- Let's go through my closet! In this video I will be trying on all my clothes and telling you about each piece as well as how I like them. I am also talking about how I manage my wardrobe in general and how I dress modestly. As an Orthodox Jew, I often refer to modest clothing as tznuit (also called tznuis).

I think my favorites are the Dainty Jewels in the green print, the black maxi with the shark top, I actually really like the dress with the sleeves you feel unsure about- You look majestic in it!

Right?!? April Cornell is great about having pockets on their dresses. I discovered that shop about a year ago and I’m hooked!
@@jaroffireflies I always wear dresses and skirts, just because I prefer them but I have hardly any with pockets! Maybe the UK are just anti pocket haha!

As a Christian I was about to say the same thing as a Christian we are taught many Jewish traditions as well and customs ( hope I spelled it right) I'm also.looking into muslim wear clothing as I am attracted to its modesty but fashionable look.

I love that you changed your scarf for each outfit, that must have taken so much time and was appreciated. I loved the floral midi dress (the one for running thru meadows, lol) and the black slouchy one about a third of the way thru,I think you said you wear at home a lot. Also the first floral sabbat dress was gorgeous too. New viewer from Scotland, not Jewish so apologies if I have got terminology or spellings incorrect.

After 42 years in Plano, we moved to Garland this past summer, and I took the opportunity to MASSIVELY purge my wardrobe down to about 1/5th of what it had been for decades. My poor husband took 2 carloads of clothes to donation boxes and some lucky people ended up with dozens of lovely things that still had tags on them! I have to admit, it's nice to have one side of a small closet with my clothes hanging up instead of a complete walk-in closet packed with things I never wear. What a freeing feeling! Chana, you have a fantastic wardrobe! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Chana, I LOVE all your outfits, tops and skirts. The caftan is absolutely GORGEOUS! I've always admired that black dress you wear for Shabbat/evenings. I'm a big fan of both modesty and comfort. It has to be absolutely wonderful to be authentic, in that what you you wear truly reflects who you are as a person in life. I have no idea how I landed on your channel but I have been enjoying it, and you, so much. My knowledge of Orthodox Jewish people came from movies and shows. While I know that nothing is ever "one-size-fits-all", your life is so different from what I would have ever imagined. You're such an open-minded and assertive woman with a respectful husband who shares with you the chores and the child-rearing responsibilities. I love to see that we have so much in common even while we lead such different lives (the joy of reading, cooking, fashion, nice bookshelves, crafts, art, Harry Potter (are you a Ravenclaw?), dresses with pockets, baking...). Thank you for your candidness, your vulnerability, and your patience in breaking down stereotypes. Rock on, babe!

It is so liberating. When I retired and moved I gave clothes away and only kept those that I regularly wear. Liberated! Your face while your modelling show such a lot of joy. :-)

I love linen and I am slowly changing my wardrobe to more natural fabrics and slow fashion pieces

I love The Vermont Country Store. Their jumpers (dresses) are my "go to" paired with a simple long sleeve T. Those jumpers and their beautiful cable knit cotton cardigan with wood buttons is my winter uniform.
Oh I will have to look at that sweater! I love a good sweater to wear over things :)
10:40 that dress is so beautiful!! As a teenager I would wear tiny shorts in the middle of winter, because I found pants really uncomfortable. Discovering long, flowy skirts paired with warm tights underneath was an absolute game changer, and nowadays no one could pry my midi/maxi skirts out of my cold, dead hands lol!! You have such a classy style, and I loved that black dress paired with the red headscarf, too!

That plaid shirt is sooo comfortable too! I couldn't find the exact one at Cabellas anymore, but they did have what looked like the same one but with different colors. Just search there website for shirts and narrow it down to the Natural Reflections Brand
love how you own your own style! back in the day i used to shop at an april cornell store in person and it was such a feast for the eyes to walk in there with all their florals. i've been hesitant about buying from pyne&smith just because i'd like to see them in person first. i saw joy forney on yt talk about them a bunch too.

This video was literally so helpful as someone who's dipping her toes into modest fashion (Not at all tzinus standards but still way more modest than what I used to wear!) and someone who visits Texas once a year!!! It's one of the things I'm most worried about because it's SO hot and humid down there 🥵
Gonna check out your video about head covering ASAP because I'm in love with all the styles I saw here! I've been wearing 20x20 bandanas to cover my head and at the moment it does cover most of my hair because it's Very short but what you're wearing will probably suit me better if it gets longer.

We love our matching outfits 💜
I like long sleeved (and long bodied) tee shirts, tanks and turtlenecks in dark solid colors or plain neutrals from LLBean, Coldwater Creek and a few other brands like Old Navy and Gap that have basics. I live in the mountains of central PA so I’m happy to wear soft, cheap leggings under dresses in the winter and I gravitate toward swing dresses made of poly spandex knits and eschew woven fabrics or even prints. I wear these with ballet flats, RL loafers, Clark’s, clogs, Vionics or combat boots. I’m more likely to wear the combat boots with a feminine dress and ballet flats or loafers with more unisex attire. I’m always happy to throw on a classic Levi’s denim jacket, vest or cotton fisherman’s knit sweater over anything.
PS, I’m going to turn 60 soon. It is even hard to think about. I’m happy to be this age- beats the alternative- but I don’t match the mental picture.

I love EShakti, and I think that almost all of their dresses can be made more (or less) modest by changing necklines and sleeve and skirt lengths.
I have a friend who only shops at eshakti and she swears by them. I haven’t ordered anything yet but maybe one day :) I get a little overwhelmed by the selection 😊

I buy all of my clothes second hand. I’ve just decided for myself I like not contributing to landfills with clothing. I know I am someone that will only wear something a few times so I also resell/donate regularly. I rarely buy anything new or from a “normal” store. Anyway! I see a lot of modest clothing at the thrift store as well as on Poshmark. I see Lularoe at Goodwill regularly. I disagree with Lularoe’s business practices but that’s a place you can find it a lot. I love all of your Shabbat dresses.

I love the mother/daughter dresses. I used to work at the Laura Ashley store (it was in Dallas somewhere) but isn't there anymore as far as I know. That brand is huge on mother/daughter dresses. I was staying with friends up there for the summer and left that job, but that store was so wonderful.

I love long dresses and long skirts. They are both comfortable and very feminine. One thinks jeans are the most comfortable outfits but as a woman I feel a lot more comfortable in long skirts and dresses. Plus when you wear a dress it is so easy ;) you put it on and that’s it 👍😎

I also do closet purges at least yearly because my size fluctuates ( as I get older my weight shifts!) I do like your style, I think it's simple but classic. If memory serves correctly, the store Eddie Bauer had very similar styles as Cabellas, years ago I purchased a number of tops and maxi skirts from there. Your caftan is stunning!
Oh yes Eddie Bauer is a great place to shop! I used to have a lot more from there, but found the Natural Reflections brand just fits my body type better.

I am a light weight sweater/cardigan gal also. I live in Arlington just a smidge away from you and we do need layers in Texas. Mom would send us to school in a little cotton dress and a northern would blow in cold ride home on the bus. But now I keep sweaters, coats and blankets in my car and sweaters at work. You never know.
Finally a video on modest clothing! I prefer to be covered up, nothing too tight especially around my middle and top. My motto is show off wrists, ankles, and a little neckline, and no more 😆 I like the silhouette and feel most comfortable being covered.

I love seeing what modest clothing other people wear. I think women that don’t dress modestly sometimes don’t realise that you can still have your own style while being covered up, we don’t have to look like we’re “wearing a bedsheet” as some people would say 😂

It’s so interesting to see a different style being featured. There is such a dominance of clothes that suits younger women and bodies that it leaves a significant gap in ideas for those who don’t prefer those other looks. I rarely wear dresses (I’ve never liked them on me, even as a young girl) but they look lovely on you. Thanks for sharing your closet!
