These were the coolest looking Baja trucks of any I've seen. I like a crew cab one but this is amazing. My 2012 Frontier is a head turner and I'm still doing a few addons when I can and have a few more sections to do on the project checklist.

Your window logo is a bit confusing. It looks like 'AAA' instead of 'MA'. Btw, the Fronty looks bad ass even though I'm not into "desert running". I want to buy a Frontier and drop in the 2.8L Cummins engine paired with a ZF-8 transmission that Nissan had teased us with a few years back on the TFLnow channel.

We are going to modify our shop Frontier and it will be pretty sweet but sadly not gonna take it this far.

Id love to say soon but we know that's not going to happen. We are looking forward to seeing what the 2020 Frontier ends up bringing to the table though. Its been a long time coming...

yeah! big torque real early with what is rather small framed turbo for that size engine.

Overall, I like the truck. However, that hood vent looks like it came off someone's trailer house A/C. You should think about putting a box cover over the battery. What's with the hole on the D/S front fender?
I'd love to do something like this in the UK and get rid of that useless YD25 engine..

It would nice to see this run out in the Mojave Desert here in The Golden State. I've always been a fan of the Frontier and own a Pro4X, but just use it for Jeep trails in SoCal and Northern Arizona. This thing however looks like an absolute beast ready to take it's aggression out on some poor unsuspecting Raptor. No offense to the Raptor though because I would love to own one.

Do you think there’s a market for an “off the shelf” 5.6 swap “kit” for the Frontier?
Like, for example, you guys would offer a package - I could bring you my Frontier and you’d swap in a 5.6?
We can perform the swap now. Its all fairly straight forward so the swap kit itself would not have that much added to other than some exhaust connections and the wiring harness service really.

You sir are wonderful. I’m a Toyota owner and I would buy a Frontier in a nano second and tweak and modify as your outstanding example. As well as buying a used Frontier King Cab my 16 Tacoma may someday be modified to have its own character. Thankyou for being my inspiration sir.

What kind of differential did you use? And if that driveshaft is custom made, what would be the next best thing on the market?
The differential is an ARB air locker. The drive shaft is a modified OEM unit by The DriveShaft Shop in NC, USA.

@@MAMotorsports Nissan needs to use your design/modifications on a special off road/desert model. Love the V-8 upgrade would love to see at least than in the 2021 Frontier.

Why.. why would they put a manual in a prerunner.. other then that it’s super clean and nice work.. couple things you can tell these guys are car guys and not off road guys.. lol what ever happen to this truck? Did someone buy it? Does someone use it??
Thanks! Nissan wanted it to be a manual, so we made it a manual. The idea of a manually shifted turbocharged (also uncommon in prerunners) engine swapped long travel truck that you could also drive on the street was what they had in mind. As far as we know its still in the hands of someone at NISMO USA and just sits around sadly.

Why didn't the truck get a full cage? Knowing Nissan it was a quick deadline
they didn't want a cage in it as originally it was supposed to be a street/ off road truck but we kinda got crazy with it and the only thing its lacking now is.... a cage. The way the timeline worked out though we would not have been able to do a full cage too though that's for sure.

Got a question, can't seem to find an answer anywhere. Will any of the vq56de aftermarket parts (cams, pistons, valve springs, etc) fit the direct injection vq56vd motor?
I would think some would cross over but id contact Jim Wolf Technology on that.

I have this exact model. 2018 frontier king cab. I want to retrofit a V8 But I want it to look completely the same like a sleeper.

Curious as to why all this insane work was done but no cage
flatblackandy the client just didn’t want a roll cage in it. The idea was that we were going do a phase 2 with the truck that would include a full cage, fire suppression and other safety features and upgrades.

Do you have bucket seats in your frontier already? We custom made those particular ones.

Front suspension looks like it’s severely limited on downtravel from the looks of the limit straps.
It is not. They are mounted very inboard so it gives that illusion.

Yes typically they are. Modern trophy trucks use AWD systems now also though.

Easy swap actually. Driven Desire in Cincinnati does these swaps all the time. I just got a stock VK56 swapped into my 4x4 xterra. It's easy on second gens, not first gens
Not ton of up travel in the rear if tbe tires don't tuck into the fenders.
We trimmed the rear fenders so that the tires could still tuck. I don't recall the numbers on the rear bump but it was right on with hitting the bump stop just before the axle hit the frame.
@@MAMotorsports Awsome. Good to know the travel wasn't sacrificed for the sake of stance. It is an awsome looking truck.
@@sam_s_ Thanks. Originally we had a narrower axle for it that would allow the wheels to tuck under the bedsides but that was actually limiting articulation due to spring hitting the tire. WE tried and really wanted to keep the inner OEM bed look also so had this compromise.
