      Nadia De Simone
      Did I imply you said Lisa was bad at playing, no, so I don’t know where you got that from. I prefer Lisa for the exact same reasons so fair.

      Nadia De Simone really, though, Kavakos I think had a flu when he played Sibelius on that recording.

      Callum Ewen Yea totally agreed. She played with better interpretation, articulation, precision and emotion. I always think that female violinist like Lisa and Sarah are way better than many top tier male violinists. Just personal feelings, not expecting any unnecessary dispute. Peace out.

    I see a few referencing her play at 1:49, would someone please enlighten me why it's so great? I fail to see why the harmonic, especially when a similar phrase was played without the harmonics a few seconds before it...contrasting for the sake of contrasting? Not to mention she glided over most of the notes before the harmonics. I'm certainly no professional, and I hope to learn from you all. Until then I must say I'm not impressed by that in comparison to how it was executed in other performances.

  • @Itapirkanmaa2

    She is another victim of misjustice in the Sibelius competition. She was better already in 1995 when she was just 16, but the jury favoured a Finnish mediocre (from a well-know Finnish musical family though) called Pekka Kuusisto.

    • @Itapirkanmaa2
      @Itapirkanmaa2 6 лет назад +2

      The why is Pekka Kuusisto never playing Sibelius (or anything) with the Berliner Philharmoniker is he'so darn excellent?

    • @Itapirkanmaa2
      @Itapirkanmaa2 6 лет назад +1

      My point is Kuusisto was and is a mediocrity and Batiahsvili, a far more skilful musician then and now, was wrongfully placed 2nd. The exact same pattern went on with the disaster that was the in 2015 competition winner.

    • @Itapirkanmaa2
      @Itapirkanmaa2 6 лет назад +2

      Batiashvili is in top 20 or so in the world, Kuusisto in top 2000 or so.
      She records for the major labels and plays with the major orchestras, he does not. I really need say no more.

    • @Itapirkanmaa2
      @Itapirkanmaa2 6 лет назад +1

      People who consistently play better than the competition and get the likes as it were, will get the chance to play with the best orchestras and will record for the biggest labels. That is just the way system works, and I'm not responsible for it. Most violinists, even rather good ones, will remain mediocre in the competitive crowd.

    • @Itapirkanmaa2
      @Itapirkanmaa2 6 лет назад +1

      That's is a non-argument. Each violinist will play a piece in their own way.
      However, it was felt already in 1995 that for being a better violinist, Batiashvili should have won, by many in Finland. In hindsight, that turned out to be correct, her career skyrocketed, his did not.
      My critique is targeted at the jury apparently making their decision to boost someone's career based on other than the musical criteria only.
      The worst example and the proof of this was the winning of the disaster called Christel Lee over Emmanuel Tjeknavorian (who incidentally also is now a major label recorder) in the Sibelius competition 2015.
