    Awesome tips thank you ! I’m going to try this except for the cup because I have a little girl she’s 3 1/2. Fortunately the bathroom is right inside her room and for light I’m thinking of just using my cell phone light but dimming it a lot so that there’s barely any light. Let’s see how it goes!

    Hi! I'm considering this with our son. I'm curious to know when you decided/knew to cut out the 10/11 PM pee? Did you slowly phase it back towards bedtime? I'm wondering if you have any progress updates. Thanks for sharing your experience!

    • @LucyakaMom
      @LucyakaMom  3 года назад +5

      Hi Jeannine. Thanks for watching!! Oh my goodness it has been so long since I did this. I believe we kept up the 10:30pm pee for quite a while. Since it was about the time we went to bed this didn’t bother us. I think we waited for signs from him. He started saying no and resisted getting up to pee or he would barely have any pee. And that is when we stopped the 10:30 pee. I think it was a good few months. It depends on the kid though. My first son needed two pees a night for much longer and had more accidents along the way. Most important is not to let accidents deter you. Accidents will happen and it doesn’t mean you are failing or your kid is failing. It’s just a part of learning.
      Progress update: we barely ever have pee accidents from either boy. They sleep together now- I did a video on this transition if you’re interested. Both will get up and go to the bathroom to pee in the night if they need to (usually). Good luck momma!!

      @@LucyakaMom Thanks so much for this update! Our guy will be 3 in October and finally gained almost full independence with daytime (going to the bathroom on his own when he realizes he needs to), so looking at this as the next step. It's helpful to hear your update as I've always wondered if this method creates a dependence or inability for them to learn to wake up to the sensation if they need.

      @@LucyakaMom One week in doing the 10:30 PM potty and we are 4 for 7 with dry mornings (last night he was crying out at 2 AM so I suggested we do a pee). Feeling frustrated and wondering if we keep going forward with this. Hard to envision consistently dry mornings or him learning to wake on his own to go.

    • @LucyakaMom
      @LucyakaMom  3 года назад

      @@jean9luise413 I’m no expert but 4/7 sounds pretty good for the first week! I know it can feel like a huge fail every time they pee the bed, but it takes time for them to get the hang of it. Now remind me, are you taking away the 10:30 pee, so no pee breaks at all at night or have you taken away the second pee (the one around 2am) and now are only doing the 10:30 pee?
      Ps. You know your kid best and your momma intuition is a serious asset. Trust it!!

    Hi, I’ve been trying a variation of this method with my son the last 2 nights, except I take him to the toilet and back to bed. Do you think the solo cup would make a big difference? I’ve also noticed my son pees more at the first wake up and then not as much on the second and that he has had an accident between 4-6:30 am..I’ve been getting him up before I go to bed around 11 and 3. Would you suggest changing the second wake up to later?

    • @LucyakaMom
      @LucyakaMom  4 года назад +4

      Hi Jenn. Thanks so much for watching! Hmmm good questions... it’s always tricky to figure out the best times at first. Kinda a trial and error thing. If you’re doing fine taking him to the toilet then there is no reason to change to a solo cup. It’s more for ease for you (so you can get back to bed quicker) and to keep their sleep disruption to a minimum. Do what works for you though. If the toilet works then I would say stick with it! It sounds like you do need to move the second wake up a bit later if he is having accidents closer to morning. Just stay at least an hour to two before he wakes up for the day to avoid him fully waking up! Lastly, you know what’s working and what’s best for your kid so trust your gut and don’t get discouraged by accidents. They will happen and are not an indication you are doing something wrong. It all comes out in the wash. Good luck girl! xx

    Hi working with a 4 year old and I am waking her up at 10:30pm but she is peeing again between 3am-6am. She also WAKES up and wants to hop in our bed each time. I can move her after 30 minutes or an hour but this is a lot. Any tips?

    • @LucyakaMom
      @LucyakaMom  3 года назад +2

      Hi Yasmin. Hmm I’ve never done night training with an older child. Is she peeing a good amount at 10:30? If it seems like she could wait longer you could see how far back you can push the first pee session. Maybe if you move that one back she will make it till morning without needing the second one. You could also limit liquids after dinner (I only give them half a cup of fluid with dinner and then fill their water bottles only half filled up after dinner.)
      My 3 year old wakes up every now and then in the night and comes in our room. My 6 year old almost never does anymore. I think it’s pretty age appropriate behavior at that age. I TRY to get myself up right away and walk him back to his room without letting him lay with us in our bed. I have to stay with him usually till he falls back asleep, but that way he is falling back to sleep in his own bed. If you don’t want her in bed with you maybe try that. Good luck momma!! ❤️

      @@LucyakaMom Thanks so much. I've been moving her back to her bed after 30 min. I have a 7 month old that shares her room so we try not to wake him. Last night she woke up at 1am to get me to pee. My alarm hadn't gone off. I'm so proud. Since her pee was light at 10ish, I moved the alarm to 2am but that was too late so now I'm trying 1am. Thanks again!

      @zainabkamran1609 3 года назад

      He pees in diaper ...but if i wake him up nd take him to the toilet then he does it there ... but it's too hard to wake up after every 2 hours ... and some times after going to bed he pees after like 1 hour so there's no fixed timing for him ...
      And i feel too much disappointed 😏

    • @LucyakaMom
      @LucyakaMom  3 года назад +2

      @@zainabkamran1609 I’m sorry that must be frustrating! Honestly I would ditch the diaper. Diapers feel a certain way on the bum and tell the child it’s ok to pee. Double up mattress protectors, talk to him about it “it’s time to take off the diaper at night” and limit liquids after dinner (I push liquids earlier in the day). You will have accidents, but that is part of the process. Go in three times per night at first or whatever you can muster. You can do this! It’s so important to help him learn this at an early stage or he could have problems at night that last longer in life. The longer you wait the harder it will be. Good luck!!

    Hi, thanks for the video! I'm currently night training my 3 year old son and waking him up only once a night (at around 2:30) to go to the bathroom and he's doing well with minimum accidents, do you think if he'll eventually wake on his own to pee? how does that transition look like?

    • @LucyakaMom
      @LucyakaMom  3 года назад +1

      Hi Mollie. Yes! He will definitely get there! So tricky to figure out when and what that transition looks like. I would slowly start moving your pee time back little by little and see how he does. If he does well, great, keep going closer to morning. If he seems like he truly needs that 2:30 pee you can keep doing what your doing and see what happens or try limiting liquids after dinner a bit more and see if that helps him last longer. Just a mom here, but hope this helps a little. Thanks so much for watching and supporting my channel ❤️ good luck!!
