The fight with SA-X was... disappointingly easy, honesty. Especially considering how much it was hyped throughout the whole game. I can play metroid fusion on an emulator in my phone and still defeat SA-X without taking damage ( •_•)
It’s rather easy actually I wouldn’t necessarily call it disappointing because SA-X can still wipe the floor with you if you aren’t careful Even still, the atmosphere of the battle is just epic
Strangely it kinda add stuff that doesn't make sense in the serie as a whole (not retconning but the whole phazon stuff). This is why Prime is mostly a spinoff serie (and Other M should stay as a spin off as well)
As convoluted as other M can be...it does fill in a lot of holes. Just ignore then mischaracterizing Samus, using a poor control system, and not making us actually care about the other characters. Ridley is the ultimate parasite himself, considering even as a chick he had incredible intelligence to lure a researcher in and eat them. By eating the researchers and fallen soldiers, Ridley was able to grow and evolve fast enough to go from chick to fully grown in a matter of hours.

What if Samus and Baby Metroid teams up in a later game that's basically an alternative path, aka Baby Metroid survives and is Samus's partner after fully studied.
For the record the 2D Metroid final bosses are incredible and powerful in their own right. But the 2 2D Metroid final bossesthat stick out to me the most is Mecha Ridley from Metroid Zero Mission and Proteus Ridley from Metroid Samus Returns remake which are two of my favorite final boss battles in the Metroid franchise.
The end of the Samus Returns remake looks like a fun boss fight, but I feel it ruins the story of Super Metroid if Samus was _just_ fighting Ridley on SR388 and the baby metroid totally kicked his ass but then she shoves it in a bottle to give to the federation and woops Ridley's back at full health in time to steal it immediately after, giving her barely enough time to throw all her upgrades into the vacuum of space before coming back to fight him again.
Ridley seems out of place in Samus Returns. I guess one could that say that that's how the Space Pirates knew about the baby Metroid (he sees it in the remake), but why was he even on SR388 in the first place? Didn't the entire Prime Trilogy happen between Metroid NES and Metroid 2? He looks sort of like he did in MP3. It was sort of just confusing.
