    Honestly what a person buys to drive is their preference and you can't really shit on someone for their taste in vehicle. If it looks nice and they enjoy it and have the money... By all means they are allowed to buy it and be happy with it. I drive a 2014 tC and love it to death. Where I'm from it actually stands out from all the Subaru's and Evo's!

    For all the haters.. I've owned civics and golf's, mitsubishis and ford's and they also rattle and make noises even before lots of miles are put on them. This is a Toyota and it's just as reliable as Hondas or volkswagons if not more. Don't hate on a car because of rattles and noises when all the other shit boxes do the same thing and worse. And for those that say it's slow.. There's no turbo or supercharged version from the factory and this car has put up 6.7-7.4 sec 0-60 times (manual). How is that bad for 180hp? The whole point of this car is to add to it after its purchased visually and mechanically. That's how it's even marketed by Toyota.

    • @Sonic_1000
      @Sonic_1000 9 лет назад +1

      Samuel Sarvis I've owned a 2013 Scion tC and now a 2014 Civic Si. The Honda is light years ahead of the Scion in driving dynamics and performance. The tC also had transmission issues at 19k miles. Rear input shaft like most suffer from with the manual.

    • @Boltdriver70
      @Boltdriver70 9 лет назад +4

      Well maybe you got a lemon but my girl has an 07 and except for rotors and pads its been flawless at 120k miles. Not even the battery has been changed. Additionally, this is in upstate NY and we use salt on the roads (8 winters). I bought a 2014 now with 20k miles and it's been absolutely flawless. I liked my Honda (06 si) but it had some problems like 3rd gear would pop out driving and the suspension was making sounds after 18 months of owning it (bought new).. if u compare a 14 Civic si (and no the reg civic doesn't compare to this car in any category except price maybe) it's 2/10s of a sec faster to 60 vs the tc and everything else including cornering (lateral g) is better in the tc. You said "light years" ahead, come on now.

      There are numerous people on the 2011+ Scion tC Facebook page with the exact issue. There is also a service bulletin. And even with that some dealers were trying to get out of pulling the transmission to fix it.

      There is a Toyota service bulletin for it. Go join the lame Scion owners page on Facebook. You'll have to dig through all the posts of them pretending to win drag races, though. They also have it covered on the forums and have a few videos on RUclips of the TSB. I'll never own another tC again. Slow and unreliable was a bad combo.

    I own a 2016 Blue Streak Metallic tC with an automatic, and I've been loving it! I tried out a manual one in Cement Gray in my area, couldn't get used to the rev-match on it (coming from an '01 Celica GT-S), so I found the Blue Streak Metallic one and got that instead. Like everyone says though, they are great commuter cars, and I personally love mine with the TRD exhaust equipped. A bit noisier in the cabin compared to the stock exhaust, but I love it regardless! And the colour I think really shines through more than most of the other colour options, you can see the body lines a lot more clearly with it.
    Also of note, apparently the 2016 Scion tC was the only year they had a rear wiper blade as standard, which I found strange. :P

    • @static_Tricolor_camry
      @static_Tricolor_camry Год назад

      Why would you choose an Automatic over a Manual, downshifting wears out the clutch. You don't need to Rev match, throw it in Neutral. I'm currently financing a 2016 Scion TC same color Blue with the 6 Speed Manual Transmission. There's more Automatics then Manual, I waited till I found one with the 6 Speed Manual Transmission. I didn't want an Automatic TC, cause I'm planning to do mods Exterior, Interior and a few engine bolt on's.

      I had an 06. I drove the hell out of it. Put 96k miles on it in 3 years. Unfortunately they didn't build that generation very well. Things started rattling. I saw all my friends TCs falling apart. Only Issue I had was the switches on the door rattling and the back hatch, nothing fell off mine. Only reason I got rid of it is because the check engine light would keep coming on and I thought that was the end of the road for her. Find out last year, my friend has the same year I did, it happened to her and her gas cap dry rotted, they replaced it and it fixed the problem.... Damn! I wish I had her back, she'd been paid off.

    Why i went for the tc. More torque than the frs great handling 2.5inline 4 banger put a turbo into her and you'll beat gti's. sounds great for the price you can't beat it. It looks different but at the same time it looks great! I own the 2015 I went with the auto with paddle shifters. Now debating on an invidia n1 exhaust or just going trd. I live in pa that being said RWD isnt going to cut it. Even if i am a car enthusiast. for a every day driver and weekend driver with the sun roof and windows down this car is everything i wanted it to be. Cons- Engine is kinda whiney could be power steering or something idk. something rattling with 14k miles on it been looking for it for a few days now((isn't engine or chassis related)). doors rattle a bit when you have the bass all the way up and pass 28 but when you put your hands on the door handle it stops. lol license plate rattles but just get two extra plastic screws screw em in and your set to go. I see most tc haters just hate simply because they bought some over expensive car when you can buy a cheaper car like this that beats frs's. if you say 20k is cheap... If a 2l Turbo evo can go head to head with a 2.5 flat 4 turbo than a 2.5 scion with a turbo can get up there in power. Depending on the angle you look at the tc it can be both epic looking but can look ugly as shit. which is why i have a love hate for my car. for anyone interested I will be going wrx in the near future. and possibly pump out some cruising videos.That is my input on the tc peeps hope you enjoy. :)

      slasher 4433 Well all wheel drive for one. AWD is always better off the line and subaru seems to have perfected awd. Wrx comes with a turbo so less work there, you can just upgrade the turbo and add whatever you like. Evos are head comps against the sti and have a 2.0l so it will be a daily driver and my fun driving car at the same time! I live in Pennsylvania so as a daily driver the awd will come in handy throughout the year. With some loving subarus can be beautiful looking cars. Sebastian Rosenberg For the price, you get a complete car. Cruise Control, Moonroof, 17inch alloy wheels, spacious back seats, legit sound system, and Toyota reliability. And it gets decent MPG.
      When you live on your own and not with your parents you think practicality first and racer boy second.

    • @seb5945
      @seb5945 10 лет назад

      People who want practicality would get something else. Only boy racers drive TC; serious drivers don't consider this. Plus, TC's one of Toyota's weakest in terms of reliability.

      because not everybody wants a very small RWD sports car? Some people actually want a practical car that still looks nice. The tC has massive cargo space and gets good gas mileage. It's a super practical car for just an every day driver.

    I thought about getting the 1rst gen, I'm not feeling the 2nd gen looks much cuz of the back, looks kinda like the Japanese version of the Dodge Avenger....which I find hideous.

Looks and functionality rather than performance. For some the TC would make a great car. But not I ;-).

    Tc's are just like Honda Civic's you have to do a bunch of shit to them in Order for them to be fast against competition both of them are not made for racing their daily driver reliable commute cars that will get you where you need to go if you want to throw money into it why not get a car that's already ready to race like a Mitsubishi Evo or a Subaru STI problem solved!!
