  • Hi there, I'm Jenn!
Introducing myself and sharing a bit more about the purpose of this channel.
As a first-generation Filipino American, I was raised with the belief that stability, wealth, and security should always come first. However, as I've evolved and grown, I've come to realize that there's more to life than these traditional markers of success.
In this video, I open up about a pivotal decision I've made - choosing to take a sabbatical in pursuit of discovering my passions. It's a choice that challenges the very perspectives I was raised with, and it's a path less traveled, but one I'm excited (and so very terrified) to explore. I'm planning to create a series called "Reprogramming My Life," where I'll document my experiences, struggles, and triumphs as I navigate through the uncertainty.
I've deliberately chosen to record this video without a script because I just wanted to take the plunge and get started with RUclips. I also want to be raw and authentic with you all. It's a way for me to confront my own anxiety and perfectionism, and I hope it resonates with some of you who might be facing similar challenges.
Thanks so much for joining me on this journey!
Feel free to join my Discord community if you ever want to chat or share your story! / discord

Hi Jenn! I stumbled upon your video and want to say thank you so much for sharing!! I know that feeling of being scared to share yourself online, it's very courageous of you. I can also relate on trying to figure out where you're headed next (I've been working in healthcare for the last 10 years & now feel I am being led into something quite different). Change is scary but can be a good thing especially when you can be completely honest with yourself and realize the current path you are on is not in alignment with who you really are at this time. I also think you don't have to apologize or feel guilty for feeling this way. It is good you are learning to give yourself grace. We are constantly growing and evolving, and sometimes this new version of ourselves may require us to take big leaps of faith and let go of others/even our own expectations. Sometimes when we allow ourselves to grow and embrace the new season we're in, other people will also be uncomfortable because they have attached themselves to the old version of us. Anyway, I just want to encourage you to keep going even if the path is not totally clear yet, little by little what is meant for you will reveal itself. I will be praying for you, good luck on your journey! (:

Hi Bella! Thank you so much for writing this all out 🥹 It really means the world. And it feels good to know I’m not alone in wanting to switch paths. I’m trying my best to be kind to myself during this transition so I really appreciate the encouragement. I hope your journey has been going well for you - thank you so much for reaching out! ♥️

I just turned 32 last week, and I haven't really worked to say I have any sort of security. My faith is my only security blanket, and ironically I'm speaking as someone who's none religious and none spiritual. But so far every invisible ground I've stepped on has turned into solid plank/ground (whatever resonates with your imagination)... So I'm grateful to whatever has my back.

I’m 39 and in a similar season of life where I need a new beginning with my career. I was in the mortgage industry for 20 years before being laid off. After 9 months of unemployment and losing both my parents, I found a job in commercial lending. After the death of my parents, it really hit me that I need to live my dreams because life is too short. During my unemployment, we used most of our nest egg. My husband doesn’t work as we opted to have one of us home to help with our special needs daughter. I found your page looking for inspiring women to learn from as I navigate one of the scarier transitions I’ve faced. If I could, I would quit and just try something new, but I need that money. I’ll be following your journey as a reminder to myself that I’m not alone - and neither are you. ❤

Hi Jenn from another Jenn! I also work in tech as a product designer, entered my 30s this year, and started my RUclips channel late last year. I resonate a lot with your video 🥺 and following that itch, that curiosity to document life and figuring out what the next stage of life looks like. It’s brave and terrifying doing it all (and publicly) so thank you for sharing your journey. Looking forward to seeing your growth ❤

Hi Jenn! I am the same age as you! For some time, I have been feeling the same, like I haven't reached what I thought I would by my 30s. So, I sometimes feel like a failure. But I am trying something new and hoping it will lead me to something different. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am glad that I am not alone in my 30s when I am trying to find my dream and my fulfillment and start it over. I wish you the best in this journey.

I can completely relate. as someone who is trying to figure out things on her own with the continuous fear of failure, i can tell you are very brave and courageous to do this. Finding something you would love ❤

Hi Ranjana! Thanks for your kind words and sharing your experience. I too am afraid of failing which is why I’ve played it safe my whole life and took the traditional path. I’m proud of both of us for putting ourselves out there!
I read this quote today and it resonated with me - I hope you get something from it too!
“Failure is not the enemy of success, inertia, fear and apathy are. If you failed, it means you believed in yourself enough to try.” ♥️

Hey Jenn, I'm glad I came across your video. I resonated a lot from what you were saying, and am grateful that you're being raw and authentic. I had the same thoughts of trying something new but haven't made the jump due to security. I feel like there's so much in the world to discover, but because I haven't found the opportunity to look around due to job hours, it's hard to come across it.😊

Hi Alex! Thanks for sharing your story. It’s great that you’re self aware and able to be honest with yourself about your situation. That’s the first step to change! To be honest, I think I lied to myself for a long time and convinced myself I was happy because my previous roles afforded me the lifestyle I wanted. But looking back, I was apathetic, and that’s no way to live either. I still don’t know what I want to do, but I hope the reflections and exercises I share down the line will be helpful. Maybe sometimes we just need space to think. Wishing you all the best! 🤍

I'm exactly at the same phase as you, only much older at 44... with 2 kids :). I'm still having second thoughts if I should document my experience as well because I've already started my channel with some other content already... So, I don't know. Hi Rosanie! It’s nice to hear from a fellow Filipina 😊 Great channel BTW! I think ‘starting over’ is acceptable at any age and you should definitely document your experiences to help those who are in the same boat as you! I can imagine that having children who depend on you may make it a little more challenging to switch things up but your kids will admire your courage and your family will be stronger because of it ♥️

Filipino-born and now based in Austin, TX. Did a sabbatical for 22 months from 2020 to 2022 and it was the best months of my life! I got to hike 32 national parks with my senior Dad (lost my mom from cancer when I was 10 so this was a dream), publish a book, heal from forgotten trauma, and rediscover my mission to cure cancer, which is my new career path. Yay to you for taking the intentional path forward!!

Hello my fellow Filipina! What an amazing story 🥹 I’m very sorry about the loss of your Mom, but so happy you were able to create incredible memories with your Dad! Thank you for sharing. These are the stories I love to hear - intentional path is the right word. You gave yourself the time and space to heal and be with your loved ones, and uncovered your passions along the way. I can only hope the same for myself! What’s your book called?

    • @sensitivelifestyle
      @sensitivelifestyle 7 месяцев назад

Yes, take your time. The path is winding and unpredictable and that’s the beauty of this season. Discover what support looks like for you.. you maybe surprised what it ends up being. Clarify who you are- identities often get entangled with what we do. In times when you feel unsettled, know that’s normal. Stay open and curious. And my book is called Queen Speak Out: How to rediscover your voice and become your own champion in life and at work.

I got in contractor works and had a decent stretch of 5 years now mid 30s, things just gets hard and its begging on a new path. I wholy relate and if we may be get that sabbatical and explore our objectives. It would lead us somewhere. Most importsnt is to be in an environement that welcomes it

Hi, it's completely random that I comment here, but maybe you actually read it. if you have time off and feel that life is perhaps more then figuring out ways to save on your taxes then I'd recommend in no particular order: therapy (ego state, inner parts integration, somatic experiencing (find a very good therapist)), the gateway experience & core shamanism. I could also well imagine that if you follow this path then you will not necessarily want to publicly document that, whichi think would be just fine. All the best!
