Presonus sounded clearer because of neutralish-brigter sound sig(prob. better for mixing); bass is faster and controlled; imaging is a bit better. Edifier bass is boomy and a bit loose , muffled behind the curtain sound, darker sound sig (better for just watching movies, entertainment). the thing with Edifier speakers is the poor quality control, often you loose sound of one of the either speakers because of bad quality wires, resoldering can temporarily fix it and will reoccur. Presonus would be the better choice IMO. i stay out of edifier because of its poor inconsistent quality control.
This is the reason I am buying Presonus. Quality of the materials seems better in Presonus. I also prefer the normal power switch, that MR4's long press to shut down is pain. I can get Presonus from the local store and MR4 i should order from Amazon. So many mixed reviews about these speakers, so I don't trust them and also Amazon quality varies a lot. Much less risky to get them from a local store and return them if they are not working properly. Presonus also has bluetooth option for little bit more money. I am buying these as desktop speakers and if I get annoyed of them, I can use them elsewhere because of bluetooth. At first I thought I don't need bluetooth, but actually that is a big plus when I am rethinking it. Although, I cannot say that MR4 wouldn't sound better in this video. The sound is more colorful, but at some parts I preferred Presonus. I was looking for MR4, because it was available in white color, which would be great for my setup. Then I read some Amazon reviews and someone pointed out that front of the monitor is different material and different white than sides of the speaker. That is not a good thing to begin with and discoloration is probably becoming stronger with age, because sides looked like ones which may become more yellow over time. That will be one ugly speaker. Comparing looks of this black MR4 to Presonus, I highly prefer Presonus. It has little blue details, which makes it look more unique and expensive compared to MR4.
Have you listened to both in person? I just bought the MR4s and agree they are probably better for (and intended for) multimedia and music listening rather then as a pure studio setup - on a flat EQ with the bass/treble dials in the middle they sounds a little muddy and not all that bright. However with very minimal adjustment in EQ I'm blown away with the imaging, depth and sound quality possible on them, at least for near field listening (which probably goes for the Eris' too) and they seem to be capable of reaching down nicely for a 4" driver (they supposedly have a 60hz cutoff but if I boost the eq at 30hz or even 20hz there is almost a hint of sub-bass.
I think this channel reads our minds, today I discovered these new Edifier and I was wondering how they would sound. Where can you hear a comparison? neither more nor less than in this wonderfully useful channel. Thanks for all the effort. Much appreciated. I am surprised by the MR4, as monitors they are quite flat, although they sound a bit boxy. I understand that they have a function like normal speakers, being able to alternate between the two. That idea of being able to change the type of transduction is fantastic. I think that at the performance / flexibility / price level, the MR4 are clear winners.
I don't know MSRP of MR4 bu twhere i live right now i can find them a bit cheaper than Eris 3.5. But MR4 sounds much better to me. I have monitors at least a class better than those, but a friend of mine looking for a nice setup 2.0 for a small room on tight budget. And i guess i have a winner.
"Where can you hear a comparison?" The problem with this statement, is that you're most like listening/analyzing through either, moderate to excellent headphones, and/or moderate to external excellent monitors. Every sound engineer will always "finalize" a master recording done through the most "sub-mediocre" audio system to get the full intensity of what the defects and shortcoming "mean or average" audio quality may be achieved. This is what's called the real world. Here there is a very "clear" difference, the graph speaks for itself. There's no acute shelving anywhere, but the Eris is more balanced. If you like more boom in your Mozart kettle drum, go with the MR4, if you like Geroge Lynch, Eris.
The Edifier's definitely sound clearer and deeper, overall sound quality is just almost great. The presonus sound a bit hollow, its lacking that kick of bass in every music tested.
Having e3.5... Thay sound very harsh on video, but in reality it's not that bad at all. They're decent enough at telling you about problems in upper mids and highs. Not in lows, but what you want from that size... however mid-bass is plesantly tight. So, trying translating what I'm hearing here... seems that edifiers are very muddy and not really a monitors by any means.
The MR4 sounds "muddy" in comparison because it has frequencies in the 200Hz - 1kHz range and high highs that's pretty much missing with the Eris 3.5. I have the Eris 4.5 as secondary monitors because it has similar problems and my mixes translate poorly as a result. It's good for multimedia listening but not for real production work. Upgraded to Genelec 8040As as my main monitors and I immediately realized how much I was missing with the Eris 4.5. PreSonus' real professional monitors starts from Eris E5 and above, I think they'd be great value monitors.
I'm not really into mixing and recording. But am looking for good and clear speakers, as I listen to jazz music and play guitar, I need something clear so I can learn songs by ear. I will also sometimes record guitar and need the speakers to listen to my recordings. Nothin professional. Whats your opinion on that? And the lack o bass? Thanks!

I will write you something about these edifier mr4 monitors, I previously bought Behringer b3030a monitors which cost much more money and they were so bad that you could not listen to music at all On them, however, I have recently got Edifier mr4 And these speakers are much better, first of all I finally have a good stereo base, while Behringer had none at all and had strange high frequencies , Everything in the Behringer b3030a was so fucked up that it was impossible to listen to any music recorded on them in the studio , It was only when I sold them and now I have an Edifier MR4 that I know it is alive because the cheapest audio set Blaupunkt MS12BT for 120 USD had much better speakers than this Behringer b3030a ,I don't know how to say this, but on the Behringer b3030, even though it has Kevlar speakers and ribbon tweeters, it was impossible to listen to music, especially Vocals recorded and mixed on these speakers, everything that was mixed on these speakers by me went to the trash , Because the mixes were completely wrong, the room characteristic switches didn't help. I finally had to get rid of them so that I would never see or hear that Behringer b3030a again, I finally bought the Edifier mr4 and I am impressed with these speakers, even though they cost several times less money, you can finally listen to recordings mixed on them ,As for the Behringer company, I advise everyone to avoid it.
Great comparison :). Im standing on choosing between MR4, E4.5, CR4/5 and tbh I don't know what to choose (unless there is a better set of monitors that I didn't hear yet). Im waiting for more comparisons in the future.
@@postmortemritual Hey, thanks for recommendation. I was thinking about E5 but sadly the space is my issue. E4.5 is already touching the limit of how big of a monitor I can buy, sadly. Tbh I would need need more good multimedia speakers than monitors....I though that monitors is the way to go 'cuz I was thinking about creating some "home made" music and if it wouldn't work out I would be left with at least decent speakers. I would definitely choose MR4 of the two, it's just more pleasant to listen to. The Presonus' mid-high emphasis is very annoying and unnatural, although you might get used to it quickly and not even notice it because there's nothing to compare it to. In any case, I avoid such a high-pitched sound because it is very tiring. Very cool channel!

Man, the Edifier sounds scooped in the middle...yes, Presonus lacks bass but a subwoofer fixes that and there's more clarity. You can't easily fix the lack of mids in most Edifiers...
I just bought MR4s and I think they are tuned more to music listeners than as monitors, however they are still plenty responsive in the mid-range with some minimal tweaking - they sound warm and alive with a decibal or 2 extra at 300hz and 1000hz. I was not expecting them to sound so nice in the middle (after eq'ing them a little).
Presonus has grittier bass but it seems edifier has more thump but less definition. Edifier seems like there's a veil over the higher frequencies too. But the presonus seems to have no life with the jazz voices.
The edifiers sound amore coloured than the presonus so people here seem to think that's better but for mixing less colour equals more accurate translation. Am I wrong?
Hi, bro. After testing my new Edifier MR4, I hear a very slight noise that comes only from the tweeters of each speaker, it is like white noise or interference and it increases when the volume of the monitors is turned up. The sound does not come from the other connected devices, since the noise is heard even when I only have the monitors connected, without plugging anything else. I have also tried it with several current outlets and the sound persists. My question is, is this noise normal? For what is this? Is it normal or the one I have was faulty? THANK YOU
I've read some owners of MR4s are hearing the same "self-noise". It seems to be normal for these speakers. Presonus is better at this (I own a pair, no noise at all), but they have other cons as shown here and in other reviews.
@@MackoyStudio i would get the MR4. I think they are pretty tough to beat at their pricepoint, and even a little more. Im in a tough spot, since i already own the s350db, but those arent studio monitors. Between the MR4 and the presonus, to me its pretty clear that the edifiers sound better. (the whites looks awesome). But as always, trust your ears.
I bought some MR4s for black friday deals, finally got a chance yesterday to put them through their paces, wow I am really impressed with them. I've never heard the PreSonus Eris 3.5 so can't compare, but the MR4s are much better than I was expecting. Paired with a decent software EQ it's incredible how they respond across their dynamic range, so much detail in the mids, i struggle a little to get the high end sounding balanced without too much and then fatiguing my ears a little and the bass doesn't hit hard below 30hz, but I threw all different EQ profiles at them and they just do exactly what they need to. i should mention I'm only using them at a workstation and I'm using them for multimedia not sound mixing, and as they are intended for sort of near-field I don't imagine you could fill a room nicely with them, however sitting at my desk with some Norah Jones and it sounds like she's right in front of me live.
May i ask you which is better in mixing/monitoring vocals and creating music between these two? I'm planning to buy a budget flat sounding monitor.Thank you in advance
Just pass by passenger here....I will opt for Presonus for mixing or creativity work because it is made for studio, Edifier have to keep music in style so they are not as focus on monitor as Presonus does.
^^+1 for Presonus as it has neutral- brighter sound sig (most professional studio mixing monitors have brighter sound sig idk why), imaging is also better in presonus.
These Edifiers are excellent in terms of sound... Unfortunately, they have a little bit of a connection, but for the price, it's something that can be overlooked. Would it be possible to make a comparison between the Presonus E4.5 vs Edifier MR4 vs Micca PB42X? Not necessarily with all three at the same time.
I agree, i just purchased them, looked at so many options and for some reason I thought these had their own DAC and a USB connection. Every other speaker I've used on the 3.5mm jack on my workstation just never sounded as nice as when they run on usb and do their own conversion, however these MR4s sound amazing even on the 3.5mm output. I have an audio interface at my other place and when i get around to bringing it back home i intend to try out the balanced inputs, I suspect will sound even cleaner if possible
The PreSonus has more defined frequencies to my ears. The Edifier, despite the poorer quality, has a muddy sound with more bass but not necessarily great low-end tones. I’d go with the PreSonus for sure.

Edifier MR4 sounds fuller & less harsh
Having heard the Presonus Eris E3.5 live I would NOT recommend them to anyone, really bad sounding with no balance plus they have zero low end.

쿵쿵 울리는거 좋아하시는분이거나 집안에 울려도 층간소음 걱정없는분들은
mr4가 때리는맛이 있기때문에 좋으실거 같네요
Yes, e3.5 is much more clean.
The edifiers sound amore coloured than the presonus so people here seem to think that's better but for mixing less colour equals more accurate translation. Am I wrong?
And yet, Eris models have problems with coloration too. Maybe besides E5 and higher.
Would any of these two good for karaoke?
Would anyone know how these presonus' perform as a soundbar alternative for watching TV?
soundbars are about convenience in their form factor, they almost never represent good value in compact speakers versus non-soundbars.
Monitor mode vs music mode of edifier mr4?
Both monitor mode
THANK YOU
Gee, you win the jackpot.
@@justinking5964 ??????
I've read some owners of MR4s are hearing the same "self-noise". It seems to be normal for these speakers. Presonus is better at this (I own a pair, no noise at all), but they have other cons as shown here and in other reviews.
Are you using the RCA connection?
Im waiting for "Vault C6 vs Presonus E4.5"
Pioneer DM-50d vs VM 50 maybe?
Hi, which would you recommend just to listen music?
Mr4
Would like to see these against KEF LS50s
The Kef speakers (€1500,-) will blow these €100,- speakers out of the water.
Excellent
Wow, Thank you so much!!😊
Cant believe the timing of this video for me ^_^
Same, choosing between these 2. What would you get?
@@MackoyStudio i would get the MR4. I think they are pretty tough to beat at their pricepoint, and even a little more.
Im in a tough spot, since i already own the s350db, but those arent studio monitors.
Between the MR4 and the presonus, to me its pretty clear that the edifiers sound better. (the whites looks awesome). But as always, trust your ears.
@@santiagoberto7178 thanks man.
@@MackoyStudio no problem. Hey, if you get them, please share your experience
@@santiagoberto7178 i have two choice now, used e3.4 for half price, an mr4 new set, i can buy both, so which one do you recommend?
is it possible to compare the presonus eris e4 & the edifier mr4?
E4.5 vs MR4 is coming
@@DSAUDIOreview ohh, I mean e4.5 hahha.. Well I'm excited for that!😌
Micca rb 42 pls 🙏
Presonus sounded better to me
I bought some MR4s for black friday deals, finally got a chance yesterday to put them through their paces, wow I am really impressed with them.
I had my eyes on the PreSonus for a long time, but then I found out about these Edifier, that are cheaper here where I live. Still can't decide.
MR4 is clearly the winner here.
more bass the better.. go for mr4
MR4 sounding a litle nasal in the last track??
yes i have the mr4 here .... and they miss something between 1kHz and 5kHz ....
Can always EQ.
Presonus has clear and punchy sound good for instrumental music ..
Might as well get KEF LS50s.
presonus win
Maybe MR4 w DSP, Eris w/o? MR4 has very flat frequency response
The PreSonus has more defined frequencies to my ears. The Edifier, despite the poorer quality, has a muddy sound with more bass but not necessarily great low-end tones. I’d go with the PreSonus for sure.
i want to upgrade my old dell ax210 to Presonus 3.5 do you recommend it?
Я полностью согласен с вами, почему другие не слышат этого
MR4 1 dollar I will pay
presonus win e3.5 has good resoultion in high mid
copium
They both sound pretty bad.
