It is very refreshing seeing cool cars being thought out, fabricated & built WITHOUT all the associated temper tantrums and other nonsense, as David Lowell mentioned. As car guys/girls & all gearheads will agree we want to see & appreciate the thought process and execution of these rolliing works of art that are built to be driven!! Thank You Troy Ladd & the crew of Hollywood Hot Rods
I’ve built a few cars over the years and I think y’all are terrific, What I have learned is to eliminate the knee crawling, shin skinnin , knee banging part of the build. I raised my chassis up to waist level so I could work off a sit creeper or just reach across to what I need without my back taking the stress. Tall jack stands did the job. All other is fantastic, you do a hello job.
Glad to see a new build, bad ass as usual. Kinda missed that pretty smile tho. That's the thing about car guys, being stuck at home isn't that bad. Both my sons are into hot rods also. We have a 53-54 3100- a 55 Apache and a 69 C-10. Sitting in the garage to work on, so we have plenty to keep us busy during this pandemic. You guys stay safe and keep up the awesome build's. HOT ROD DIRTIES 💯 👍
Troy comes across as a real cool classy dude. Awesome quality builds. The Pontiac engine is definitely the winner. In my opinion, the light Pontiac blue would've matched better in the blue car. Let's lose that belly button SBC and drop a high revving Cleveland in between those frame rails!
I used to live at 113 e palm and this place where hollywood motors is at if I remember correctly was the old heating and air conditioning place!! I used to ride my bike and skate board by there every day!! This was back in the 80s
I'll keep it to the guidelines f****** awesome great job you're a magician! True hot rod builder noodles love you bro keep building of you all take care have a great day Fitzy Boston Massachusetts
I absolutely love Hot Rods but I think the definition has become kind of appropriated by people who see a history of inventive kids just trying to go fast. If you think about it the first Shelby Cobra, the FIA with the 289 motor, was a hot rod. That car donor, the AC Ace was first sold around 1958-59. It doesn't have to be a 1930's car. I believe if you built it, made parts to make thing fit, change the look with cut parts and welding, etc, you've got yourself a hot rod. Just make sure it goes fast.
Beautiful cars........Then you run them on the salt flats . Salt dust will fill every nook and cranny on those cars ! What the hell...It makes an interesting video for the viewers , and more work for you ! Hang in there I see you're thinking ahead .......got'a keep that shop full of new projects !
i like how davida was saying what the cars where totally wrong hahahahah funny stuff. how ive learned i always ask and listen not assume the guys that build and own the cars usually know em insided and out
At 6 mins, the disc brake set up,makes it look like drum brakes. The actual drum cover, does that spin like a brake drum?or did he bolt that on and it doesnt spin? Prolly be cool looking spinning as opposed to a brake drum just bolted.still though a very cool look.
I was wondering who they used for the graphic work on the car gages. I have a 39 Packard that could use that to. Also would anyone know of a place that could work on a dash clock for said Packard?
While I certainly appreciate a show that shows hot rod building without bullshit reality tv show drama, are there any hot rod build shows that focus on craftsmanship?
Like kids building models, buy parts, assemble parts, paint, deliver to customer. Off the shelf hot rods would be more appropriate. My sister can build those.
How long .. and how much it. would cost to built sth like that .. but more 'plebeian' .. so kit-parts and lets say with 5.0 Coyote or small-block Chevy .. ? ..
Bodies were around 10K from Brookville, chassis 2.5K, front end 2K, rear end (based on 9” Ford) 1,5 K, grille shell and s/steel insert 800 $. Wheels, tires, motor, transmission, prop shaft - depends on whether you go used or new, gas tank 250 $, windshield I paid 1200 $ for a bare finish Duval around twenty years ago, chopped ‘32 in bare steel I guess would be around 350 $, glass can’t remember. That’s before you look at an interior, gauges, paint, wiring harness, exhaust. It’s definitely not a cheap Hotrod to build but if you do the labour yourself you’re going to have about 35K invested. You could go down the fibreglass route or look around for an unfinished project. I have about 100 K in mine. Good luck if you decide to go for a ‘32, they’re a lot of fun. Geof (U.K.).
Wondering what engine people are using today .. small-block is obvious .. if it's ford '32 .. could be nice to use Ford engine .. that 4.6 L modular V8 .. sounds good .. literally .. -) ..
Safety is first for a hot rod don't be a square Make the windshield a Robar ( I know you'll have to raise up the windshield but it'll look just as cool that way)just in case it flips or rolls over nice car nice work just don't make it a death trap an not put a robar on it somewhere thanks be be safe don't be sorry
Nice cars, but why are all the car shows on youtube using such similar formats now. We don't get much of an idea of what it is really like to put something like this together apart from what we are told. ?
well anybody who has basic car knowledge and can buy everything premade and just assemble can build a car. i know a person that has a super nice 32 coupe and when asked did he build it ? he says yes! WRONG! he bought the body and took ot to a garage and after about two years THEY bought all the parts and assembled and finished building it. well good for him huh! yes i built my own 31 sedan in four years and built everything except brake components , engine , tranny, rear end , radiator. aint braggin to each his own .
Jess Morgan cars back then were made to bend on the roads instead of independent suspension which came out later. Boxing means giving the chassis more strength by putting a box inside
What, no drama. One of the best shows. Thank you.
this was a well done show, i miss it, no drama just straight craftsmanship being displayed, passing the torch to next generation, amen
soupercooper that's why it didn't make it no drama and well thought. Out !

Thats why i watch ian roussell on velocity. Well motor trend now. He is like that. About the build
DITTO ! I have lots of respect for Troy.

Great film. Fantastic cars...Wish we were there!
Glad to see a new build, bad ass as usual. Kinda missed that pretty smile tho.

His dad gave him a 56 Mustang?? Wow, that`s pretty amazing, since the first Mustang was 64 and a 1/2.
Love it amazing work

It's so refreshing to listen and watch without every other word being a CUSS word.
Always watch this Hotrod show, is one of the best!👍👏
am from jamaica and i love it!
Beautiful cars and what a pleasure to see a show without the « Hollywood » drama or throwing tools around and calling names! 👍👍👍

Brilliant I could watch this all day larry in London
I used to live at 113 e palm and this place where hollywood motors is at if I remember correctly was the old heating and air conditioning place!! I used to ride my bike and skate board by there every day!! This was back in the 80s
Rides was such a good car show , no drama or practical jokes BS.
He needed divine intervention to come up with “Hollywood Hot Rods”? Lol.
Miss this show...

Oh man I love the 50's wagons, would love to see more about the one at @19:55 ish. Anyone know where I might find some info on it...
I'll keep it to the guidelines f****** awesome great job you're a magician! True hot rod builder noodles love you bro keep building of you all take care have a great day Fitzy Boston Massachusetts
Nice to see the Brookville and not fiberglass.

“Running a hot rod shop isn’t as glamorous as you’d think.” 😏
He says to a TV cameraman and production team. 🤔
They do the intake pipes reverse to avoid (birds, bugs, rocks, mud, etc) from being thrown into manifold
I can remember back in 1958 that running with no fenders was good for an instant ticket, something in the law must have changed.
The Zulu machine is really beautiful !
Good show!
Noodles is the name for that guy. His hair even looks like ramen noodles. And he eats them everyday? He’s definitely named noodles.
i like how davida was saying what the cars where totally wrong hahahahah funny stuff. how ive learned i always ask and listen not assume the guys that build and own the cars usually know em insided and out
Is there anything better than '32 Ford roadster. I love this car.
No there is not.
I often wondered why I haven't seen any 2 door Pinto Hatch-back hot rods on a rake with maybe a tricked out 289 .or even a new ford V6 .
These guys pound the tradition drum over and over then they pull out automatics and fake drum brakes - so much for tradition.
I dig the disc brake covers, you get the safety of discs but the traditional appearance of drums.
+Scott Blubaugh That's like saying, " It's better than suede, it's ULTRAsuede."
+Ricopolico More like saying, "It looks really cool but actually stops and is safe to drive."
At 6 mins, the disc brake set up,makes it look like drum brakes. The actual drum cover, does that spin like a brake drum?or did he bolt that on and it doesnt spin? Prolly be cool looking spinning as opposed to a brake drum just bolted.still though a very cool look.
It must rotate since it was installed over the wheel studs.
Well they show no drama hell yeah
this is cool stuff
Love it. 🤘🏼
Can't figure out these guys. They don't box the frame rails in the name of tradition, then they install a slushbox.
Gotta love it!
The kid slinging the lead was on an episode of Monster Garage lol!
Troy is a God
Mike Parti, he was the Vincent motorcycle man?

At 11:57, that dash profile looks like it could be a 1940's floor console...
complimenti

Cant really go wrong with a Highboy
why lead dash you had ample room and metal to just pick it up then file with a metal file, finish all metal no lead faster
Surprised they don't need to box the chassis.
Like kids building models, buy parts, assemble parts, paint, deliver to customer. Off the shelf hot rods would be more appropriate. My sister can build those.
LOL.... FROM the WATER COOLED VW too being the " TORCH CARRIER NOW "..... I don't think so RICH BOY.

I'd of had a deuce coupe and a roadster built 2 roadsters is redundant.
Choppin' custom rods!! That sucks!
Loved Roni and the Zulu Machine. All class act all around, nice not to see a bunch of tated "dudes".
Dont open the doors when the engine is running!!!
So..... they build kit cars. ☹️
And they say the Pinto had a badly positioned fueltank.....
Using a grinder on a chassis, Nooo .try using a sander, takes longer but better finish. UK 🇬🇧
Condratulacione molto bene Hot Rod Yakob Salta Argentina Ford Roadster V8
Love them sisters , only thing is pete santinie paint jobs covered in salt mmmmm i don't know about that

I don't know anything about hot rods...no boxed frame?
Jess Morgan boxing is adding metal to the missing side to strengthen the frame
Those 2 frames were boxed. Most standard cars and trucks don't have a boxed frame. Some might be around the engines but thats usually it.
Jess Morgan cars back then were made to bend on the roads instead of independent suspension which came out later. Boxing means giving the chassis more strength by putting a box inside
#JimWeicherding HotRods check them out!!!
Come on guys I’ve run the salt and you don’t run it like that.
