- In this video, I experiment with various metallic paint brands on the gel plate to determine which ones offer the most effective print coverage. I test paints from Golden, Liquitex Basics, and Sargent Art. Additionally, I provide insight into the process of utilizing mica powders alongside binders to create this exceptional paint.

Hi Susan--I like your "let's see what happens" videos! You are right about the Sargent paints that are much cheaper than the Golden brand. Sargent brand is marketed to institutions like schools were a tight budget is almost always given to the art teachers.
Thanks for your great demos!! Cheers!
Anything is cheaper than Golden. LOL. I was happy to see I have a use for the Sargent paints. Thanks for watching.
I love the metallic effects. Great for book covers or sketchbook covers.
Totally!
Thank you, Susan. Beautiful work. ❤
Glad you like it!
Very informative video, Susan, and so interesting!! Lovely results! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks.
I now keep a small plastic container wider and deeper than my largest brayer and keep a solution of Murphy’s Oil Soap and water. Put my brayer in there after I use it - good for metallic and regular acrylics. I then keep a stack of brown paper from Amazon boxes and roll it or wipe it. Keeps them in good shape. If they need a good soak, I leave them in and go to another brayer.
I tied that once and with shooting video and my small space I gave up on that. My multi-tasking days are over. So now I focus on the video and clean up after.
Thank you for all the information. This video was very helpful. 😊
Thanks for watching.
Beautiful!
Thanks.
Hi Susan! Great results! Have you tried Lumiere by jacquard? Lots of colors like the mica powders, but in a paint form. They work well on the gel plate!
I will get some. I like Jacquard as a brand. Thanks for the tip.
I enjoyed watching as you worked with the metalic paints- thank you for sharing. Some of your results were beautiful and made me want to try to make metalic papers. Do you have to clean your brayers to remove the mica that was in the paints? Also the stencil with the circles- was that one of yours?
Thanks. Yes. I use Murphy's Oil soap to clean the brayers. Especially after metallic paint. And yes, the stencil with the circles is one of mine. They both are actually.
I've found a wet wipe will clean it off fairly well if you keep wiping for a few minutes.
Yes, there are so many ways to clean the plate. I found if I have all available to me then if I have trouble with one I will try another.
I kept saying to the screen “please use emerald green with copper!” 👀😂🎨🙏
😂 I will try that one of these days.
I really loved the prints you made. Beautiful colours. I love watching your videos. However, the background music on repeat was really annoying and distracting from the pleasure of listening to your voice.
Sorry about that. Some people say they like the music. I try to make everyone happy but that isn't possible.
