I honestly wish that cinderpelt lasted longer, I wish that they didn’t kill her off in the second series. Though we wouldn’t have cinderheart and the whole cinderpelt and cinderheart thing. She was my favorite character and I wish they did much more with her

I love Cinderpelt's floofyness; I think it fits her! The way that cinderpelt and leafkit are drawn really sets the idea that one is older and more mature, and the other is younger
I feel like the main reason that Cinderheart was put into Cinderpelt was because I feel like she out of all of the medicine cat spirit guides would have never let Jaypaw get forced into being a medicine cat. He wanted to be a warrior like she did and while she would've respected his decision instead of forcing him to become a medicine cat like Spottedleaf did.
Leafpaw/kit was an adorable character and seemed so full of hope and life. Later in the series I felt so bad for how she turned out to be. So many bad things happened. I wish they had expanded on her friendships with other warriors more. I love the speedpaint, it looks awesome!

OMG your style is SO cute. And I'm glad you mentioned it's okay to use references. Just not other people's works. I think when it comes to using others work, that's good for gaining inspiration for a certain angle or lighting, but I think it can actually really hinder an artist cause they'll be drawn to copy that style too. And then you won't be able to find out what YOUR style is. It's all about taking the time to practice.
I really admire my friend's art, I love everything about it and they inspired me to practice my own art. One day I realized I had been emulating them so much that I had lost all of the great things I had liked about my own "style", now my art was just a copy of their style and it was extremely hard to try and draw other things besides this specific thing & style. So I've had to throw the whole thing out the window and start over by practicing anatomy. It still has a lot of traces of their style in it, it's really hard to undo but I miss what I lost and I'm determined to get my own style back. So while I don't think it's necessarily bad to admire and emulate some parts of other people's styles, it can become a crutch really quickly for a learning artist.

I've always imagine Bluestar as a blue furred cat because I know a cat that has blueish gray and long fur, so I imagine Bluestar looking like her until I saw that she was always draw with short fur. Also many Warriors descriptions are not very detailed so It's normal to imagine its characters differently. Beautiful speedpaint! Sorry for possible English mistakes
I mean about scars. I know this is DIFFERENT. But i know a cat that reminds me of Brightheart. Every time i think of that cat, i think of Brightheart. It was my Cousin’s cat. Got it’s left eye pecked out by a bird, got the left side of it’s face grazed by a shot gun blast from some farmer. And it survived getting ran over twice. It had a fur-less scar on most of the left side of it’s face & neck. Perhaps Brightheart’s scars are so deep & so bad that they never recovered just like my cousin’s cat.
Well, that was my cousins cat. But i always felt bad for it. I did struggle to look at it. But i always felt so guilty feeling that way. I myself did own a stray that had a broken shoulder & his tail was kinked in 2 spots. Vets refused to fix him up, saying we abused the cat. Than he peed on there computer and my mom said, “that’s my cat now!” He lived for a long time & was my favorite cat ever. A calm cuddle buddy when i hung outside. He didn’t like kittens for some reason though. Not MEAN, but he’d run away from them hissing. Probably cus they dunno they hurt him?

you talking about how you imagine cinderpelt reminded me that back when I read the books I thought that she was like a dark orangey brown because I read the books in german and in the german version her name is "Rußpelz" which is actually cinderpelt literally translated but I thought that "Ruß" was the same as "Rost" which means rust so yea I thought she was rust colored for a really long time XD honestly I associate the english name cinderpelt with the canon description but I still view Rußpelz in German as dark orange and I prefer the design I had in my head its more interesting lmao edit: the german book covers are really ugly photoshoped pictures of real cats and often have nothing to do with the cats in the books so like I never got to see the cats drawn with their canon design and also yes my brain did just ignore the book calling her grey multiple times i have no idea how it did that XD
Clarification: You can use copyrighted images as references. If you are drawing it on your own, that is transformative and your creation falls under fair use. You simply can't take the photo and insert it into your art direction or something of the sort.
