The cast included many American World War II veterans including Lee Marvin, Robert Webber and Robert Ryan (U.S. Marine Corps); Telly Savalas and George Kennedy (U.S. Army); Charles Bronson (U.S. Army Air Forces); Ernest Borgnine (U.S. Navy); and Robert Jaeckl and Clint Walker (U.S. Merchant Marine).

Hollywood during this era was full of real life tough guys, and this cast had a bunch of them. Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson were both tough as nails.
Lee Marvin was shot through the sciatic nerve in battle and spent 14 months relearning to walk. Imagine some recruit telling him he doesn't want to march.
When Dick Cavett asked him where he got shot, Lee paused, lit up a cigarette with a match, then bluntly said, "I got shot in the ass." Ah, the 70s. 🫡 You can find the video on here.
Discipline, or lack there of to be exact, is the root of the problem in this country! It’s ok to question things. Just do it from a place of respect and humility! And when the Sargent says to march…then by all means…march! 😎
Hollywood makes badass men. But every once in awhile Badass men make Hollywood. Then came LEE MARVIN. And a few others, Like Charles, you can see him grinning. He knew what was coming next. Hierarchy of the greatest generation
The Dirty Dozen was a movie about a bunch of military misfits who were trained to do one job. It was a movie about all of us. It is a living, breathing testament to the greatness of America. It will always be popular.
Amazing film, my favorite. Amazing cast: WWII heroes (Richard Jaeckel was underage and lied to enlist), a football icon, Hollywood renegades, a guy who was pronounced dead but later unexpectedly recovered - one amazing background story after another. Great film.
Thank you for the comments ... the mother's milk I was nourished with taught me to serve others before myself ... the character of individuals is important. Some of these guys were in the Army Air Corp during WW2 … Air Corp was part of the U.S. Army , after the big One , the Air Corp became a separate Entity , the US Air Force … My Dad served in the AAC …. This is one of the best WW2 Movies
Think all except Jim and Donald served? Great movie. Always watched on A Saturday or a War Movie week on local TV CHANNELS? WORE OUT my VHS COPIES and loaned to soldin my unit? Loved it. Slipped on a bar of soap huh?
This is the military that straightened out tens of thousands of boys going down the wrong path in life. This Major is the father figure that that #11 has needed all his life.

@@aimaction7393 Thanks but I just copied and pasted 🫡
Thank you for the history. Greatly appreciated
Nice work but slight correction. It’s Richard Jaeckel.
Telly Savalas was also a United Nations Security Officer in NY!
Real WWII heros made this movie one for the ages. I think they are all passed on now. RIP Heros.
Yep, I think big Jimmy Brown was the last man standing. Might be wrong.
Donald Sutherland is in his late 80s is still alive. The last one left from the cast.
They've all been gone a long time now. Donald Sutherland is still living if I'm not mistaken. He's in his 80s now. Great movie with a great cast.👍
Back when most men were men!
Lee Marvin and Bronson were both WW2 heros
Yes they were.
Both had been shot. CB shot b4 WW2.
Lee and Charles received Purple Hearts! Lee is buried on Arlington National Cemetery! John Caasavetes died way too early!
Yes not like wayne
Their movie acting has more gravitas knowing their bona fide heroes
Superb movie.
Lee Marvin, John Cassavetes and Telly Savalas were spectacular! 👍🙂
All of these guys were great actors. I enjoyed their work during their lifetimes. An all star cast here.
I cooked for one of the dirty dozen... Posey (Clint Walker). He was very old, but still a very large man.
Was he in Rosemary's baby
Telly was pure wood, other two were excellent.
Lee Marvin was the real deal war hero.
Charles Bronson too
And the real deal tough guy, too.
But not in a bad way. You were just better off not trying him on for size.
@@monicawarren3678 Bronson & Marvin nearly got into a serious fight because Marvin was drunk and didn't know his lines. Bronson didn't like to talk about it.
While I like Lee Marvin -- He drank real whiskey in most of his roles----
When they are cool and calm is when you have to worry. I believe that Lee Marvin had to be a badass. I loved his movies
Watched part of this film being shot when I was a school kid in Hertfordshire UK and briefly sat in a jeep with Lee Marvin during a break in filming.
Now that is really cool!
You sat in a jeep with Lee Marvin?wow now THATS a great memory
Wow
Lee Marvin was a badass’s badass. He is sorely missed.
Marvin and Bronson war heroes. Thank you, gentlemen, for your services and the great acting afterward .
Bronson Was An Officer In WW2 Epic, "Battle of The Bulge."
Great classic movie, with great men!
2 men I worship as a young man. Tough men. MR. MARVIN AND MR. BRONSON.
“You take his head. I’ll take his feet. They don’t have to arrive at the same time…”
One of the greatest movies ever!!!
Lots and lots of talent in this classic movie.
My favorite movie. I just stumbled across John Cassavetes grave stone at the famous Westwood park memorial cemetery. I was honestly Star struck.
Semper Fidelis. Always Faithful. Thank you for your service and great movies.
Lee Marvin was a Marine sniper in the pacific theater during the war.
Lee Marvin was so cool and the real deal ! Glad I was named after him - an honor
This is one of my all-time favorite movies!
Holy s*** I got a pain, I must have watch that 12 times😂 and 😂😂😂❤ that old schooll Chicago kick to the face😮😮😂😂

When men were men and doing manly stuffs. Bunch of guys going through the mission and having fun squabbling with the other unit.
One of the all time best scenes with a group of legendary actors ! Simply spectacular!
You got Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson two of the biggest badass that ever stepped into Hollywood. Real life bad asses
Lee Marvin, a true tough guy
One of my favorite movies Marvin and Bronson rock
Don’t you wish we had politicians and leaders like Lee Marvin?
Telling that to an actual Marine Corp Sniper. He brought his military service to this movie.

This is one of the best movies. Great cast.
Greatest generation.
Lee Marvin fought at Iwo Jima. There are no more actors like him.
Saipan not Iwo
No, Marvin wasnt at Iwo, he was already invalided out
Yes, Lee Marvin fought on Saipan and Tinian in the 4th Marine Division---
As a movie war hero,John Wayne is supreme
I think he was injured at saipan.
GREAT OLD MOVIE

Lee Marvin was a true ww11 hero.
Great movie, everyone should see this.
Also Don't Forget "The Big Red One."
I just watch this today. Great movie.
Lee Marvin played a bad ass, because he was a bad ass
I was 10 when my parents took me to see this movie on release, best history lesson ever!😂
Superb classic fantastic film with outstanding cast . A gem 💎 indeed .
This was my father's favorite movie. Whenever it came on TV, that's what we were watching! Usually twice a year in the 60/ 70s
Didn't have to march. He won that argument.
And he wasn't lying either, he definitely had a pain when they carried him back to his cell!
I gotta love me some Lee Marvin...❤
It's a great movie by a collection of class acts. Thanks for serving boys.
Damn good movie 👍
One of the greatest movies of my time😂😂
The dirty dozen was a great movie with great actors and men that really knew what war was.
Great movie 🎬 Lee Marvin @!
Its sad that most of these fine actors are no longer with us. Hollywood doesn't have this caliber of men anymore. Great movie.
Great movie starring two WW2 heroes, Bronson and Marvin.👏🏻👏🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸💕

“Dirty Dozen” one of my favorite movies growing up .
I like how the Major was soft-spoken and almost gentle in his speech...at first!
Lots of WWII Heros in this movie. One of my favorites from the time period when movies were much more entertaining.
Amazing film, my favorite. Amazing cast: WWII heroes (Richard Jaeckel was underage and lied to enlist), a football icon, Hollywood renegades, a guy who was pronounced dead but later unexpectedly recovered - one amazing background story after another. Great film.
Another time ... real men ... not like the stressed out goofies of the "I'm entitled" generation
Yeah your generation really is shitty
Real men that were completely freaked out when a black family showed up at the public swimming pool.
Speak for yourself, dweeb

Saw this at a drive-in when I was a kid. Great movie. A collection of some of the best actors. Only one missing is the my fave bad guy, Lee Van Cleef.

Great freaking movie just like Kelly’s heroes you just can’t get better add to that mix the longest day🥰
When officers didn't have to play footsies with recruits!

Maybe the 'P' on his back means something? Hmmm?
they aren't recruits dipshit, they're convicts. in military prison, hence why the Major is calling him 'prisoner', and not 'soldier' or his rank.
Such a great movie. One of my favorites.

John Cassavetes was an under appreciated actor. It was a literally a film of Who's who in Hollywood.
Two real WW2 war heros... RIP Mr. Marvin and Mr. Bronson.
Charlie gives his smile of approval 😅
Victor R Franko receiving an attitude adjustment from Maj. Reisman. 😂
Almost made it out. He was the last to die.
