They look a whole lot better after the dip. Great video

Great video, I love this format :)
I'm new to saltwater but came straight from freshwater, so I'm used to nuke tanks and dipping plants into H2O2.

Thanks for watching, H2O2 is great for mushrooms and zoas! 👍
Just be careful, I also tried it on clove polyps and it didn't end well sadly! 🙄

I would highly recommend not doing this i have killed corals by just using a tiny bit of peroxide and water with a toothbrush around the corals frag plugs and the corals died

I've found it to be safe with mushrooms and Zoas/Palys, but you do need to be careful what corals you dip in H202 I tried it with some struggling clove polyps which I had a spare frag of luckily and it killed them.
But this has been great especially for all my Zoas when going through the ugly stage just I dipped 30+ Zoas a few days ago and had no problem, thank you for watching!

in the past it nearly killed my clove polyps too but i left it in and eventually they came back, going to try this dip with my zoas though@@PracticalReefer

Just dipped my coral in 3% for 2:45 but bryopsis is still hugging the coral. Didn't work!

Oh really, sometimes it takes a few days to die off, did it hang on?
Maybe a 2nd dip would do it, bryopsis is probably the worst of them too, hope you manage to beat it 🤞

@@PracticalReefer Yeah like you said it takes a couple of days but it did clear up. Only the Acan looks a little sad now. Problem is I have bryopsis in the tank getting a little too hairy. I may have try something called Reeflux. 🤔🤞

Is it normal for the zoas to slime up when doing this?

    • @PracticalReefer
      @PracticalReefer  2 года назад

They will close up and protect themself haven't seen mine slime up as such, did it recently and a few zoas blistered up which had me worried but a few days later they were all good 👍 hope yours are all ok! 🤞

I had it on a few, maybe over done it a little on those ones or they just had a stronger reaction as most out of 30 frags didn't have it at all, they are all fine now though, hopefully yours are the same might just take a couple of days 🤞

@@PracticalReefer thanks for this info. I bought some corals today and the plugs had some algae on them and I don't want algae in my tank. The Zoas don't look very happy right now and I was worried that I over did it. Hopefully my corals will recover like your mushrooms did.

I've seen a few different ways, but the one I seen most on forum posts and some other videos was using the 3% I bought (there is 9% available too) and used it undiluted for 2 minutes, I have done it probably a dozen tiimes with my Zoas when I still had some algae before the tank matured and it worked great everytime for me, thanks for watching!

@@patterdalezipsuzilil nice mate, never tried it on acans guessing 40ml of the 3% stuff I have per litre would work the same 🤞 probably start at 10ml and work up if I even needed to do Acans, it was just more mushrooms and Zoas for me being my first corals during the ugly stage, things seem to have matured now 🤞
