Majority of people think this looks bad compared to EP3? 🤣 Everyone I've heard from that moves on from an EP3 say the complete opposite. FN2 is a much better looking car and I've been in Type Rs since my DC2.
I think these have aged really well. At first, i didnt like the look of these, but as the years have gone by, it looks awesome.
I think it’s the best looking Type R Civic, really didn’t like the granny cart looks of the ep3. It certainly has flaws in regards to the harsh ride, but I love mine.

built in sat nav and lsd. Had the older one without the lsd and I can safly say the lsd version is amazing. Get it on a nice windy road and it comes alive
My fn2 lived on the rev limiter, never bothered with the clutch but just used the bounce of tbe limiter for fast shifts. Bouncing off the limiter at 155mph was annoying so straight cut essential.

I’ll be honest, I don’t see how an EP3 looks better than an FN2. Then again I do own an FN2 so I’m biased
I've had both and I think the fn looks better but the ep definitely goes better
I think if both stock the ep3 looks better. But if modded with some skirts and spoilers, the fn2 looks better. Coming from a stock fn2 owner
I don’t own any of the 2 and i think the FN2 looks far nicer than previous and the later. Hopefully il buy one eventually.

Can’t take your opinion seriously if you think the ep3 looks better than the FN2, the design was so ahead of its time although admittedly manufactured to a budget

I agree i think the fn2 is alot nicer, it looks like a Performace car, the EP3 looks like a wagon to me, and im not even a Honda enthusiast but ive always liked the FN2 ever since they were released. Is there a way of making the suspension a little less as harsh? Maybe coil overs or a smaller rims bigger side wall?

Personally I think they look incredible, always fancied one over the EP3.
I think most of the people who hate on these cars are the diehard EP3 fan boys, they're not the worst looking think on the world and age a lot better than its rivals
Think you've hit the nail on the head.
These FN2'S are getting more popular by the day, especially now the prices seem to have bottomed out. If u can get a un modded straight example the prices will go the same way as the EP3. This is the last of the great naturally aspirated Honda engines.

Ive noticed theyve gone up a few grand in the past couple of years, near impossible to find an LSD version for under £10k/70k miles
My 72k 2009 fn2 was 7k
These were just way before their time. I've noticed all recent reviews of these are very positive. It could have come out in 2020 and it would have been spot on. Amazing car.
FN2 are great daily drivers and if you put a mugen kit on it, it definitely looks good and the interior is nicer to be in.
As a guy with children (a family) although this fn2 looks fucking beat, there good cars, there more practical then an ep3

Having drove both ep3 and fn2. I feel the old ep3 is more raw but the fn2 feels more easy to drive on a daily basis. I prefer the fn2 as an all rounder

Nice review, I have an 09FN2CTRGT does it all, bombproof and I personally love the looks. I would just point out that the bloke you're shouting at who was behind the bikes didn't overtake them because there were solid white lines in the road which don't mean no overtaking but they do mean don't cross the line. You wouldn't want to ignore that and meet someone coming the other way! Solid review tho!
I got a quote from Adrian flux for an Audi A3 2.0tdi 140bhp with the mods declared and it was £3600, I then went to axa and got it for £700....... work that one out

I'm biased as I own the 'ugly duckling' FN2, but I do personally love the look of them and I'm glad Jesse has given this car the thumbs up it deserves on it's positive attributes. They're nowhere near as bad as people make out, I feel pretty confident driving mine. 😁 Find a better hot hatch for £3k to £4k?
I absolutely love the look of the FN2. I was really torn between getting the FN2 type R or the Megane R26. Girlfriend said she wanted to get the Type R, so I went with the Megane thinking we'd have both in the house then she went and got the 2.2CDTi civic instead.
I'm glad I went for the meg though, there's so many annoying things about the cabin in the FN2, like the enormous A pillars, the stupid wipers that don't clear half the screen etc.

Diffs were in the championship white ones.. and also I’m pretty sure they came standard on 2010 cars
Any car built after April 2010 has the LSD standard.
Champ white ones cone with them standard.
Think it was an optional extra for any other before April 2010, but most pre April 2010 cars don't have an LSD.
My Deep Sapphire Blue car is a 2010 but is a non LSD car. Was registered March 2010 so built before April 2010

I had an fn2 in 2008 it is a sick car just needs better brakes... also has rear torsion bar suspension rather than individual

The FN2 with the mugen style spoiler look amazing! They have also aged really well, was ahead of there time.

Good review mate, I personally love the look of these. The thing that took me away from them is the back step in suspension design... 👍 the lsd was standard in 2010 models or the 09 championship white one 👍

@@bogmasher don't get me wrong, you can make the fn2 handle! It did brilliantly in the btcc but didn't have the dominance the dc5 or ep3 had. These two cars even took a back step 8n front suspension design in comparison to the eg and ek chassis though as they went from a front dual wishbone to a macpherson strut design. Its not bad, ita just not optimal

The ep3 was always going to be a tough act to follow
No doubt I've driven an ep bought an FN purely on two factors, most EP3's are now long in the tooth and starting to rot and lack of toys & creature comforts
No doubt the EP3 has exhilarating performance out the box whereas the FN Needs work

Appearance wise Honda was ahead of it’s time it belongs on the road with all the new cars now in 2023 specially when you do a few subtle body mods
I don't think the hate is by the looks more it had the same engine as the ep3 and weighed a bit more hence it's slightly slower.
I love mine for the way it looks because yeah your right there's nothing else like out there to this day.
I've just had an LSD fitted and wow massive difference and no more understeer.
I do wish these were fitted with the K24 engine which is the power it's missing 🤗 240bhp

Didn't use to like them but after watching some of the older BTCC and seeing them flying on there they do really look quite aggressive when lowered and have a nice wheel setup. (From the front anyway)

All non Mugen FN2 Type R's have the same wing whether it's a standard Type R or Type R GT. This one has a 'Seeker' spoiler extension, they look good with the Mugen or FK2 style wing too. 👍

Bought one of these 2 months ago fantastic car. Needed a daily car. I live in Ireland and as soon as u mention anything about "type r" u get shafted with insurance prices so this was the most realistic option. Also I think everyone reverts back to tops gears review in 07 which in my opinion starting the hatred for these. Doesnt deserve the stick it gets. Personally for me I'd have the fn2 over the ep3. But if I could choose a type r to have it would be the ek9. Seats in the fn2 aswell sold it for me. And it's the last of the naturally aspirated type r's. Which will never be seen again.
How has the car been now after 4 months? Just sold my old 08 1.8 and always loved the fn2 but debating the buy for everyday practical use.

I personally love the way it looks, nothing else looks like it on the road.
Anyone that thinks the overall looks of the ep3 are better than the fn2 have no design awareness whatsoever. It was a very brave design and years ahead of everything else - a true design classic. Another 10 years and all these ep3 luvvies will be saying how great the fn2 was.
Trying to tempt my brother into buying one, but needs a mugen wing. Completely changes the look.

5:12 : Yes the do handle pretty well without independent rear suspension and actually have a little more mid range torque.

I don;t believe they do have an LSD as standard at all. That is only on the very rare MUGEN version.
THE FN2 would have been better if the GT Specification was the Standard Spec. They do look a lot better with the GT Kit.
I learnt to drive in this model of honda and when u get past the weirdness its actually not that bad

If the fn2 came out of the factory with more power like say 230/240 bhp it wouldn't get the hate it gets today. Haha. I've just sold my wrx Impreza Hatch which probably gets the same opinions on it. Ive bought a nice weapon though. All will be revealed on my channel soon.

Phenomenal machines these are for everyday use,redlines galore and all you have to maintain is the oil level! Nothing comes close to the bang for your buck you get with these cars, they're the best all-rounder out there for £3k
You really need to expand your vocabulary to beyond weird and amazing. Essentially this video is just an average joe driving a fast car and waffling on about it with no real idea what the fuck they're saying. Brutal but honest.
I like the interior and seats in these but the exterior is kinda what puts me off buying one.

Looks way better than the EP3 box that came before it. Nothing will beat the OG Jap Civic Type R and Integra DC2's engines though for raw noise and noticeable VTEC switchover.
yea i had same feel on the fn2 altho people say the ep3 was better handling and performance my fn always felt fast then my ep3 and they was both stock at the time
There's a few EP3 vs FN2 videos out there, they're pretty much the same speed/acceleration despite the FN2 weighing more.
I also do like the modern Honda Type R's now, they look nice.

From the stereo it looks like a earlier version of the car which didn't have a LSD.
IMHO The FN2 is the best looker of the bunch…even looks good now 😁 owned one a couple years back loved it but the ride was to hard for me but the best handling car I’ve owned.
Adrian Flux has always been good insurance, back in 2008 i insured my first car with them and it was over 300 cheaper than the next best quote.

Only bad point was previous owner lowered it on spax with 18” wolf race wheels

I acc think its probably the most rancid car about stock. But stick a mugen wing on it and some black aftermarket alloys and it becomes imo such a lovely looking car

Totally agree, it’s like the hate bandwagon, a lot of old ep3 owners just can’t get over the modern looks of the FN2 and are stuck in the era of the granny cart design. The FN2 is a design classic as far as many people are concerned.

In Japan, everyone sees the ep3 as a softer 'non' type r, where as they see as the fd2 as a return to form, crazy to see how much worse the fn2 is, but at the end of the day, the fn2 does actually have its roots shared with the jazz

I think the problem with the styling of the fn2 is that from the outside, it looks too similar to the standard civic which doesn’t make it as exciting as a type r should be.
