, it has never been released on DVD, don't know why. A shame, it is one of my favourites. I was a teenager when it came out (at an age when you'd expect to stop liking these kind of things) but I have loved it every since. I don't know how you can transfer VHS or TV tapes to DVD. We taped this off the telly and had to throw it away when the analogue switch-over occurred. Thankfully, quite a few nice people on RUclips uploaded it. The internet can be a great thing.

+Billy Hawkins if you have a good laptop you can download movies to a DVD
I've had used that and I've got this now on a DVD to enjoy for future generations. It's great to be able to do it so easily. Thanks again.
I don't remember ever seeing this. What a delightful little Christmas special this was. I especially loved the mouse children with their off key singing. So realistic, perfectly done. It's really a shame they don't show the old shows like this anymore.

Moles Christmas and other Christmas cartoons were awesome and back in the day and I'm being serious here, some of the television networks used to jam pack them back throughout the 1980s. Fun times, great memories and great entertainment. Now barely lucky to see a few today, that's for sure. I miss the 80s and I miss being a young kid back then, wish we can go back but we can't. I wish that the cable company and other Network would give us our holidays back the way it used to be.

I remember reading the books when i was younger. Trying to get my nephews to read but competing with videos games it's a lot harder. I miss the older cartoons
lucky for me my girls who were 11 and 7 last year like watching Christmas programs with me! Garfield, Twas the Night Before Christmas, Claymation Christmas with the CA Rasins ( that i can't find on line sadly) Charlie Brown, Frosty, Rudolph, Life/ Adventures of Santa Claus, SC is Coming to Town, and of course Elf, Home Alone...
They have been uploading quite a few of the old cartoons lately . Doesn't make be feel like an antique to enjoy them again .

Thank you for preserving this dear old cartoon movie. It appears to be English made. I am 66 yrs old and I don't think I have ever seen it before. I am a Doctor Who fan though and I recognize Peter Davison as the voice of the Mole. Peter Davison was the 5th Doctor after Tom Baker. After watching it I could feel a nice warm Christmassy feeling. I'm glad I watched it.

We used to have this on VCR after we recorded it one Christmas. Seems so long ago now.

Indeed! It hasn't been seen or shown for many years. Its my honest guess that the original recording has been misplaced. No other reasonable reason. They must have had it to produce a Video Cassette which is where this came from , its very fragile now but I still play it every year and will for as long as the tape lasts and the video recorder lasts lol
This is my most favourite of all animations but I am saddened that I can not get this on DVD..now I have no VHS player to play it at home :( been looking for years and still nothing
Oh Dear its a beast isn't it? I took this from VCR because the tape itself is almost on its last legs I have had it 20 years ! I still have a working VCR but I thought I would save this delightful and warm tale ahead of time. One day maybe it will turn up on DVD until then this will have keep us happy :0)

When I was a kid I loved the wind in the willows. I had a book with stickers my dad I would place in the right places every night going to bed.He loved the book as much as I did and this Christmas special as well. I'll have to let him know this is on you tube.

I remember this aired on CBC on TV in Canada at the late 90's to early 2000's. Plus I was introduced to the strange name British people calling Santa Claus "Father Christmas".
It's not really strange mate. Nearly all countries have a different name for their Xmas gift giver. The concept of 'Father Christmas' is a very old one although it's now almost synonymous with Santa.
Father Christmas is the really, really ancient name for a mystical fellow who represents the coming of the new year with gifts.
Here in Argentina we call the old jolly chap "Papá Noel".
