The issue with the iPhone in passenger seat causing the seatbelt light to go off is not the weight but the signal it let's out. It interferes with the internal electronics. I have tested this time and again with mine. Put a heavier bag on that passenger seat and you will not have that issue.
My mini cooper does that too, I always thought it was the weight. However placing my handbag on the seat does not cause the alert to come on, but placing the phone on the seat directly does.
Took delivery of the 530e in early September. The car has exceeded our expectations, it's the 2019 model with a few neat upgrades. I was a little anxious about the digital cluster but wow, it's fantastic. Crisp clear display with driver display for navigation and control. Overall finish is premium BMW . Driving please is an understatement. Sleek smooth and powerful. Easily satifies many driving requirements. Range is average, mid twenties in fair weather and fuel mpg is surprisingly good. 47mpg at motorway speeds, excess of 74mpg combined. I specified the sunroof, parking assist and poplar trim with the black alloys. Looks stunning and the white interior coupled with the sunroof makes the cabin airey, bright and more spacious feeling. I drive a van all week and look forward to driving it st the weekends.. I know, geeky.
@@merseycourier4948 what are the upgrades in the 2019 version? Also, I've been reading some reviews about owners complaining that the battery doesn't give the mpg bmw claims (like more like 5-10 mpg) and in winter for some it doesn't give any at all!
Mokh7777 Car gains full digital dash /clocks. Loses electronic boot close and chrome door handle inserts. BMW claim a combined 147mpg, nonsense . Winter months retain some charge for heating and driving aids, typically a full charge giving 18 miles of range, summer expect mid to late twenties. I drove a 91 mile round tip at 2.20am this morning, range was 18 electric, 117 fuel. Drove sensibly at 65 to 70 on cruise control whilst switching between battery save and max ev when depleted or recharged up to 10 or 12 miles of range etc.. Parked back on the driveway with fuel range 88 and EV 4 miles. Returned a constant 65.4mog in eco pro on fuel but overall the journeys combined was nearer 80mpg. That’s fantastic in my opinion, full charge takes upto 3.5 hrs and costs us 29p on out tariff. Add to this the driving experience a hybrid offers, power, silence etc.. Two major hates though, no android auto and a £323 option to fold the rear seats down.. BM bloody W lol..
I bought this year a 2019 530e and here is the problem I have with it: whenever I change gears from R to D and vice versa there is a 2-3 second delay until the gearbox makes the transition. Is that normal?
I’m sold on converting from Mercedes C350e to BMW 530e coming 4th January 2019. My only concern is the battery range. In the UK it clearly states 29 mile range in all the literature where as you quoted 20 mile range, that’s far short of my expectations.
Guilherme Fernandes yes, its not necessary to plug-in the car, it's simply enough to run in some kinda "eco" mode, the consume will be 3 l in 100km, because running on gas, is recharging the batteries in the same time, and also using them
full disclosure: i have a 2016 bmw 320i. i have the same problem with the front passenger seat sensor sensing my android "passenger". i did notice that if i slide my phone all the way against the seatback the sensor isn't activated. BMW should have definitely set the sensor to go off only when it senses a weight normally associated wit ha human, not 12oz
Dumb comment. It's en extra 500lbs. That's like have 3 extra people in the car. How often do you move around 4 people? Are you saying the 530i would have issues moving 5 people over 80k miles?
20 miles on a full battery is really not worth it... It might be if you're using the car just to do some shopping and driving around town, but if you're doing 2000 - 2500 miles a month - like me - it's really not worth it. I can't believe they can't develop better batteries. Well... I actually think they can, but they're not doing it because taxes on fuel are still a very important source of income for governments. Imagine the loss of income if we all would replace our 'regular' cars with electric ones...
Mario i mean I think it’s kind of worth it as the hybrid is actually cheaper and the performance is identical. Except if you need the extra boot space but most people don’t fill up their boot that often anyways

“Plug in electric” “Level two charger” Girl, I appreciate the review but the accuracy can be improved. For several takes-like when showing the gas tank cover-you clearly had never operated it before. Turbo review recording.
Yeah the Level 2 mistake was a bad one. As for the gas tank we have a new car every week (sometimes 2) it can be challenging to recall how they all open.
blitzbbffl 0-60 in Full Electric mode is approximately 11.00 seconds however full Edrive is purely about economy and comfort. It moves and performs more than adequately with the added bonus of a max speed of 87mph. The Electric motor provides a fantastic torque boost in conjunction with the engine. 0-60 easily 6.0 seconds despite manufacturers figures. We have the 330e nearly two years and i know the car inside out and can manage amazing mpg. We're that impressed with the 330e we've factory ordered a 530e M Sport. Ok a Phev is not for everyone but certainly fits with our lifestyle and requirements. The power boost and opulent silence alone is worth it but we use little or no fuel on a daily commute of nearly 20 miles on a single 3.5 hr charge costing 29.9p inc vat on our electricity tariff. Longer journeys are cost effective too by switching between electric and combustion ie charging in motion. I regularly do a 105 mile round trip and burn £6 in fuel. Thats incredible considering its a 2litre auto at motorway speeds. The car is fantastic to drive and extremely quick knocking spots of many a hot hatch and equivalent sedans or saloons here in the UK. A truly versatile and economical vehicle.
