For all of the 4c women & teens on RUclips that come across this video, please don’t get discouraged by your beautiful hair type. Understand to love the before, and look at the after NOT as an improvement but just a different style. ❤️

I have hair with a texture that curls and coils tightly when wet giving it the appearance of a shorter length. People with Afro-textured hair calls this shrinkage.

hairbyshaundatv Hi, Shaunda! This is my 1st time watching ur channel. I, too, came to the comments bc I JUST KNEW ur words hit a sore spot w/ the majority of ur viewers. I think the reason ppl found ur statement offensive is bc of (1) the context in which u used the term “Wakanda hair” wasn’t favorable nor complementary...ppl prefer to b praised rather than mocked or criticized and (2) u comparing & contrasting her hair type to “Waikiki hair” gives ur audience the impression that something is wrong w/ their hair type if it happens to b similar to ur client’s hair type. The fact is that u didn’t say anything in ur vid to confirm or imply ur belief that “Wakanda hair” is “strong, black, beautiful.” It’s what u said and how u said it that offended ur viewers. On another note, I hope that the responders who verbally attacked understand that their use of hurtful words is counterproductive. I wish they wldve taken the time to explain y they were offended enuf to comment in the 1st place. P.S. The transformation was very pretty!

See what I mean? A lot of US don’t even REALIZE how affected we are by society’s (and a lot of our OWN insecurities) design to encourage OUR self-hate!

This made me so happy. My hair is EXTREMELY challenging just like hers except mine is a little longer. I just wear protective styles cause it is so much work. However, this makes me wanna try again. You did an outstanding job btw!
