Another great video mate and a fantastic tip, I never even knew that you could use that stuff like that and definitely learnt alot myself that's for sure 👍, the difference is amazing. Definitely a must for new Reefer's to check out that's for sure 👍
Thanks mate, really appreciate it! It works really well, definitely worth doing to any plugs or rocks you can remove easily
Another great video, thanks Ross 👏🏻
Thanks mate
Great tip mate. I know I’ll be needing this one day 🙂
Thanks mate, it works really well to be honest!
Nice video again Ross. I did this to a frag of my zoas last week. Worked a treat. I use 35% H202 in my job. Ouch, that is not nice on your skin!! Your Green Tip Torch has grown by the look of it.
Thank you very much mate! It works really well doesn't it! Ouch I dont fancy that much haha! Yeah it has grown quite a bit to be honest mate
Brilliant video Ross 👌👍
From beginner level to guide videos well done mate people like you make this hobby and community what it is 👏👏
Thank you 👍
Thank you very much mate thats really nice of you! I just want to help others out as much as I can!
@@BeardedReef And you are 100% 👌
@@Jaymartin3136 thanks mate! 👍
Great video, will be trying this myself 👍
Gr8 video ross !
Thank you Julie! 🤗
Well done! Sometimes I will take bigger rock out and use a spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide diluted. Spray, scrub, rinse with saltwater. Great vid!
Thank you, thats a good idea! I like it!
Wow, that stuff works surprisingly well. To be honest looking at the bottle I wouldn't have used it. 😂 Enjoyed the update. 👍
Haha yeah it did look nasty but done my research and it worked really well mate, thank you!
Cracking how to mate, something I'll be adding to my schedule for dipping, cheers 😎
It works really well mate, let me know how you get on
@@BeardedReef the RO drum held sideways is gonna be hard to beat though, genius 🤣
Haha that was one I was shown as a boy and never forgot it!
Great results!
Thank you, it worked really well!
Top tips mate! I've been using H2O2 for years to get any unwanted pests/algae off zoa frags. It's not failed me yet
Thanks mate, it works really well doesn't it! My zoas are much happier now!
Is this a better way to dip new frags too?
@@rudra7615 I have used it to dip new frags, it's a very aggressive dip though. If diluted as much as Ross did then yes it's a very good way to eradicate almost all pests on new frags
Yeah I completely agree with you mate
@@BeardedReef Will this work for Hammers?
Going to try your method I'll post results after a few days
Could you use 90% isopropyl alcohol or does it have to be 3% awesome vid!!
Nice new subscriber
Thank you
Great video. I have also, like many others it seems, had problems with Mail Order Corals. The photos on the website are so doctored it's a joke. The M.O.C made up names are the worst cases. For an example check out the M.O.C Mardi Gras Zoas. Amazing photo. The ones I received were brown. I gave them another chance recently but had a similar problem. When I complained the guy told me 'we are more than happy that you will be shopping elsewhere in the future'.
Thank you, Yeah you are 100% right mate, more and more people.saying the same thing now too! It's a shame really!
Grea tip, never knew this
Btw, are you still dosing vibrant or stopped?
Thank you, it works really well, no I have stopped with the vibrant
I've tried pure hydrogen peroxide 12% does a great job on zoas but mushrooms didn't like it also dipped my hammers up to the flesh didn't dare to go any further. Have used also dettol on all my corals as a pest dip 5ml to 10litres I don't have any sps tho
I dodnt try it neat, I just diluted mines and seemed to have worked really well, I will be using it again
Thanks for the vid, what would you do if it was on a rock thats too big to remove?
Thanks mate, I believe you can inject it on to the rock but I wouldn't advise that and I don't know the ins and outs of how to go about doing that, sorry I can't be of more help 🙁
@@BeardedReef I don't even have a tank yet, just curious 😂
Haha in that case, make your rocks small enough to remove 🤣🤣
I just saw another video that demonstrated using the peroxide by itself without the need for using water. Just dip the coral for less than 2 min in the peroxide 3% than rinse with saltwater, 24 hrs later the coral looked awesome with no algae.
Thanks for the comment mate, ive heard a few people say that their coral died after using it like that so I stick to doing it in the water and it works perfectly, a safer way to do it
@@BeardedReef Perhaps your method is wiser then.
I dont know if its wiser or better mate but for me it's a safer way to do it, I dont have the guts to try the other way haha,
I have a large flat Rock that's at the top of my rock structure. It has a pom pom Coral, a Kenya tree coral, and my anemone.... It also being at the top of my rock structure has a lot of algae on it including green hair.
Will my anemone be okay with this method?
I dont honestly know, my gut feeling is that it wouldn't be safe for the anemone so I wouldnt recommend it, you could remove the rock and scrub as much of the GHA off with a toothbrush but I wouldn't try the hydrogen peroxide on the rock if you have an anemone on it
Can you do this with other coral like bubble coral, candy cane, or Goni ? Those are the ones I have an issue with now
No I don't think so, ive only ever done it with zoas but I wouldn't risk it with others
Hydrogen peroxide also deactivates bleach if you want to deep clean your filter socks with bleach water. If you mix them straight it will just get really foamy and release oxygen
Brilliant vid
Thank you
Never had a problem with Mail Order Corals and have been using them for years, just my own personal experience.
Thats good then mate, glad you haven't had any issues!
@@BeardedReef You must have dipped the Zia and if so you would have noticed the algae, if not it may be a problem with your parameters and not the frag and maybe not, not knocking the vid as it was quite good but it is an open ended question, I have nothing to do with MOC but after thirty years of reefkeeping I have found that there are many causes to a problem. I think it is a bit unfair to berate them on air when you are not sure it was the cause, please don’t think that I am having a go as I am not but you make a statement with no proof.
I'm not getting into an argument on here, I have no issues with any other coral, frags or areas in the tank other than the one from MOC, I have had several issues with them that I have mentioned before and have had countless messages from people saying the same thing, corals look nothing like the photos (the website photos are extremely edited), wrong corals sent out, corals with hair algae, corals with aptasia, and so many people have complained about the customer service to me after I've mentioned them, I wasn't bashing anyone I was giving my opinion based on my experience and said I wouldn't use them again, I will be getting my coral elsewhere as I've not been impressed, I have plenty of proof of the issues I and others have had and I could do a full video on that but not interested in doing so, I simply won't use them again, I will move on to another supplier and no hard feelings towards MOC
@@BeardedReef I have no wish to get into any argument Ross, sorry you have had bad experiences with them just saying that half my tank is full of their stock and never had a problem 👍.
Thats good mate I'm glad it worked out well for you and you have had no issues
Is it safe to do this with hammer corals?
No it would not be safe
Hair algae on a frag is actually not a bad thing, it means that the frag is well rested. Your clean up crew should clean that up easily, tangs in larger tanks will clean that up too.
Clean up crew wouldn't touch it mate and it was killing the zoas so I had to go down this route
Just about everyone's corals don't look the same the photo shop the pictures to make them more colorful.
Yeah you are right, a lot of places completely over edit theor photos, some places don't tho,
Dude you can use hydrogen peroxide as mouthwash 😂 I don’t think you need glasses/ gloves
Its more for safety from the zoas, as they can release palytoxin if irritated enough.
