The past few years we have been particularly happy with their Reef Primer coral dip. While there is no perfect dip for all pests and all situations, Reef Primer checks a lot of the boxes and is very gentle on the corals so it is less likely that we accidentally kill a coral.

Which is YOUR favorite coral dip?
Goid on you for being so clear about the fact this is a sponsored review, and exactly what input the sponsor had. Or lack of input in this case.
Great product. Active ingredient is KCL Powder been using it for a while now 👍
I’m sure my comment will be delete for stating the active ingredient.
I’m one of those that needed this video!!! Thanks!
Thank you for your review on this product ❤
Great content. Really nice camera stuff, and thank you for sharing your anecdotal experience.
First found out about this stuff from Inappropriate Reefer!! Glad to see it’s highly recommended by Tidal Gardens
seeing those flatworms at 5:00 gave me ptsd flashbacks. Please quarantine your stuff folks - I lost a battle to those jerks (trying very hard not to curse haha)
Wow! That was a really good video! Thank you for putting this together. I really appreciated the second half. When I first started, I had no clue what any of those pests looked like. This would have been huge my first 2-3 years of reefing!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent videography and very informative
Well put together my friend 👏💯🔥✌️
Had a bottle of dip, but haven't ttird it yet. Think it would help a closed toadstool with algae growing on it. Been trying to force a shed for a few days now with no luck. Also, that red eye pectinia is gorgeous.
Love it
Thank, what a great video! Where do you get the plastic containers/trays you are using?
Great informative video. Just wondering if it has a shelf life? every time I need to use my revive its expired and gotta buy a new bottle
I am curious to see the results between that solution and the red sea dipX
Just used this the other night, didnt TOUCH the white acro bugs at all!!
My man
what kind of planaria were those on the hammer coral? are they harmful or just unwanted hitchhiker?
I have a problem with bacterial infections in my LPS corals, can this product cure sick corals due to bacterial infections? Thank You
When I dip, you dip, we dip.
What kind of tubs did you guys get to do this?
I keep screwing up my large scale dipping attempts because I’m using a bucket and struggling to keep it to temp etc
Have killed some stuff this way
We use rubbermaid polycarbonate food containers for the restaurant industry. If we are doing big dipping sessions we change out the water often and run small heaters and powerheads.
Do you think you could give me your opinion on using hydrogen peroxide for green hair algae control? How much is too much, is it considered effective and safe to use?
Hydrogen peroxide is very effective at killing algae but it is very aggressive on corals. I would only use it with corals I know can tolerate it like Zoas.
Any more context/references on the concern about the Bayer product? Seems like a ton of people have been using this in the past and this had been recommended to me recently and have used it since (will not anymore). Thanks for pointing this out.
Would love to get some feedback since there were some pretty firm statements made on this Bayer product.
The primary active ingredient is imidacloprid. It’s an effective and widely used systemic, neonicotinoid pesticide for control of ants, termites, fleas, roaches and various other insects. It’s one of, if not the most, widely used insecticide in agriculture. It’s considered “safer” for humans than other classes of insecticides but certainly isn’t safe. As the neonicotinoid name suggests, it essentially mimics nicotine and it kills by disrupting the nervous system in insects. It’s a legit, pro-level insecticide being sold over the counter in a less concentrated mix. If you hire an exterminator or pest control service, there’s a good chance they’re using this insecticide in some form. It’s been banned by the EU due to its potential link to the decline of bees and other pollinators, as have other neonicotinoids and pyrethroids. I had no idea it was used as a dip. I use it for lawn and perimeter outdoor pest control under the Dominion 2L brand. I don’t use it indoors but some do. I don’t consider it safe around pets or children. You can find it and the full label and safety sheet on the Do My Own Pest Control website or similar sites and make your own decisions based on the literature on that class of insecticide. But seeing as it’s highly toxic to invertebrates and fish, why would anyone want to risk exposing their aquarium to that? It’s also slow to degrade in water and these products have water runoff warnings. The 2nd active ingredient is beta-cyfluthrin, a pyrethroid insecticide. Permethrin is a an example of that class and is used in some insect repellants and mosquito foggers. They’re generally considered safe for humans but also toxic to fish and invertebrates.
Iirc it’s a member of a family of neurotoxins called neonicotinoids. This one in particular has links to various cancers in humans, neurological damage, tremors, memory loss. It has strong links to congenital brain and heart defects in infants. It’s main risk in agriculture is that it doesn’t break down over time in the environment in which it is used. So farm workers, groundskeepers can face increased risks of various cancers. I personally would not expose myself to it, let alone my children or even my pets. If you do choose to use it I’d recommend using it outside, with full PPE- goggles/ respirator/gloves. Disposable bowls from the dollar store etc. there is a strong consensus that there are risks using the product. The exact risks are not well known. Since it doesn’t break down easily, it’s likely to take years or decades for the damage to become visible.
Did you guys add reefbrite strips on some of the systems?
The newer strips are Orphek strips, but in the past we've also used Reef Brite.
Thanks for response
Than, I have a Ultra Maxi-Mini that fail to stick to anything. It seems the foot has loss the ability to stick and it keep floating around the sand bed while the one next to it stick just fine. Do you recommend any solution or dipping? The anemone looks healthy and is eating just fine. Just won't stick to anything.
sounds like it may have an infection? A dip in iodine solution may help
Thanks Than@@tidalgardens
Without a doubt the best out there. Ive used it for years without any issues. 🏴❤👍
i don’t even own any clams but yet i’m aware that clams shouldn’t be dipped. they’re big time filter feeders. so any element or chemical it may be exposed to can be the reason for its death
Great video but could have gone without seeing the flat worms on the hammer. Gave me the willies.
They are gone now that's for sure.
Would this be safe for a anemone
We generally do not dip anemones.
oh no :(
i was defo planning on snorting it :/
As an avid gardener I was so shocked to learn people recommend using bayer to dip corals! That stuff is so SO toxic! And then you do what with it afterwards - pour it down the drain!?! Terrible. Used solution should be bottled up and taken to the specialized Household hazardous waste disposal. Huge hassle.
If I never see it again I will be happy. That stuff is gross.
Sure do give what's you say alot of weight ! Thanks 😊
No it's not Julian sprung revive is 😂😂😂😂
Julian is a personal friend of min, and we like Revive a lot, but this is more gentle.
