A very interesting video as I too am looking into 955 Cayenne's! I want one to stick my roof tent on and to enjoy a little more offroad capability than my E Class estate, haha! What kind of price would you say is right for a vehicle from say 2005 to 2008?
Thanks, it was a my first try at a buyers guide 😁 It really depends on condition. The cars can do the mileage but I would focus on the service history. Making sure that there are lots of invoices that show the car has been taken care of. You can spend as little at £1500 on a Cayenne but that is dangerous price point imo. A 955 turbo will have less chance of bore score, but they are more expensive. Any of the versions will still be pricey to run. I’d budget at least £2k for servicing in the first year, up to £5k in some instances. I definitely want to own another Cayenne at some point as they are genuinely great cars, i just had bad luck with the one I picked.
It's on the list to try in the spring, with the wet weather I am kinda scared to attempt a fix and have it stuck open. For the blind, have you tried resetting it (hold the blind close button for 20 seconds and switch ignition to acc), it should extend. There are three motors, one in the front for the blind and two in the rear for the pano roof. There are three manual releases. If you have a code scanner like an icarsoft por 2/3 you can scan the sunroof and see what the issue is.
Managed to get it to work again thanks to your tip i appreciate, only problem is only the first panel opens normally the middle panel goes down a bit and just stops wont go further
A big one with these that people don't talk about enough is the transmission torque converter seal. When the coolant pipes fail (or during replacement), coolant will run into the bell housing and find its way onto this seal. With the immense heat in this area, it will harden into a nasty white substance which will eat up the seal and cause a transmission fluid leak. Fixing this generally requires removal of the entire drivetrain from the car, which as you can imagine is a massive and costly job. There is also some anecdotal evidence to suggest that burned exhaust valves are not too uncommon. Not only will that warrant an engine removal, but the head(s) will need to come off.
@@Project40Cars If your plastic coolant T's at the rear of the engine have not yet been replaced, make sure when they are no coolant is spilt into the valley of the engine while pulling off other pipes to gain access. I made this mistake on mine and will pay dearly for it.
I bought a cayenne turbo 955 about 8 months ago, I've drove 30,000 miles without any problems. I bought from an older guy who couldn't afford to run it anymore, paid the correct amount of money for it and seems like I got a good one so far. The only issue was the main carrier bearing went on the prop shaft (20yr old car so wear and tear) and I used a clever jimmy fix I saw online which saved me about £600. Absolutely love the car, fully loaded V8 Porsche turbo for £5,00, bargain
@@Project40Cars One thing I learned from my wealthy boss who earned every dime. Never fall in love with a deal. Porsche built 150,000 955s. There is the perfect one for you out there if you are patient. Just have liquidity to make a quick deal if that car comes up.
Great video, I'm going to buy a 955 so it is timely. About your production, the screen behind you moves a lot and flashes etc. To me, it is very distracting. It serves no purpose and detracts from your message. Thanks for the video though.
@@Project40Cars No, it WASN'T HELPFUL. The screen behind you was distracting. Sad because your content is important. But your channel, you put in all of the distracting things behind you that you want.
@@skullandbiscuits I’d always pick a turbo over the v8 just because of the oil squirters reducing the chance of bore score. V6 is pretty reliable but do check the timing chain as they can stretch. Not too expensive to change though.
Your Porka is stunning by the way
Stunningly broken 😂

Can you attempt to fix the panoramic sunroof, i have the same issue you have the blind wont open or close and neither will the sunroof

That'a a good tip, so far the transmission seems to be ok (famous last words), but I do need to get a fluid change done soon.

Great video only thing I’d say is it’s very distracting watching auto Alex in the background while trying to pay attention to everything you saying.
Thanks, I whacked on my Cayenne playlist to have on in the background so it’s started with that story. Would a static image be better?
It’s whatever you prefer to be honest, it’s how you feel that matters the most. And if everyone else doesn’t mind then you on to something.
Absolutely love this mate you know your Cayenne’s I’m really thinking hard now! The seller hasn’t answered regarding the coolant pipes!
Painfully learnt 😂 there’s plenty of Cayennes out there, so there’s no rush to get one. Make sure you get an inspection as well.
