One other option to consider is borrowing from libraries. Read the book and if you liked it and think you will read it or might want to refer to it again, buy it later, either physical or electronic version

To be sure if you should keep it or not, you should be honest with yourself and ask yourself useful questions such as: Am I gonna read it again in the future? Do I still get value from it? Do I value more the content of the book or the memory I have of it? About books, I personally think non fiction books are more subject to be read several times as we can refer to them from time to time, whereas fiction books even if we love them, enjoyed the story, we won’t read them as often. To that matter, it is similar to films on Dvd, blu ray, etc..

Anyone else find it funny that Joshua is covering this particular subject while his desk is cluttered with 6-7 books. LOL Shedding books is tough. I absolutely agree with Joshua on giving the book to someone that may enjoy it. That gives me enormous joy.

In the end, clinging to everything is bad... my books though :X

Being guilty is not a good thing. Solving this problem is important. I tend to recognise books which I have not read/re read in a long time and tend to lend it to my friends for review. When these books are not with me till they read it helps to know that I am not missing them and can let go some of them. Not a sure shot solution but wen experiment.

It’s like you guys read in my mind or see my room now 😅 Btw. I remember the same question from your podcast ages ago. I believe you said there’s nothing bad about keeping the things that give you joy, right? Of course we should not mix the feelings like love here :)

Blimey, this is MY story! We moved from a largeish house in France to a rental appartment (smallish) in our home country and I KNEW I had to get rid of many of my books. As 98% of them are in English, I couldn't even give them away - and I had a carload of them to be taken to UK to be given to 2nd-hand-shops during our holidays.... except that it was got cancelled. Which meant to Hero Husband took hundreds of them to get burned - my heart was broken, because I KNOW how much joy they could have given to other readers. But now they're gone - and I have learned to live w/o them.... Same thing with some 1200 DVDs.... I'm less attached to them but still, it's the WASTE that hurts.

Sometimes we do love our things, and not for good reasons like I want to keep these books beacause they make me feel good about my self or I am not okay with my current life so I wish that reading these books will change it, whatever it’s. It’s not necessary healthy or kind. The question is why are we attached and unable to let go?
-I watched the video because I am in this phase.

But if I let go of my books, I won't be able to amass 1/1000th of Ryan Holiday's library D:
