Noel Neill, First Actress To Play Superman's Lois Lane, Dies At 95

Noel Neill, the actress who first portrayed Superman's love interest Lois Lane, has died at the age of 95.
Neill starred as Lane in the first Superman film in 1948, "Superman vs. Atom Man" in 1950 and in the 1950s TV series "Adventures of Superman."
Even after she retired, Neill appeared in later Superman films, including "Superman Returns" in 2006. The city of Metropolis, Illinois, dedicated a statue of her as Lane in 2010.
Beyond Superman, Neill starred in dozens of films and TV shows in the 1940s and '50s, winning a Golden Boot award for her work in Westerns.
Her manager said on Facebook that she "maintained that bright, perky and engaging personality up until her death."

My condolences to the family of Noel Neil for their loss. Native daughter of Minnesota, she came to Hollywood in the early forties to seek her fame in the movies, all the while she did pin-up photos that rivaled those of Betty Grable, second most photos sold. Then, she became THE Lois Lane in the 1948-50 Superman movie serial, transferring the role to television in 1953, and the rest is history. Her sweet portrayal of Lois will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace. So long, beautiful lady, and thank you for touching my life.
