Stranger Things Season 4's Ending Has Just Been Changed In A Massive Way!
A brand new 3-hour story featuring Jamie Campell Bower as Henry/Vecna and Matthew Modine as Dr. Brenner just came out in the Stranger Things VR game and they added SO much to the story! We get to see Vecna himself possessing Will in Season 2 and we get to see Henry's first steps in the Upside Down, and we get to play as Flayed Billy and build a meat puppet, and so much more. The emotional ending was the cherry on the top. Strap in for a lot of new Stranger Things :)

I like the dynamic that Vecna and The Mind Flayer have where they disagree on how to handle things. Vecna is more concerned with killing and destroying, while the Flayer is more concerned with enslaving and consuming. But they still tolerate each other because they both want to escape and invade earth and share domain over The Upside Down. So Henry isn’t really the master of The Mind Flayer, and The Mind Flayer isn’t the master of Vecna. They are partners in crime. Despite what Vecna keeps telling the Flayer, he isn’t really fully dominant as The Flayer is actually willing to be used by him, and The Flayer although wishing for Vecna to hurry up and speed up the process is still patient with waiting to escape and enter earth’s dimension.
Ngl thats why I believe that next Vol there will be another villian, or they will reval the Source etc. Dustin did say Vecna is the "Five star General", The mindflayer and Vecna are fueled off pain which I believe is controlled or encouraged by another source that shows its abilites to its "generals" which fuels their dreams of revenge (Vecna) and taking over the world (MindFlayer).
Also I believe 11 somehow is gonna end up in Vecna's mind to figure this "source out" and save max "if she ends up blind or in that coma" what happen once henry got banished by eleven.
I think Billy puts on that tough guy/player persona to mask him, really wanting love.
People that have had abuse instead of love have learned abuse instead of love. Some of us experience it, some act on it. Sounds horrible but it is a bit logical too as people get easily conditioned to almost anything.

I was always a nice kid, but I got picked on by everyone - friends, family, teachers, etc. - and so I learned to be mean to everyone else; and the disgusting part of that when I was an alcoholic being openly shitty to all of my friends, I had the most success in life. People LIKE jerks; they find kindness a weakness and off-putting - they think it's fake.

You can manipulate generous, kind-hearted people only because they’re assuming you have good intentions, but that will never result in a meaningful bond or relationship.

Okay, Billy suffered abuse at his father’s hands and he wants love-but that doesn’t excuse that he in turn became an abusive POS.
The Billy wanting to be loved thing makes perfect sense when you think about how people tend to run away from the things they truly want out of fear of not being worthy of it.
I did interpret billy as someone who needs love in the show. Not necessarily a girlfriend but just people who can give him the support in his life that he is lacking. Especially the way he was so grateful to eleven after she showed him some compassion that he sacrificed himself to safe everyone.

Regarding Heather (and other Flayed Billy) victims being eaten by the Meat Muppet far earlier in the game than the show, isn't it happening in the Void?
I thought it was Billy's perception in the Void Space that *represents* the Mind Flayer "devouring" the *consciousness* of the victims he brings it. Even though their bodies were still walking around in the real world, their *minds* had already been irreversibly consumed.
That’s how I perceived it too! The Void is just a pocket dimension showcasing a more complex event happening in the form of every Flayed victims consciousness becoming part of the meat Flayer avatar body to become a collective Superorganism similar to the Upside down dimension. And before they became melted slop they acted as droned lackeys. So the void was a more abstract showcasing of their free will being taken by the Mind Flayer and them becoming part of its collective.
They should put this lore in the 5 season, not all the people will play or know fhe game and it explains so many things
They most likely will as well as the lore from The First Shadow. This game is obviously hard canon.

@@ParkerCS2Not everything I think. Henry not being in the coma right after trying to kill his family doesn't make sense. After all Jack Thorne participated and The Cursed Child wasn't that good so... Not surprised.
That is amazing! I hope we get to see some of this backstory in the final season. Would love see cameos of Dr. Brenner too since he is so crucial in filling up these gaps.
I think Will's flashbacks will be these in season 5
The whole Billy wanting love may seem like a stretch but I can understand why the played it that route. He was abandoned by his mother the only person in his small world at the time that loved him and cared for him. Throughout his whole life he’s probably hated his dad which makes sense so there’s no connection between the 2 of them. In s2 and 3 he’s abandoned by his “little sister” another woman who where he might not have shown his love for her he’s loved a lot. Sometimes people who are so badly hurt like to fall into a routine with people no matter how bad of a routine it is so his routine with Max constant back and forth and him being controlling to make sure she stayed with him is his routine. Her making friends with people her age AND people older than her like Steve isn’t apart of his routine they aren’t in his safe zone you could call it. Her defending them from him is her breaking out of the routine is her abandoning him. I feel like he finds people he can control and lets them get close cuz he believes that they won’t abandon him then they do and he loses it for a while till the next victim comes along and repeat. So he just desperately needs someone that’ll stay with him and that’s why he says stuff like “want to tie them up and put them in my trunk” plus he’s hot so it’s probably hard to find sincere people.
That's a heavy retcon, because it was inplied Henry made the Mind Flayer.
Either the Duffers changed their minds and listened to fan criticism, or weren’t explicitly clear what they were implying in S4 and it was always intended as the hive minded ruler of the upside down and Henry just joined its hive mind and team up with it to take over more worlds including earth. Either way, I’m fine with it because it keeps the mystery of the upside down as over-explaining kills horror, and cosmic horror is scarier because it can’t be explained. Plus, not all evil needs to come from humans, as Lovecraft horror entities and supernatural forces are just as terrifying for stories. Vecna wasn’t even that scary anyway and was just a whiny incel. The Mind Flayer is more scary imo and it just already existing is satisfying as it being influenced by Henry was just stupid. Not all horror monsters need to be created by evil humans. Same with Xenomorphs as them being created yesterday by an incel android is also retarded. Xenomorphs can’t just exist?! Xenomorphs can definitely exist without being created by humans, as like I said humans being always the evil behind all evil is just boring and stupid.

And i always liked the idea of MF being the big evil one and same with Xenomorphs but the idea of Engineers trying to use them as a chemical weapon is cool too
@@axelholweger9624 my theory is that the engineers didn’t fully created the Xenomorphs and instead just brought them back from extinction to use as a biological weapon. The black goo is like old fossilized dna of the Xenomorphs.
The Mind Flayer is totally a mirror of Darth Sidious and Henry aka Vecna is obviously Darth Vader and Eleven is definitely Luke Skywalker.

The Mindflayer and other creatures in Dimension X remind me of Gravemind and the various Flood forms in Halo. Which makes Eleven the equivalent of MC John-(11)7 in the ST universe, and Mike is the equivalent of Cortana. Just like El and Mike, the MC is the brawn and Cortana is the brains
immediately interprating Billy "wanting someone to love him" as just him wanting a girlfriend is absolutely the wrong interpration of what the game was showing
There's more love than just romantic love, like familial love. And I get that he talks about wanting to kidnap girls so they can be together and all that creepy stuff, but that's probably because he just wants someone to love him in ANY way and the only person who DID love him (that being his mother) left him. The guy is desperate for love from anyone who'll give it to him, but he's definitely focused on love from women. The only way he knows HOW to get love from women is to sleep with them.
So in cannon the mind flayor is using vecna and is essentially his conciseness so Dustin was right when he said vecna was his 5 star general
Exactly. The Duffers never intended for us to believe Vecna was the evil behind everything. He’s just an evil person who teamed up with a greater evil because it understands him unlike Eleven and didn’t reject him. It’s a Darth Vader and Darth Sidious dynamic basically

Such a stupid decision to just 180 the story after releasing an entire season heavily implying Vecna as the ‘big bad’ What a shame.
@@Louieelijah good thing the duffers retconned that in their canon side material such as The First Shadow and Stranger Things VR (2024) which have heavy lore which probably are going to be incorporated into the final season. So don’t worry they course corrected because they already set up The Mind Flayer as the big bad in the beginning and making it supposedly a creation of Vecna was stupid and ruins the scariness it had as it was an eldritch primordial being that couldn’t be explained and just existed. Either they course corrected or maybe weren’t clear what was happening in that flashback and decided to fix the mistake by establishing Vecna didn’t create the mind flayer it already existed as the hive minded intelligence of the other dimension and Vecna merely joined the hive mind as its herald and both have equal control over the Upside Down.

@@viciousLUA Kas, in DnD lore was Vecnas one time partner now turned arch enemy. He was a Vampire that welded a weapon called The Sword of Kas. The 2 ended up being trapped in a pocket dimension called Ravenloft where the were at constant war with each other.

The game makes me feel what we've learned in the play is truely official. It's alright but... Disappointing. I couldn't stay with Henry being sort of manipulated. I liked him wanting to get free and to start his own world (even though he did want to destroy the human world).

Is this game canon to the main story? Because if so, thats literally crazy. Will seeing vecna, the mind flayer existing before and manipulating henry, the idea that vecna might have made the upside down like hawkins and not will, all this stuff is somewhat contradictory but also quite interesting when paired with the show
This game’s lore along with The First Shadow probably is going to be incorporated into the final season. By the way, regarding will I think he might’ve thought Vecna was was just a different form of The Mind Flayer when he was possessed by it. Because The Mind Flayer and Vecna are two different entities but will didn’t really know what was going on, plus he kept losing memories so maybe Vecna made him not remember him interacting with him.
Also, The Mind Flayer totally makes since to already had existed as the upside down was established as a superorganism so therefore The Mind Flayer is basically the intelligence while everything else is drones and cells and energy. The Upside Down is basically one giant eldritch being. The Vines also were already sentinent moving by themselves and seemed to be independent, and they moved by themselves when the portal closed after Eleven banished Henry to the other dimension.

@@krpowe6663 I do agree with him being that desperate to get free he went too far, and he by his own accord did certain bad things. But also this Vr game showcases he still was human and wasn’t 100% a monster at first who wasn’t born evil and was just an outcast who eventually got too fed up that he snapped. And he became even more evil and worse once he got banished to the other dimension and teamed up with the mind flayer and connected to the hive mind.
OKAY so. This whole game actually plays really well into my personal theory about where the story is going in Season 5.
My personal theory, is that Eleven represents the Hand of Vecna, Will is the Eye of Vecna, and Max would be Kas.
Max is the only character who was killed but then resurrected, Kas was resurrected, and became Vecna's right hand man, but ended up betraying him, and was the reason he was defeated.
Vecna has 100% established connections to Max, El, and Will, but no body else in the party, directly at least.
The fact that this game REALLY focuses on Max, Will, and Eleven, really lends credit to this theory in my mind. I think that these are the characters who will die, maybe one more character, or maybe they will survive after fighting through their fears? But I genuinely think that these are the characters who will die in Season 5, and that these are the reasons why they are so important, and why so much focus is on them in Seasons 4 and soon 5.
You talked about The Stranger Things VR game like it was available for all VR headsets, yet I can only find the Meta 2 version which is for the Oculus Quest only. I only have a Oculus Rift S. I really wanted to check it out myself. *Cries in only having PCVR*

He probably got that memory erased by Vecna and The Mind Flayer, or he thought Vecna was just another form of The Flayer. But definitely the former. The Mind Flayer when it possessed him made him forget details. So it probably erased his encounter with its herald/5 star general Vecna. That’s probably the best explanation.
I hope that rumored anime Stranger Things: Tokyo actually is happening. Sounds cool!

No. The Mind Flayer already existed as the hive minded essence of the upside down and merely took the form of shadow Brenner to easily communicate with its new ally Henry. The Mind Flayer and The Upside Down are a giant Superorganism and it’s basically the intelligence while the fauna creatures and energies throughout are like little cells and stuff you see in a body. The Demogorgons Demodogs and Demobats are clearly like drones from an ant colony or bee hive that serve leaders like queens or whatever, which The Mind Flayer is technically the queen/king/heart/brain/battery power of the parallel dimension. It’s something beyond comprehension just like anything from Lovecraft horror.

Either it is a manifestation or the negative emotions of the test subjects or it's the power source from which they pull their power, like cyclops in the X-Men pulling all of his energy for his optic blasts from another dimension
