Love your wedding story. So special! You looked so beautiful. Love what your mother in law did to the dress. Amazing work. Thank you for sharing your story.
You’ve become a very intimate part of my morning. Just you and me and several thousand of your RUclips family. My husband passed away 11 years ago past August, so sharing your family with me means a lot especially when I’m feeling alone. Please know you’re so much more than entertainment, you’re a joyful bundle of goodness.

I love you and your family! I am a 77 year old grandma from Oklahoma, USA. I most usually watch you on my TV. You have a beautiful smile and such pretty eyes! No wonder your husband fell for you! And he is also sooo handsome! 😊 May God continue to bless your lovely family!
This perhaps the third or fourth time I have watched this because you shared your day so beautifully. Thank you, Chana. Beautiful bride/Handsome groom. Delightful traditions.
Your MIL did a fabulous job on your dress, it is absolutely beautiful as were you and your husband.....you still are.......loved hearing the different traditions for your wedding. Sounds wonderfully exhausting! All in a good way. Thank you for sharing. Cheers from Canada....
You looked so beautiful. Your husbands’ happiness shows in his eyes. I was awestuck by seeing what your mother-in-law made from the 10 yr old used halter topped wedding gown. She is a very talented Renaissance Woman - your gown is the most beautiful modest style gown i have ever seen. There are several religions that prefer modest gowns and they could use yours as a gorgeous design. I also noticed your mil’s dress ( at least i think that was her feeding you wine) that aqua gown was also stunning. When my family (10 siblings) have had weddings its very similar in everyone contributing-“ many hands make light work” (and delicious food) So glad you shared such a joyous occasion with us.
It is a very Christian wedding gown. It was Queen Victoria who set the fashion for white wedding dresses. Seems incongruous at a Jewish Orthodox wedding.
This was so lovely! My partner is Ashkenazi and I am converting through the Conservative movement, but am half-Syrian so when we do get married I want to incorporate some Sephardi and Mizrahi traditions into our ceremony and reception. I loved seeing the kaftan your MIL sewed!
What a lovely bride! And I can't help but notice ten years after your wedding day, you are still glowing with love, it's all over your face and in your happy eyes! So very nice to see!
Chana, this video made me so emotional. It was the happiness on your faces and the sense of community which reminded me of home. I’m from India but live elsewhere now. Back in the old days, weddings used to be like this where the entire community would come together to help celebrate the occasion. Also, it is so interesting to see similarities in different traditions. Such as the henna ceremony, it is such an Indian thing as many Hindu communities (not all) do that as well. The tradition of the bride circling 7 times that you mentioned sounds so much like how Hindus do 7 circles (both bride and groom) around the fire to pledge their allegiance to each other. And not to mention your MIL sewing skills, I could not tell that the dress you wore was a halter neck!! Thank you for this beautiful video Chana and I hope you keep smiling and spreading joy always. 🙃☺️
I have always loved wedding dresses with long sleeves! And yes to small weddings, marriages and funerals are huge events here in Ireland with hundreds of people typically attending but I find them overwhelming as an introvert.
My three year old son watched this video with me, and when he saw the first picture of you with your veil he said, "She's an ice princess!" Then he saw a picture of you and your husband and said, "Oh.... they are getting married. Are they getting married?" So cute!! Absolutely beautiful photos. It is so fun to look back on a wedding day. ❤ My husband and I are celebrating 16 years this November. I will have to pull out my wedding photos. 😊
So I'm going to watch back about you being a convert. It does explain a blue eyed Sephardi, but here is my first surprise on your channel. :) I started following near the birth of your 4th child. Oh my goodness, your dress is lovely, your flowers are beautiful. I cry at weddings. When you started your pictures so did my tears. Your wedding was beautiful. Lol the outtakes.
Chana, I am crying real tears! First, because your husband reminded me of mine when I met him..same coloring, etc. I miss him so much. But, on to the happy stuff..what a BEAUTIFUL wedding, and, what a gorgeous couple you were (still are)! I share so much in common with you; I'm also an introvert who doesn't care for big parties or lots of people. When you speak on that topic, I find myself nodding in agreement. I've always felt Jewish in my heart; you were so wise and courageous to pursue your dream. I've been looking forward to this video; thank you SO much for sharing your wedding with us. Many blessings to you and your family..wishing you a very long and happy lifetime of love together! Rosemarie 💖
@@jaroffireflies I forgot to mention that my best friend wore my wedding gown. She got married 1 year and 1 month after me. I too am not sentimental about objects, just people! 💞
Wow! Im so glad i found your channel. Im new to the homeschooling community and also sephardic jewish. Thanks for sharing such beautiful videos...I've seen 2 more recent ones and im hooked. Can't wait to see more. Have a beautiful day Chana ❤❤❤
Thank you for sharing this amazing celebration! You are a stunning couple who radiates pure love. I have to say, I choked up at the picture of him looking at you during the ring ceremony. What beauty! While I am Jewish, I did not have a traditional wedding (the good ol' courthouse was enough for us). I absolutely enjoy watching Orthodox ceremonies. They stir something deep in my soul. Thank you again for this glimpse into your life.
I think it’s amazing how close knit Jewish families are and how your in laws did all the catering and your MIL made your dress modest and made the other lovely outfit (don’t know how to spell it 😂) I think people could learn a lot from your way of life! It’s so true when people say it takes a village I would feel so blessed to be able to raise my kids in such a tight knit community full of like minded people, hopefully one day🙏🏼❤️
What a fabulous wedding story, such exciting and beautiful memories. I love that family and community comes together to give the new couple to be a special and meaningful wedding. You and your husband looked so happy, you were a very pretty bride. 😊💕

What a gorgeous bride. You looked so happy and excited in the photos. You looked like you belonged in a bride magazine. Your flowers were so colorful and beautiful. A Perfect day for you and your husband.
The both of you looked very clean on your wedding day! Your outfits were very traditional and acceptable with in the religion. It was very nice to see how you both started out.
B”H Chana!!!! I’m tearing up!!!! You look like a gorgeous princess and Eishes Chayil….Aba bless you both, thank you so much for sharing your special day with us💖
Beautiful! Even though my wedding was chassidish, we also have similar customs to Sephardim! (I still had to do a yichud room, but I had to cover my hair afterwards at the reception.) Also had a friend do my hair and makeup last minute because we weren't sure who could do it the day of, since mine was also a total corona wedding. Loved seeing your photos and hearing about your story!
Oh wow I didn't know ya'll did that about the hair covering! I remember they almost didn't;t let us do the wedding at the shul because it was an ashkenazi shul and they said we had to do a yichud room. We obviously refused lol I think the compromise was that we went into the rabbis office for a few minutes lol
@@jaroffireflies it really depends on the chassidus but in general most women wear a wig at the chuppah to already have had their hair covered throughout the wedding (though I chose to put on a white tichel after the yichud room!) And yeah the yichud room thing is very interesting halachically and hashkafically!
@@tammyleigh21 the groom never gets a rind related to the ceremony. Most Orthodox men do not where a ring though many may choose to wear one to work, etc if the need arises to let it be known they are married.
Yay! I love wedding stories, they always make me think of my own wedding 🙂 You two were (and are!) such a sweet couple. As a fellow introvert I had lots of the same feelings about a wedding. But honestly, I was so caught up in actually getting married and being so happy to finally start the rest of my life with my husband, that I hardly noticed the people. Outside of the food and the flowers (the parts my mom took care of!) my wedding was pretty DIY and nothing was to fancy and that helped with my nerves too. I’m not typically a formal gal. The most fun thing about my wedding was probably that my cow was my ring bearer!
What a happy and handsome couple! I have been to a couple Jewish weddings but they were for couples of different faiths - in fact, my son's best friend from high school, who is Jewish, married a girl who was born in China, so while their wedding was more of what I would call a "regular" ceremony held outdoors, their reception was a wonderful mix of Jewish and Chinese traditions. It was probably one of the most fun receptions I've ever attended. It sounds like your day was one to remember as well - and I am SO impressed with your mother-in-law! Thank you for sharing.
@@jaroffireflies It was. He wore a tux and she wore a white bridal gown for the marriage ceremony, then changed for the reception. The bride wore a stunning long red skirt and a red jacket embroidered in gold that had been made in China and the groom wore a long tunic in green/gold with gold embroidery that I think was also made in China. During the reception, they had a traditional Chinese tea ceremony and they did the Jewish dance where the couple is lifted up on chairs. It was quite a party!
Ohmygoodness, there are funny BLOOPERS at the end, Ya'll. I could be watching anything on HULU but what am I doing on a Saturday night? Why, having a Jar of Fireflies watch party. Party of me and my dog. **Let's talk about that dress!!! This dress was made for you, you complete it and are so stunning in those photos. You are SO LUCKY to have this amazingly talented woman in your life. I hope to see a photo of the kaftan? that she brought over. It was on a hanger and had the exquisite work done. Anyway, I am going to be watching as many vlogs/videos as possible this weekend.
I find it stunningly beautiful that the first time you touched your bridegroom was when he welcomed you to the wedding hoopa. The height of romance. It also exemplifies the high esteem that you had for one another before entering into the marriage. You must have felt quite cherished. May you always feel so cherished!

My daughter in law honored my request for a modest wedding dress. Needless to say I believe (as my son does) she is worth more than rubies!

What a gorgeous bride. You looked so happy and excited in the photos. You looked like you belonged in a bride magazine. Your flowers were so colorful and beautiful. A Perfect day for you and your husband.
Thank you so much!😊
Your wedding was so beautiful. You were both looking so joyous! Thank goodness for your in laws. Such an incredible day!
You all look so happy at your wedding. I can clearly see the love between you two. I hope you have many more happy years together.
Thank you so much!!
The both of you looked very clean on your wedding day! Your outfits were very traditional and acceptable with in the religion. It was very nice to see how you both started out.
So glad you enjoyed this :)
Such a beautiful bride! And you are so right! Your MIL is anazing! What she did with your dress!
Thank you! yes she is just something else!
B”H Chana!!!! I’m tearing up!!!! You look like a gorgeous princess and Eishes Chayil….Aba bless you both, thank you so much for sharing your special day with us💖
Thank you so much!!!
I was surprised that the bride doesn't give a ring to the groom! Does the groom ever have a ring? Xxxx
Ashkenazi here
@@jaroffireflies it really depends on the chassidus but in general most women wear a wig at the chuppah to already have had their hair covered throughout the wedding (though I chose to put on a white tichel after the yichud room!) And yeah the yichud room thing is very interesting halachically and hashkafically!
@@tammyleigh21 the groom never gets a rind related to the ceremony. Most Orthodox men do not where a ring though many may choose to wear one to work, etc if the need arises to let it be known they are married.
Beautiful pictures! 😍 Thank you for sharing your story and your wedding pictures. Blessings
That’s so fun! Thanks so much for sharing about your wedding 💜
I bet that was fun to see a mixture of cultures!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I am so glad that you are enjoying my videos :) And hooray for the watch party!!!
I find it stunningly beautiful that the first time you touched your bridegroom was when he welcomed you to the wedding hoopa. The height of romance.
It also exemplifies the high esteem that you had for one another before entering into the marriage. You must have felt quite cherished.
May you always feel so cherished!
Thank you so much for your kind words :)
I recently stumbled upon your videos and they are wonderful! As a non Jewish woman, I love learning about all of the topics you cover.

This was so fun to watch! I think this is the first time I’ve seen your husband’s face in a video. You looked so beautiful and happy!
Glad you liked it!! My husband has been in a couple other videos, but just briefly :)
What a lovely bride you were! Many brides today do not see the simply beauty in a modest wedding dress. My son was married in the Phillipeans to a wonderful girl there. My daughter in law honored my request for a modest wedding dress. Needless to say I believe (as my son does) she is worth more than rubies!
It sounds like you have a wonderful son and daughter-in-law:)
Your mother in law did an excellent job on your dress. You are beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much 😊
