You should get your pilot licence anyone can do it. I was told since I was a kid I would never be able to be a pilot by family, friends and teachers. But now I have it. As a Evo X MR owner, 10 plate clutch SST rebuild/upgrade $8k, drive the car in s-sport to prvevent slipping now to avoid rebuild. avoid launching the car, this causes serious clutch wear on stock clutches. AYC/ACD pump rebuld $150 diy or more at a shop, if it's completely dead $2.5k to replace (second hand (ebay)) if you see a triangle with giant exclamation mark on the dash, turn it off immediately and call a tow truck - timing chain stretched. cable tie the small pipe down by the PCV pipe, it has no clamp from factory, it can come off with boost, then you'll over boost. this is only the major things to worry about.
get a leak down compression and boroscope check have a look at the brake callipers to make sure they are red they will turn brown after lots of heat during track use
Get a evo x MR with BBS wheels from factory and a Fosgate sterio and sub wolfer in boot+ leather seats (recaro) all factory but in year 2012 and up becausethey fixed all issues before, cost 45 to 50 k with 110.000 km. Before you buy do your research man, these SST evo's can become a money pit when they play up. Also, paying anything over 27k for a stock SST is a big rip off, seen a few modified ones with upgraded gearbox parts and bolt ons struggle to sell for mid to low 30's.

Before the mods begin, get all the service items done, i.e. the fluids dumped (including sst / driveline), old ass brake fluid, flush it, filters, plugs etc etc. Strongly suggest Meek automotive seven hills. Keep it solid and reliable first before the mods IMO P.s. i think intercooler piping upgraded too from quick glance
As a mechanic myself an evo is probably better for a not so serious car guy as it’s easier and cheaper to modify but as a guy who doesn’t care about reliability I’ll take the Subaru wrx every day cos nothing sounds or handles as good as a Subaru

As a fellow Evo owner they are quick if you modify them right, your only limited by that gearbox but strengthening them and you should be able to push over 400hp, they eat up a lot of cars at the race track
