Interesting thing to point out - the moment Chuck washes ashore on the island, the musical score stops. The music doesn't pick back up again until he leaves the island, clears the rough surf and looks back to his now former home. Strong emotional impact.
Yep, music would have taken a lot away from the experience.. hearing only the sound of the ocean, sand, rain, wind.. that all made us more immersed into his experience.
Big flaw in the movie: With a search party out close enough for chuck to even see their lights, they never thought about checking out the island?
For those who think Forest Gump was emotional, this movie had us crying over a volleyball
Big truth
Every time.
But that feather 😢
@nathanbonez01 This Is Role of Tom’s Best Drama Roles Besides Forest Gump!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣💯💯
The ending is very symbolic. Earlier, Chuck was telling his friend that he had no control over anything while on the island and couldnt even kill himself the way that he wanted but at the end of the movie, he was at the crossroads and now had control of his life and can go in any path that he wanted.
he didn't open the packages in the beginning because he still had hope that he would be rescued.
Fun fact: the director suggested that Tom should make the fire by hand and it took a while.. the scene with him dancing and saying "i have made fire" is non scripted.
Brush off those negative comments. You're the first reactor on RUclips I discovered! I couldn't stop watching your music reactions. You've come so far! ❤ Keep up the positivity and good work. Love ya Leo! I'm always entertained and your laugh is contagious, 😊 👏👏👏

Just so you know, this is a movie where everyone cried over a man who talks to and loses his volleyball like its a person. It takes TALENT to pull something like this off!
That scene where he loses Wilson in the ocean is so digging emotional......How the hell do I tear up over a volleyball???? Its right up there with Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile......
frigging..... not digging

That red bag that was attached to the raft and sank when the plane crashed was an advanced survival kit. It had lighters, matches, food, meds, possible .22 rifle. It would have been game changing for him... Most of the items inside the kit would have replaced skills he had to learn (lighter/fire, fishing kit/spear fishing, meds/for his tooth). Its a small but clever detail.
and it also contains an automatic repeating radio locator beacon
Wild! I never knew that 🫨
... or game ending if it did have the .22 rifle.
It may have helped him for the first week at least...
@@stevefrench4139 be a hard sell to try and delete yourself with a .22 survival rifle …. Given the small caliber of the round and the geometry of the weapon it would be difficult to keep it properly aligned for optimal effect while at the same time discharging it
You didn't miss anything, you pointed it out your self. He didnt open the package becuase it represented his hope in returning home.
Please please please don’t listen to those negative comments, we love the “kids” movies and your reactions never fail to make us happy. So many of these “kids” movies are worth watching. We love it! We can’t get enough of it. 😄
Love that you reacted to this movie, it’s so compelling being that it’s mostly Chuck and Wilson. 😆
Yes, just don't react to the movie Kids from 1995 lol (can you say demonetized?)
Speak for yourself. I really wish he would watch more scifi movies. Minority report, ai artificial intelligence, oblivion, blade runner 2049, annihilation, coherence, etc.
True example of Tom Hanks’ reach as an actor. I feel like this role was made for him, although I can’t help but hear woody every time he screams lol!
There's a Snake in my Boot!
I don't care what movies you are doing. I love every single one of your reactions.
One interesting detail about this movie is its name. Usually, someone who is shipwrecked and stranded is called a 'castaway' (one word). While related, the phrase 'cast away' doesn't refer to a person in that state, it means 'thrown away'. Which is meaningful because the film focuses not on Chuck's status as a castaway, as if that forever defines him. Yes, he was 'cast away', but he did not remain a 'castaway' -- Chuck became a survivor! He worked hard, fought through his despair, and remained open to whatever the tide would bring.
And he keeps that optimism not only during his time on the island, but after he gets home and realizes Kelly has moved on. Once again, he finds he has been 'cast away', by love. He's lost the person with whom he was going to spend the rest of his life.
However, survivor Chuck, no castaway he, upon finding himself both literally and figuratively at a crossroads, remains open to whatever gifts the tide might bring. And what it does bring is Bettina Peterson (no longer with her ex-husband Dick, who was the cowboy hat guy cheating on her in Russia, and whose first name no longer graces their ranch sign/arch), with whom Chuck shares a connection already -- through her package that kept his hope and will to live alive.
So the movie isn't explicit, but because Chuck realizes as she drives away he's met the woman who sent the package and painted the wings, I like to think we already know the direction Chuck decides at the end!
She had already cast him away before he even left
Very nice interpretation and summary.

Since he didn’t realize at the end, the wings where on the back of the truck so the owner of that package was that lady and she gave him directions in where to go on next while she doesn’t know her package saved his life and that’s why I was shell shocked looking at that wings at the back of the truck because he knew his life was saved a second time by her
My daughter sat down with me and watched this today. You had her in stitches. New fan. And, Leo, I am glad you are expanding your brand. You are very smart and I love your empathy and insights!
It scared me as a kid. The plane scene still scares me.
I like to think in that last scene he was caught at a crossroad of life. She said the other way was a whole lotta nothing all the way up to Canada. So I like to imagine that he followed her truck. A nice lady with a cute dog and a farm in the middle of nowhere.❤
So, basically an island away from all the distractions of the world. And as far away from water and seafood as possible.
He's already used to isolation and stillness; hard to come back to population centers after that.
Yep, she's tested and now he's tested; would make a good match, those two movie characters.
So, did she wash up in the tide for him, or did he for her?
And a story that connects both of their lives….. which is what he needs at that point….
AND newly divorced looking for a man who will _never_ quit on her.
@@samwallaceart288 plus that FedEx box has alot of history they can chat up about!🔥

I love the big screen!!! Much easier to follow along! Great job!
There is an answer to “what’s in the box”. There was an “official” parody one year for the Super Bowl that there was a satellite phone with extra batteries. But in the script, it says it was 2 jars of homemade green chili salsa to get a husband homesick and to come back home (redhead and the cowboy respectively).
I love that script detail. That package did the trick; brought a good man home just not in the way she expected
42:42 The speech Chuck gives at the end about remembering to keep breathing and hoping for what tomorrow brings is one of my favorite inspirational speeches. I'm glad you liked this, @IT'S MR. VIDEO
I still can't get over the fact that this film made me sad for a man losing a football at sea
Big part is Alan silvertri music.
thought it was a volleyball..😂😂
There was a hidden audio easter egg on one of the DVD menus for this movie. If you put in the right directional code to unlock it, there is an audio file from a Q&A where (I believe) the writer jokingly tells the audience that what is inside the package with wings is “a solar-powered, waterproof, satellite cellphone.”
During the 2003 superbowl, there was a FedEx Superbowl commerical that spoofed the ending scene of this movie, and he asked what was in the Package.... she replied "Nothing Really, a Satellite Phone, GPS Locator, Fishing Pole, Water Purifier tablets, Seeds.... Just some silly stuff"....
Makes me think no matter what, wrap in plastic as if in this then high chance it survive the sea and be useful
The package contained hope.
I'll show myself out...
@woodch you are not wrong

Wilson makes me cry every time. Tom Hanks actually got real sick and ended up in the hospital for a while before resuming the movie. great reaction leo.. "I'm so proud today" is again stuck in my head 🎉🎉😢😂😂😂❤
You didn’t show it so maybe you didn’t notice, but the lady at the end…as she drove off he saw that she had the wings from the package on the back of her truck. The tide brought him another chance at love.
I was wondering if Leo picked up on that...
@@Josh-GTyeah, I think he missed it. I’d guess he would’ve mentioned the wings had he seen them.
Bro, when you said “Don’t take your girl to the dentist, yall.” I was cracking up.
My favorite Family Guy cut-away is Peter yelling "Wilson!" at the ball, and the ball says, "My name is Voit."
Wilson is my favorite character. He had all the best lines. ✌️
22:38 Your genuine frustration is just one of the reasons i love watching your reactions bro, you are fully invested and i love it, as am i with your videos
I love that you have a variety of genres in your reactions! Keep doing what you’re doing and ignore the haters!

Haha that's cool 😂
"Me and Albert be chillin in death, just swimming and beating up crabs."
Lmao!
Legend has it that there was a satellite phone in the box he delivered.
this movie is extremely special to me. i saw it in the theater with someone i cared about very deeply, and i think of him whenever i see a reference to it. plus it’s just a damn fine film on all levels, terrific performance by tom hanks, beautifully shot, clever as hell way to get through an hour-plus of a movie with only one character by introducing wilson and giving a reason for there to be dialogue. thank you as always, leo ❤
"Couldn't lay his own package down when he got home." 😳🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wings on the package and that woman's truck. A sign or divine intervention is what they were getting at .
That volleyball scene where he loses Wilson made me cry as a grown man. ❤
I googled what was in the package because I also needed to know. Apparently in the original script he did open it, and there were two jars of salsa and a letter from a wife to her husband essentially asking her husband to come back home. Looks like it was returned to sender.
The things these actors/actresses do for a role. Tom Hanks really lost all that weight for this role. ✌️
According to the director, the box was a pre activated waterproof satellite phone that has a solar power charger in it. Meaning it was ready to use without having to put batteries in it. Can you imagine that shit? The whole time it was something that would of helped him to get out of there. 🤦♂️😁🤣
Pretty sure that was a commercial spoof. I read it was salsa
😂 "Wilson done grew dreads..." that made my drink go up my nose, thanks MV, hahaha.
The package contained a satellite phone, water proof matches, swiss army knife, fishing gear, a medical kit, needle & thread, & water purification tablets, of course.

My guy! Don’t you have to apologize to anyone! This is your channel, and what you feel is best to watch at the time and what you want to watch. Nothing wrong with watching older Disney movies. That’s the whole point of a reaction channel, to react to movies you’ve never seen, and that includes cartoon movies too.
Keep doing your thing and make your content how you want to make it. Love the channel and you’ve been doing big things through out the years!
Great movie choice. Dope reaction as always Leo my man 🔥
I always loved the background theme of this movie, one centered around Chuck, which is time. He is a man obsessed with time and ruled by time with his job and relationship (having to schedule dates with Kelly) that gets thrown into a world where he has nothing but time. He tracks time on the island, which is what allows him to keep track of the weather patterns, and that ultimately saves him when he finds that section of portable toilet wall.
I don't mind Disney and Pixar movies I love your reactions keep up the great work Leo happy new year miracles and blessings to you and yours much luv ✌️ 💜🙏.

Oh yeah, we BACK! Looking forward to this one!
Nah man, don't EVER get rid of the kid in you. The day you do that, is the day you start to die. Kids movies capture the Wonder and hope at a level that adults aren't "allowed" to have. For adults, everything has to be "serious" or "smart," and that isn't true. It isn't reality. And your reactions to "kids" movies helps us adults relive those moments of how we felt when watching those movies.
Your editing looks great! I love that you're expanding your content, too! This was a heartfelt reaction; made me feel like I was watching it for the first time. 😊

So all Chuck would'a had to done is open the package and call for rescue * 😆
The only solid real truth is that you CANT make everyone happy all of the time. No changing that fact. All you can do is be your real self (which you already do so well) and just hope people appreciate it. If you constantly go around and around trying to make every complainer happy you’ll just be spinning yourself in useless circles that only make you unhappy.
Do it how ever you want to do your thing. Real fans will stay with you through the changes and the ones who don’t (the complainers) will absolutely be replaced with better ones.
Keep it up man! Make your money the best way you see fit. You’re a genuine guy so you’ll succeed in the end and hopefully even succeed far better than you even imagined.
