I met Jimmy and saw this car in the metal, beautiful hot rod and proper traditional, the Arden flathead makes it a cut above, he was real polite and a true craftsman, old school. Streetrods are glorified kit cars, they have their place but real hot rods back in the day looked nothing really like either of these cars to be honest, it was all about speed, a paint job was secondary.
I really hate to say this, because Barry's shop really does turn out works of art, but I would MUCH rather have an all steel roadster as opposed to a fiberglass car that feels cheap and flimsy. I understand the reasoning behind starting with a fiberglass body for timing purposes, but I would just much rather purchase an entire all steel body.

People love Corvettes but complain about fiberglass if it's on any other car. I don't get it. Fiberglass is great. It's better if you ask me. It doesn't dent or rust. There are different ways to do fiberglass and some ways do produce a heavy, brittle part. Like chopper gun glass, but you can do some really nice glass work doing wet layups or vacuum bagged glass. Really strong and light weight. Prepreg glass in an autoclave can be really nice. Vacuum infusion or resin injection produces really nice parts.
@@javiervidaurre6325 Having built and restored several cars over the last 30 years, I'd prefer fiberglass or carbon fiber. It lasts longer than steel and it doesn't dent like steel or aluminum. The biggest problem with restoring old cars is the rust.

James you are right, if there is no dedication to the job, get the hell out now!
Barry is a grown man. Jimmy is a large child. A decent craftsman but a child.
Steel car against a fiberglass car. I'll take steel every time.
JUST THREE WEEKS TO SHOWTIME! ARE THEY GOING TO MAKE IT??? Yeah, they will, of course.
Top job love to have your skills both of you and your fabricaters
Oh no ! that bad ass Rod that Jimmy built is going 2 be in the hands of that old fart.....It belongs in the hands of a kool cat like me.
