Paula Abdul’s choreography was always shining through. Some of that was dancing was very similar to Paula’s Cold Hearted Snake video. Hard working dancers, All.
This entire album was just a celebration of her sexuality, which had been watered down by her father and her reputation as the younger sister of the Jackson 5. She was also happily married at this time, and it shows. It’s one of the best albums of the 90s, and this song is a great representation.
I was 15 when this came out and let me tell you this was one of the biggest albums that year..this song was EVERYWHERE!! This is the Era where she looked absolutely delicious!
Hahaha, ditto! My friend and I did a dance routine to ‘This Time’, and a younger group of girls did one to ‘Throb’! Absolutely oblivious at the time😂😂😂
Keep it coming with the Janet Jackson reactions . You should just do a Janet Jackson week. It’s only fair. You are missing out on a lot. The woman is amazing! That dance break is one of the most legendary dance breaks in music video history. Janet Jackson was a force to be reckoned with in her prime.
Please do "Pleasure Principle" next. It's just her, showing off some superb dancing. She was an Icon in her own right, influencing so much from fashion to choreography.
I would say she gets plenty of credit for being a talented dancer, she's been cited as an inspiration time and time again. Singing on the other hand, not quite as much.
This was her 'comeback' song where she went from her covered up, good-girl style to a much barer, toned-abs look and more sexual lyrics. Janet Jackson was pretty much the reigning queen of my childhood musical scene, and I clearly remember her two looks: this was definitely the inception of Janet 2.0.
Janet actually premiered the toned-abs and more sexualised image in the video for 'Love Will Never Do (Without You) in October 1990, two and a half years before the release of 'If'. The late Herb Ritts, who directed that video, wanted to showcase Janet as "fresh, sensual, womanly and vulnerable" (his words, not mine) and was responsible for the pared back cleavage baring black top and pair of jeans look that Janet showcased in the video. This more sensual look was also very much evident in the video for 'That's The Way Love Goes', the actual "comeback" single that preceded this one in 1993.
I'm a woman and had the same reaction the first time I saw this video and heard this song, like daammmnnnn girl, you go!! I'm sure many women wanted to be as sexy and strong as she was in this video! My vote for the next song you listen to by her is "Nasty"! 😃
I wanted to be Janet (in my mind) since Pleasures Principle in high school! True story, a guy in college once told me I looked like Janet Jackson, I don't know if it was a line or not, but it worked for him! Lol 🤫 He got laid! 🤭 This was during the Velvet Rope time. She was on fire and so was I! Lol She give us permission to be as sexy as we wanted to be. TCL, said go for it, don't be shy, but be safe! I had so much fun!
These lyrics are so sexually explicit but most of them go over your head on the first listen due to the nature of her low and fast rap like verses. "You on the rise as you're touching my thighs, let me know what you like, if you like I'll go down and hold you in my hand oh baby. Your'e smooth and shiny feels so good against my lips sugar..." I mean, oh my gawd, she's straight up singing about Bjs and no one seemed to bat an eyelid lol
God bless the 90's! It also helps that she became a real beauty as she got older, whether naturally or assisted. This is my favorite of her videos, and made an unforgettable impression on me in my youth. Once she reached this point her hits seemed effortless, coming one after another. And after growing up under her father as she had, you could only pull for her to realize continued success.
And she always had the nerve to not sing the word “lips” when she performed this song live as if that was the most explicit word out of the whole verse 😂. I mean it’s Janet, Miss Jackson if ya nasty. The same woman who was grabbing dudes’ crotches during “Would You Mind” on the All For You tour. She don’t give a damn.
I DAMN SURE FEEL YA, for I'm not gay either & I feel the same as u, about Janet; her & Toni Braxton, but more so Toni. Did you know that Toni Braxton said the same thing about Janet, as u just did. Janet done got even staight women crussin' on 'er! Hahaha...
Janet was showing her sensual side as she continued to develop her artistry! I adore Janet. Check out “I Get So Lonely” “Together Again” & “I Want You.” I hope you get to check out the earlier songs like “When I Think Of You” probably my favorite of all!! ❤️
Yeah this is one of Janet's best. I remember going for that choker look back then. It was a cool time. This is her best video/look, imo. My favorite song of hers was "Pleasure Principle". That was earlier tho.
Jay, this is a killer line up of ALL HUGE hits. Amazing songs & videos! Please check these out.... 🙏❤🎵 🔥"The Pleasure Principle" 🔥"That's The Way Love Goes" 🔥"Nasty" 🔥"Miss You Much" "Anytime, Anyplace" (super sexy) "Escapade" "When I Think Of You" "Come Back To Me"
I'm super happy that finally reacted to this video. Check her "dance only" version of this song. It's the same video but they only show here dance performance. You will enjoy the choreography better. One of my favorite videos all time.
Janet was never more beautiful than she was in this video. This is my fav JJ video. There is nothing better than a great beat and hot choreography. I miss the 90’s.
I can totally understand why you needed water. I remember when this song came out and she went on tour, and opened with this song. I was lucky and had tickets on the 2nd row, right in the middle, and when the lights came on, she was kneeled down at the edge of the stage, like 6 feet away from me, like a frozen statue, and taking in the audience going wild cheering her on. She was staring straight in front of her for at least a minute...which is where I was standing and I could have sworn our eyes caught each other and I felt my heart beating in my throat! Fortunately I didn't get a heart attack, LOL!
As a dancer, Janet is so legendary. All Nite (Don't Stop) is still one of the best dances and songs ever for me, and that video was sexy AF, def recommend if anyone hasn't seen it. It's iconic.
Janet made it easy for us deejays to keep the dance floor packed back in the 90s! Now here is two more to check out, "All for You" the visuals and the dance moves are on point! Also "Deep" for a more funky side of Janet the video is also a different look from her normal high production videos! You also need to check out the If 12 extended mega mix it's a whole different vibe that got lots of radio play back in the day. Love how you younger guys are reacting to songs from back in the day! As someone who deejayed back at that time your reaction is just like when people first heard it in a booming club system the dance floor would be overpacked! Keep up the great reactions!💯
Oh the nostalgia of being 19 again sitting in my little apartment with my friends watching this on MTV! I can't believe it's already been almost 30 years 😢😁
I did wardrobe for her principal dancer during her "all for you tour" please review "-because of love"!!!! Love that song and video during her high days.
Getting parched are we...lol... you have to listen to Janet from Control to now... it's a wonderful progression... Leaving the 'rents to strength and power to owning her femininity and womanhood...I just love her. You should really react to Scream featuring Janet and Michael...I love them together. 💜
Aaaaah damn, almost forgot about another REEEEEALLY SEDUCTIVE song/video; "Any time, Any Place". Official video is perfect. Very tastefully done... 👍👍👍
That whole 1993 album was the bomb 💣 Janet Jackson album right after she did the Poetic Justice movie with Tupac also a bomb 💣 soundtrack with TLC Salt N Papa Ll Cool J etc...
I was about 15 when this song/album came out. That dance was spicy back in the day and still is. I wasn’t allowed to buy the album because according to my parents, it was “too risqué”. That didn’t stop me from going to my friend’s house and listening to it though!
Check out Nasty , Young Love, Control, Miss You Much, Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun), The Pleasure Principle, When I Think Of You By Janet Jackson
Janet👏🏾Janet👏🏾Janet! One of my favorite artists of all time. Jay, if you had to stop to take a sip of water in the middle of the video, dude you’ll pass out if you watch “Would You Mind”live Hawaii.
I remember this video like it was aired yesterday and my brothers were like “damn!”. And I was like “got damn I’m not into women but if I were hell yes!” She was sexy, seductive and just hot as hell. She still is as beautiful as ever. And this song is just so empowering for women, in my opinion. Your reaction was priceless and your need for a drink of water said it all. I’m sure if she saw your smile Jay she would come your way! Just saying! “If” right??
Janet was at her sexiest and most beautiful in the "Love Will Never Do Without You" video. Also, "Feedback" was a great song and video where Janet looked amazing - this video often gets overlooked.
Great reaction. Janet was on top of the world in the summer of 1993. You should watch one of her best live performances of If and Thats the Way Love Goes at the 1993 VMAs. You will enjoy it!
Love Janet, I saw her perform this live way back on the Janet tour. I remember watching the videos way back on mtv with these glimpses into these places around the world, which inspired me to travel to see all these amazing places.
Love Janet, her music videos are off the chart. Check out "That's the way love goes" - "Again" - "Let's wait awhile" - "Alright" - "Go deep" 😍 I'm not gay either but she's gorgeous and very talented. Also check out her concert called "Number Ones Tour Singapore 2011" cheeky Janet has some fun with her male dancers - up to around timeline 20:00 I think - she's singing "Nasty". Even my jaw dropped lol 😁
As always bro, dope review. Love u discovering her artistry. You and many your age are now re-discovering her, since Viacom and other powers that be, locked her away in Blacklisted Jail. Lol but not. Truly it’s a beautiful thing that she’s re-gaining the credit that was blocked. This woman’s unique creative talents are really other-worldly.
They were speaking Cantonese - the guy asked to be let in, but he didn't have the password. The woman came to the door and said "if" the password.... I LOVED this song!
JAY!!!!JAY!!!! Look up the lyrics!!!! The lyrics to “If” will blow your mind!!! Here’s a little taste of the lyrics: “You on the rise as you're touchin' my thighs And let me know what you like, if you like I'll go Down, down, down, down, da, down, down I'll hold you in my hand and maybe [Pre-Chorus] Your smooth and shiny feels so good Against my lips, sugar...”
Janet has always been a stand alone Jackson. Nobody should ever compare her to the rest of her family. She made it on her own talent.
I agree. Both Michael and Janet are truly music icons in their own rights that deserve to be in the history books as both individuals.
Janet isn’t even good enough to test a mike. Paula Abdul taught her some dance moves.. great. She can’t sing her way out of a subway station.
Exactly
Paula Abdul’s choreography was always shining through.
Some of that was dancing was very similar to Paula’s Cold Hearted Snake video.
Hard working dancers, All.
Yeah, the ultimate triple threat.
If you want "seductive", "That's The Way Love Goes" and "Anytime, Anyplace" are the songs for you.
"Love will never do with you" and "Let's wait awhile" too - wow
He already did love will never do but yes anytime anyplace and that’s the way love goes are awesome to do next
Yes lawd
Anytime, anyplace for sure!!!
I always thought Anytime Anyplace was her most seductive song.
"That's the way love goes" should definitely be the next Janet to react to, Jay.
3 months later and he released it today, so I came back to watch this one too.
That album is stellar “Janet”.
This entire album was just a celebration of her sexuality, which had been watered down by her father and her reputation as the younger sister of the Jackson 5. She was also happily married at this time, and it shows. It’s one of the best albums of the 90s, and this song is a great representation.
I'll say it again......That's the Way Love Goes!!!!
Scream. Duet with Michael 👍
SO GOOD
LOVE that duet! JV should def check that one out!
Sounds like it...
One of my favorites.
I was 15 when this came out and let me tell you this was one of the biggest albums that year..this song was EVERYWHERE!! This is the Era where she looked absolutely delicious!
She was $$ with this video and album 🔥
I had a huge "hand bra" poster on my wall in college! She nailed the "nude" look andwas FABULOUS all around!
12 year old me when this song came out not knowing what the song was about but preforming it for talent show.
Hahaha, ditto! My friend and I did a dance routine to ‘This Time’, and a younger group of girls did one to ‘Throb’! Absolutely oblivious at the time😂😂😂
@@goldencherry9033 THROB?!?!?!?!!!! OMGS
How did folks react?
hahahaha
🤣🤣🤣
Keep it coming with the Janet Jackson reactions . You should just do a Janet Jackson week. It’s only fair. You are missing out on a lot. The woman is amazing!
That dance break is one of the most legendary dance breaks in music video history. Janet Jackson was a force to be reckoned with in her prime.
In her prime....Janet stays ripe 🤎🤎✌🏾✌🏾
Yes!!
Life was so good when she was consistenly releasing songs in the 90's and early 00's
I was thinking the SAME thing! That break is legendary. Everyone alive when it came out still probably knows those notes by heart 🎵🎵
And the dance moves!
PLEASURE PRINCIPLE.
MISS U MUCH.
U WANT THIS.
BLACK CAT
......MORE JANET SONGS
So many good songs!!!
For me it would be:
Where are you now
Again
Let's Wait Awhile
I am all about the slow songs
nasty, all for you , runaway (and not credited to Janet,, but Diamonds).
I'd go with
I Get So Lonely
Again
That's The Way Love Goes
I get lonely , I still get chills wit this one🤎🤎✌🏾✌🏾
One of my favorites from her.
Samesies
Please do "Pleasure Principle" next.
It's just her, showing off some superb dancing. She was an Icon in her own right, influencing so much from fashion to choreography.
That's always been my favorite song from her.
my favorite video ever!!! I never get tired of it - the dancing was so good so 80s and I love it
My favorite Janet song! She owned that song!
Never underestimate Janet...she doesn’t get enough credit for being a talented dancer and singer. She deserves more recognition and respect.
I would say she gets plenty of credit for being a talented dancer, she's been cited as an inspiration time and time again. Singing on the other hand, not quite as much.
She had a record breaking 4 album 80$ million dollar contract, bigger than Madonna and Micheals, so she definitely commands respect.
She gets more than plenty of credit for both and always will

@@SPOPictures The girls too! LoL

If you loved 'If' & clearly you did, lol, then You'll also love 'That's The Way Love Goes'...
I always loved the choreography in this video.
I remember feeling so cool when I got all of the moves down with the elbows LOL
The "Pleasure Principle!" Is a great one. Classic.
Janet! Every guy loves her and everyone in the world wants to dance like her🔥!! Plus she really seems sweet and pretty authentic. 👑💖

If JV was in love with Janet before, I bet by now he's obsessed! (And really, who can blame him?) ;)
One of the hottest bridges and dance breaks in any music video! 🔥 Anyone else try to learn this choreography while watching the video on MTV? ❤️🤣
I felt so cool when I got the elbow moves down 😆

“Scream” - Janet & MJ 🔥

Don't think he heard the chorus either.
I remember the original video - they showed way more dancing and stuff than in this revised vid.
Janet and Madonna owned the 80's and 90's- remarkable legends who's stamp are all over pop music today. Seen both in concert and they both killed it!
This is one of my favorite songs of hers. I loved when she had edgier rock songs like Black Cat and this one.
J you should watch ALL Janet Jackson videos and tell us your favorite! SO many good songs!
"You want this" is another great song from Janet. Her whole album titled Janet was perfection.

You have to react to "Again" by Janet Jackson. #1 hit in 1993. 🙂
This whole album is fire but this was definitely my favorite video. Everybody was in love with JJ 🥰
JAY!!!!JAY!!!! Look up the lyrics!!!!
The lyrics to “If” will blow your mind!!!
Here’s a little taste of the lyrics:
“You on the rise as you're touchin' my thighs
And let me know what you like, if you like I'll go Down, down, down, down, da, down, down
I'll hold you in my hand and maybe
[Pre-Chorus]
Your smooth and shiny feels so good
Against my lips, sugar...”
Whoa, I love this song and didn't know all the lyrics 😂😂😂
The choreography is by the legendary Tina Landon who essentially did all of Janet's iconic routines.
This song is a demolition machine. Janet at her best.
She was definitely the 🔥 trifecta: Singer, dancer & Gorgeous!!
This song does something to people of a certain age!
Anyone else officially off down the Janet Jackson YT rabbit hole now? 🙋
