Cody vs. Roman II... WAS A MASTERPIECE!

- WrestleMania 40 is now over, and after going out of my way and travelling to Philadelphia for Night 2 of WrestleMania, just for ONE MATCH. 3 days later, I am still in shock at what went down. Cody Rhodes vs Roman Reigns for the second year in a row main evented WrestleMania, and it was the culmination of two stories, Roman's 1300 plus day reign and Cody Rhodes journey to becoming WWE Champion. The most hyped WrestleMania main event in at least a decade, ended up somehow exceeding the hype and in the stadium had grown folks not only jumping for joy countless times, but grown folks including yours truly were left crying when it was all set and done. Featuring John Cena, Undertaker and The Rock. It was truly iconic
This video shares my experience of going to WM for one match, and that match ending up being the greatest match I have ever seen in my opinion. Hope you enjoy! Игры
One of my favorite videos I’ve ever made ❤️.. Hope you guys enjoyed the more personal nature of the video as well
W
W
I love you pav keep making videos you always bring joy to my day
Thanks for the video I have a question and you don't have to answer it if you don't want to obviously but do you ever from Blue Moon to Blue Moon get the edge to play with the figures behind you? Even if just for 5 mins ?😅😂
Easy to see why honestly! Great job
Cody finally finishing the story has to be one of the most wholesome title wins in WM history. Even Samantha got emotional when announcing him as the new champion
i was critical of the decision to make him lose last year, but im starting to get around to it seeing just how magical it was for Cody to win this year with even more cards stacked against him. makes it all the more infuriating to see 9 y/o dickriders call Cody a midcarder and demand Roman be made champion for life
Yeahh, when I heard her voice cracking, it got me! Big time. I knew it would be an emotional moment, but damn.. Then, when Cody was hugging Triple H, pulled him in tight and clasped his hands around him, and squeezed..
that really got me, too!
I cannot remember another time I cried as a wrestling fan, but WrestleMania 40, Cody's moment did it.
And I'm not even a huge Cody Rhodes fan, either, but the story was REAL.
As REAL as you can get.
Such an emotional moment for all involved, for all in attendance, and for all watching at home.
Very memorable, to say the least.
What more can we wrestling fans ask for, besides memorable moments to cherish forever.
He really deserves it. He has earned it.
It was so wholesome Roman was smiling when Cody pinned him
Yeah during his return before he came back earlier we lost so many superstars that made people happy due to VM 💡 but thanks to HHH taking over we are now getting what we wished for.
I like the part where
Cody thanked Seth at the end
even tho they lost the tag match Seth still had Cody's back even tho his back was going through hell that whole event especially with his WM Night Two match
and he still helped him after losing his title
to prove to Cody he's a changed man
But man imagine if Dean Ambrose had come out with Seth Rollins to comfrot
Reigns and Solo
fans in the arena would be screaming the old "holy smokes" chant
2014 • Seth Betrays Roman, causing the shield to implode
2022 • Seth Mocks Roman with Shield Gear, re-opening the wound
2023 • Sami Betrays Roman the same way Seth did, pouring salt into the wound and causing The Bloodline to implode
2024 • Instead of finishing off Cody, Roman chooses to obsess over his past demons as Seth becomes the shield for Cody Rhodes. Full circle from 2014, Roman hits Seth with the chair, causing his entire empire to implode.
This level of full circle storytelling, intertwining Seth and Roman’s history and Roman’s obsession of the past to have Cody take advantage of it and end the greatest reign of all time is something we’ll likely never see again. What a main event. What a WrestleMania. What a story.
Great comment
Something Vince old azz wouldn't get or understand proud his azz retire HHH, Shawn Michaels, Paul Heyman & the rock for taking over the company an treating us fans right
I think The Bloodline story will culminate at next year's WM when Rock vs Roman is main event of night one
Don’t forget when Seth also rubbed it in on Raw about changing the game forever
Well said 👏👏👏👏👏👏
This was literally WWE’s Avengers Endgame.
I don’t think nothing in Wrestling will ever top that spectacle ever again!
If Hogan and Austin came out to help too. That stadium would have felt like there was an earthquake.
@@r3tr0_r3dux_2 next year!! or the year after (so its not too soon for something similar)
lets hope they can write an awesome story again and again and have a need for those guys to come out
They have to write a grave injustice for example
too fast to say ... never underestimate the storylines now in the new era of wwe
I was hoping Austin to come out at some point
Yhh facts, they could of ended Wwe right there and rolled the end credits 😂
The best part is that even before all of the run ins, Cody and Roman were indeed having that 5 star wrestling match. They just have insane chemistry for some reason
Theyre both amazong at telling a story in tge ring, and Cody is great at making his opponent look great and meshing with any style. My only prolem with Cody is the cody cutter because it just never looks natural imo
@@JamaalDaGreatestYeah, the Crossroads is a better finisher imo
Ngl it was an 8 star match
Both men will definitely be in the Hall of Fame when they retire
@@twinzzlersstfu, you will acknowledge your tribal chief! Didn't you see our tribal chief show in the middle that the cross rhodes cannot beat anyone, even someone as weak as cody XD.
Nah fr tho, that triple cross rhodes at the end was just so emotional. Samantha announcing with tears in her throat was just so emblematic.
Bro can we talk about this man entire ORCHESTRA performing. The GREATEST of all time! Almost made me believe that no way he’s losing bro!
Fr! I rewatch it too many times!
That's the beauty of wrestling baby
It was the best send off for a legendary champion
It was dope
Before my Grandma passed away last summer, she had watched and attended professional wrestling shows since the late 1960s and was a huge fan until the very end. With this being the first WrestleMania without her, and knowing how huge of a Dusty Rhodes fan she was, it meant a whole lot to me to see Cody finish the story. Wrestling at its peak is the most beautiful form of storytelling ❤️
Hope your grandma is resting well and smiling hard. Wholesome story
Who is cutting onions here..
Don't worry man, she was watching this match with Dusty up in Heaven.
Cody Rhodes is probably one of Roman Reigns’ greatest rivals of all time. These 2 delivered BOTH times at 39 and XL
Definitely....roman reigns biggest rivals are cody rhodes.....seth rollins....brock lesnar....Daniel bryan....bray wyatt.....jey uso...and kevin owens
Rhodes vs Reigns def a peak rivalry !!!!
“wrestling has more than one royal family ..” 🩸
realising that it took Cody 17 years to become World Champion really hit me, just goes to show how special this moment was, nearly 20 years to achieve his and his dads goal was so incredible to witness!
Easily the greatest WrestleMania main event of all time. The return, the heartbreak, the adversity, old rivals, becoming new friends, final bosses. It had everything you can ask for in a main event match.
@@Jesse_Saucedo WHAT?
Only thing that could have made it better is if it was Austin instead of Taker.
Yes bro. Man I went to this Mania, as my first Mania. This was the greatest experience I have ever had.
I honestly couldn’t think of a better end to Roman’s title reign. After nearly 4 years of being the Tribal Chief, everything that Roman had accomplished had crumbled because he still hated Seth for his betrayal 10 years ago.
I like to think that, within the storyline, Roman was at a point where he knew he had to make a choice. He could either retain again, or he could exorcise some personal demons, but he couldn't do both; he had to choose. And he chose the latter.
Cody Rhodes finishing the story is one of the best long term stories Wwe has ever produce.
WrestleMania 40 Night 2 was straight up CINEMA!
Last 5-10 minutes of the match was just simply epic
Wait a minute ik u from michis comment section
This fued had the perfect booking. From Cody losing at 39 and having his 2012 Cena redemption arc to finally winning the big one at 40
The Somoan Spike and Spear combo gave me the same feeling that I had watching the Sweet Chin Music to Pedigree at Wrestlemania 28.
Taker really pulled up like a random ass Pokemon 😂
The prevailing theory is it was supposed to be Austin, but there was some sort of health issue so they called up Taker instead.
Cody used up all his remaining MP on that summon lmao
@@perrycarters3113 And to be fair, it made sense because not only did Taker had a prevailing history with most of the Bloodline (his rivalry with the Rock at the past, Heyman being Lesnar's advocate the time the streak ended and Roman giving him his 2nd WM loss) but it also gave him a proper Mania closure something that should've happened if there was no pandemic.
Also was because taker is the final boss
taker is the CONSCIOUS OF WWE!
If anyone who really has a beef with bloodline, it's him
His 2 years long journey, struggle, wins, losses, success, failures to win the championship actually made this much more emotional. Fans could relate themselves with him. WWE made the best decision by not handing over the WWE title to Cody just after his return in 2022. He had to fight and struggled for it. WWE didn't put the belt on him until the fans were literally begging to see him as champion.
Lol WWE put the belt on him that's why he was back in wwe as top guy. People like you've no knowledge about WWE if you thinks crybabies are the reason why Cody is champion and face lol
i’m a cody fan but let’s be real, everyone deserves their flowers for this, Seth, Roman; and especially The Rock and triple h.
What a match man. This mania really brought WWE back to the mainstream. It was one of the most talked about main events in ages, we're really in the Renaissance era
Night 2 was truly something else… WOW. Thank you Roman! Thank you Rocky! Thank you Cody! And… Thank you Seth Rollins!
Seth "freakin" rollins
Don't forget the new head of the table: THANK YOU TRIPLE H
Never did I think I was gonna cry watching Mania 40 but I did. This was a journey that you had to be there for the past 15 years to really enjoy.
Honestly.. you can argue you had to understand the past 22 years of wrestling. Because Undertaker and The Rock had their specific beef back in 2002 🤣
This was literally cinema.
Absolute peak!
This is what a wrestlemania main event should be!
It's the first time i ever cried while watching a wrestling match.
One of the best WrestleMania Main events.
And Samantha Irvin also deserves appreciation for the way she announced Cody as the winner. Well, she was also crying.
Live action movie! Absolute cinema!
I stopped watching WWE back in mid 2021 and Cody's return was what made me come back to watching WWE back... Seeing his journey was truly inspiring and heartwarming...
This honestly puts Roman Reigns on my top 10 wwe wrestlers oat what a legendary run and the end was just perfect
Relax
Not yet all time but of the modern era? Most definitely
There's no more point in questioning ☝️
top 5 tbh
If you don’t have Roman in your top 10 all time,,, you might just be a hater at this point. The Tribal Chief gimmick ALONE puts him in the top 10, possibly top 5
Cody vs Roman 2 is one of the best matches of all time. It was an overbooked mess but that lead it being such an insane moment making machine. Now personally, I can't call it the greatest match ever, I don't think the greatest match has interferences, however, for a historical spectacle, it's one of the best.
As soon as WM XL ended, I knew I needed a reaction or analysis from this dude lmao
I was looking forward to this video let's gooo
Pure Masterpiece the Greatest Ending 2 any WrestleMania ever!!!
7 Run in’s id say its the Greatest
WRESTLEMANIA 40 will forever be in every signature intro from here on out. That’s how goated it is.
Also the fact that Roman ate the pin with a smile, knowing, this was special and just being at peace knowing, i have seen it all and done it all. That was very special
Bret Hart- WMX
Chris Benoit- WMXX
Daniel Bryan- WMXXX
Cody Rhodes- WMXL
WWE is just at it's best when it tells the journey of people to succeed through dedication, hard work, and heart.
Don’t forget bro Seth was literally Iron Man, he sacrificed himself and in the end even had tears, when they showed the cameras on Seth, I felt something in my heart, like you said after John Cena you felt like this was your guy, for me after Randy Orton I felt like Seth Rollins is my guy, The NEW MR.WRESTLEMANIA
already tweeted this but this match.....was a visual symphony. never thought I'd feel like a kid again watching wrestling.
Missed it live but watching people explode at the Undertaker bell made me feel such huge goosebumps!
Honestly, they managed to give a feeling of Endgame somehow
There’s been a lot of moments in wrestling over the past few years that’ve made me cry. Started with Punk returning in AEW. We’re in the most emotionally complex and rewarding time in pro wrestling!
This was the first Wrestlemania I ever attended and can honestly say this was the one of greatest nights of my life. I’ve only been to 2 wwe live events prior which were survivor series 2009 and a raw in 2011. I tuned out of wwe around 2015 and only watched the following 2 manias but I didnt really start tuning back in till wm39. Once I saw 40 was close to my hometown I knew I had to go. I am now 23 and this whole event made me feel like a kid again. I haven’t been this interested in wwe in years and the whole build leading to this event truly revived my love for wrestling. I am beyond thankful that I got to witness this live and I’m now watching wwe again like I was when I was a kid!
Been waiting for this for days now
Night 2’s main event was pure cinema all the damn way. From the cameos, the emotional value, the stress, the tension, this was everything we love in professional wrestling. Not to mention, Cody’s story truly was one of the most beautiful in history and seeing him achieve his dream, truly was the most beautiful visual ever. Thank you HHH for making this masterpiece.😭❤️
Each Wrestlemania decade marks the end of one era and the start of another.
X, XX, XXX and now XL. Each one ended on one of the absolute best feel good moments of heroes triumphing over adversity.
Bret becoming the WWE champ and company man.
Benoit and Guerrero holding their world titles up together.
Daniel Bryan making Yeslemania happen
and finally, Cody Rhodes, ending the greatest title reign of the modern era and finishing the story.
I've been waiting for this video since mania ended!!! You never miss Pav. Always love your perspective as a fan. Thanks for the content!
Undertaker is my favorite of all time so I cried when I heard the gong
Towards the end of the video seeing everyone be happy for him made me start tearing up. Emotions run high, what a time, he deserved it, & glad you got see it go down in person. W video Pav. & “ Woahhhhh “
Samantha announcing Cody's victory in her trembling voice definitely shattered my heart. Man.
Your story telling skills are top notch bro. Perfectly described, I feel the exact same way about Cena being my fav wrestler growing up and Cody giving off that same feeling when he came back.
As soon as the main event ended, i thought about the video you would drop, i was hoping it was that day but obviously timezones didnt allow that, thank you pav, you are a legend.
You explained this so perfectly. I didn’t get to go wrestlemania, may never be able to but you’re right we felt like kids again all those emotions and the connection we have with these characters and the wrestlers themselves felt like that kid watching it cried aswell
Glad you got to see it live! Must have been insane. I cried.
i've been waiting for this video for 2 days, everytime a ppv or something insane happens, i always wait for your videos
I was watching this match thinking “wow, I’m witnessing history right now.” This Wrestlemania weekend as a whole will be talked about for years to come. Truly, THE BEST Wrestlemania ever. The storytelling from this match was incredible and really set the bar high for this new era in WWE. I’m all for the ride we’re really about to be taken on!
Was waiting for this video! Great job as always bro
I was there both nights. Night 1 was just too cold. But night 2 was one of the best crowds I’ve ever been apart of. Won’t forget my first love wrestling show
Live*
This is exactly what I've been waiting for
Wrestlemania XL feels like we've beaten the game. Everything after this is like new game plus mode or something. I've been watching wrestling since I was three, and this was the ONLY show that has ever made me actually cry.
All love pav. Amazing how this match brought everyone together at least for a moment
Happy 200 videos PAV!
I couldn't watch it live unfortunately, but seeing the highlights and descriptions it seems like an amazing match
How dare you take two days to get video up lol I am so hyped to watch this!!
Just the man I’ve been waiting for
Pav....
U literally just said MY HEART ❤️ WORD TO WORD
EXACTLY WHAT i wanted to say
The moment could not be framed in words however helped me do that thanks buddy this is how we all felt during #WMXL ❤
Met you at the super store the day after Mania, been waiting on this video good work as always!
EVERY wrestling fan has said this WM40 was amazing. I go to events in my town just because I love wrestling but haven't followed the story. A small city got Roman Reigns AND John Cena after COVID. AMAZING
HHH era just started and I feel like I'm about to start watching again.
I’ve been wating so long for this vid
I like your content because your passion for wrestling is eye catching and astonishing keep it up brother
Getting to see this in person was the best experience of my life!
i watch other wrestling channels for the opinion, we come to Pav for the raw emotion and the feels you bring in every video. Goated channel
I’ve been waiting for this video
This shows you how good WWE can be and I hope this is only the beginning of greatness
Been waitin on this one
I was waiting for your video
I just recently got back into wrestling after a very long hiatus.
I watched at the height of the Monday Night wars as a kid. My brother and I started on WCW. I will never forget the first night we found WWF. Nitro was drawing to a close and in a moment of impatience Bro began to channel surf. I left the room frustrated , but shortly after he shouted for me to come back. I dashed back in to see Kane and who knows who else in a cage match. We were so delighted to have even more wrestling to tune into. I remember having to make that grueling decision of which to tune in to on Monday nights, or sometimes feverishly switching the channel back and forth to try to do the impossible and catch it all. I remember tuning in to Thursday night Thunder and Sunday Night Heat. I remember when Smackdown was new. I remember the Attitude Era.
I remember watching Jeff Hardy get screwed out of the title for what felt like 20th time against Triple H after wanting him to have it so bad, and after one particular match on a weekly show I said "That's it. I'm done."
I didn't pay wrestling much of any mind for about 15 years after that. My Brother kept up and would try talk about the newest factions, show me the newest games and his creations and achievements and just in general try to get me back into it, but I'd really had enough. It was such a big part of our childhoods and I always sort of held this guilt like I was leaving him behind to his lonesome or something, but I was checked out. No turning Back.
About a month or so ago, I was recommended a RUclips video about WWF No Mercy. We loved that game as kids and teens and I have many fond memories of our time with it, so I gave it a watch. Of course RUclips did RUclips things and became convinced that I loved Professional Wrestling and recommended 100 other videos related to it on my home feed. Generally, I'm highly annoyed by this when it happens like everyone else but something was different here. I was recommended older matches and content that I was watching as a kid. I was blasted with a nostalgia bomb, and I found I could not stop watching these videos. One after another I watched until it was the ONLY thing that was in my home feed. I had a lot of catching up to do.
This was the first time I'd ever watched a WrestleMania live with friends. After learning of Cody's story and everything that led to this match and then watching it all unfold on PPV, all of us shouting and on the edge of our seats... I felt like that kid again - The one watching the Monday Night wars that wanted so badly to grow up to be a Professional Wrestler one day.
I fucking cried when Cody won. The whole thing was absolutely magical and it legitimately brought me to tears. WrestleMania 40 was indeed the greatest of all time for me because through it, I fell back in love with Professional Wrestling. Thank you for this video. You have earned my subscription and loyal viewership.
But I also cried through this whole damn video because it's so well done and I'm wiping my tears and upset about it so Fuck you. Well done.
Remembering cody since 2008 n seeing him now , is just fantastic growth, i was a Cody Rhodes fan when he did dashing and undashing arc with bangers vs rey mysterio on smackdown
I want to let you know that you are one of my favorite creators on RUclips
Literally, i had the same feeling as you. i didn't care that much for cody, but when he returned at wm 38, he became my favorite wrestler
Getting my popcorn ready to watch the goat
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIISSSSS LETSSS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Dude, I was there live, too. It was my kids' first wrestling event. I can't explain how awesome it was to experience that with them.
Was waiting on ur vid man
Just wanted to say that I've been waiting for your review since the second WM40 ended
dude. that cody entrance. everybody in my section knew exactly what time it was. they nailed the avengers theme all the way down to the new intro package. i'm so glad i got to be a part of this mania as my first ever wrestlemania. it was insane!
This was my first Mania , I was there both nights and I can confidently say, this was the greatest Mania ever , Night 2 was 100% perfect
I was there for my first Wrestlemania! It was cathartic to see Cody finish his story. Every wrestling fan needs to go to a Wrestlemania...I promise you its worth every penny to be a part of history
That quote by Cole….”damn it I love professional wrestling”……chills
I was a big WWE fan between 07-14 but then slowly started losing interest, but boy watching this Wrestlemania made me feel like I was 12 years old watching Taker vs Shawn at Wrestlemania again. It was truly magical.
So happy to be there
God Bless You Brodie 💚🤞🏾 but what a damn Wrestlemania.
the match was probably up there as the best mania main event of all time, just such a cinematic masterpiece 🔥🔥
You actually sounded like Paul Bearer lol and Samantha's announcement after Cody's victory was cherry on top/icing on the cake/ whatever it is that was cool
Awesome how you recapped the whole story. 🙌🏼
I heard you on the lapsed fan, I was like oh sh*t that’s wrestling gifs haha. The collab I didn’t expect but you did a great job over there. I wish Stone cold would’ve took undertaker spot, would’ve made more sense and would be a bigger pop.
I love this video so much. Dude I'm 32 and I had tears in my eyes when Cody finally got it done. That whole second night was special and I agree that Main Event was arguably the best ever. Right up there with Taker/HBK II and Rock/Austin II
this is the first time i cried over a wrestling match, i was there live and this is genuinely the greatest thing ive ever seen in any form of media with my own eyes.
I was there. It almost brought me to tears. Cody finally finished the story!!!
Wrestling itself has been nothing but a rollercoaster ride since July 2021, but the last 2 months were the most enjoyable time i had as a pro wrestling fan
Honestly Cody-Roman 2 is my favorite match of all-time. It may not be the best in-ring, but the story, the entrances, the fight feel, the star power involved and the finish, even Samantha's voice at the end, Definitely the craziest emotional roller coaster I've ever had watching wrestling.
PAV is the best! Can’t wait to view more videos. I was 5 years old at wrestlemania 14 I watched the era of Austin begin
i think the 3 words you dm'd me after summed it up. greatest night ever.
W VID PAV AND W CODY!! BRO IT WOULDV’E BEEN EVEN BETTER IF HIS DAD WAS THERE
Roman having the steel chair and choosing weather to hit Rhodes or Rollins was my favorite part. He chose REVENGE and was still holding that grudge over that betrayal from 10 years ago. It was poetic, symbolic and so beautifully written that it literally made a grown man cry, and am not ashamed of it! :D
