    Ohio isn't known for it's inland lakes, but it's rivers do hold plenty of smallmouth! Nice job on the video. Tight lines from Rick

    The dead deer outtake made me flash back to the same thing happening to me this summer. Dead decaying deer right next to the boat ramp. Smelled horrible. Great video as always man!

      A few years ago a dead pig washed up right next to a spot where I loved to take my kids fishing and swimming. We had to find a new favorite place. One day we checked and the pig was gone. Probably washed away when the water level rose, because I have no idea who you call for dead-pig removal.

    The tusc is one of my favorites for fishing smallies in Ohio. 5-7" swimbaits will get you some better quality fish. (I run the 751 bridge - Coshocton stretch.)

    I was surprised to see this river just south of Akron, basically still in Akron. Its basically as large as a big ditch that flooded and im curious if there's any decent fish despite that. From the northeast of the state and catching walleye and smallmouth in the rivers and spillways are my favorite things to do, and though i usually use artificials with walleye, smallmouth i use crayfish and leaches be it with just a split shot or two, walking sinker, under a float, drop shot or hook only. I love only needing a few things that fit in my pocket while wading. Plus its cheaper to lose a shot or two and a hook than expensive hard baits and walleye plastics. Also, all my biggest river smallmouth have come from high water, even when its chocolate milk colored and blown out. May only manage a bite or two, but it's ALWAYS a big one. Just sucks because it's so slow often you're not expecting it and when you finally get a bite you figure its a snag and end up losing it before you can get a good hookset on the thing and half the time you cant see it but will create a massive boil if it gets off

      No it is not known for largemouth bass fishing... Of course, the only notable body of water we have is Lake Erie -smallmouth. (im a bass angler)

    Not known for it's fish? I get we share it with other states and Canada, but Erie is without a doubt the best smallmouth lake behind Dale Hollow,.and the same can be said for its walleye and perch. Plus you have the Sandusky and Maumee rivers walleye runs, and despite not having the numbers of salmon to where you can target or catch them regularly people travel far and wide to fish some of our tributaries from late November til april for the steelhead. Ive fished Elk in PA and had some of my best days ever but most of the spots have been burnes out with parking lots next to them, and on average i have caught bigger fish in Ohio than elk and over PA spots.

    Awesome! A couple of questions for you, about fishing the Tusc; I have a 14' johnboat with both an electric motor and a small outboard. I am usually by myself. Are there access points to launch the johnboat, fish, and then motor back upstream to the starting point? And number 2, I am hoping to get a kayak this spring. Same situation; is it feasible to kayak back upstream to the launch point after fishing? Thanks!

    • @SumOneSomewhere
      @SumOneSomewhere 4 года назад

      Well for starters the record largemouth is 13lbs and it was caught in a farm pond in the 70s lol. It will probably never be beat. Our lakes are mostly manmade and the are full of silt and are always dirty. Unless you have a 21 ft boat or bigger you’re not getting on Lake Erie unless you fish the harbors and inlets. River fishing is always fun though.
