People simply don't understand how huge this performance was! 6:47.50 for the WHOLE circuit (20,832 meters) in 2010. This lap stood for 7 long years, and was only touched in 2017 by an electric Evo and McLaren P1 LM. However, McLaren's took the shorter version of the lap, which is a whole 232 meters shorter, which would add roughly 4 seconds to its record of 6:43.22 for a total 6:47.22. So in reality, the McLaren basically matched the time of Zonda R, a whole 7 years later! The full lap is 20,832 meters long. People say that this car is no faster than a modern GT2 RS. That is a fantastic car, no doubt. But I feel like people forgot a couple of things. This 6m 47s lap, however brilliant, was not the best there could have been. That is no criticism of the driver, because he is phenomenal to have even gotten it around the Green Hell in that much time. But if he tried again, I'm sure the car could do 6:43 or even less than that. And with modern tires, its capable of even more for sure!
It's the tyre technology. With modern tweaks and that, the car can easily push for under 6:10. This car is, and will always remain one of the greatest beasts on the face of Earth.
That's hilarious, they don't understand what driving a real race car on one of the worlds hardest race courses pushing 180mph on straightaways is really like. Every bump pulls your steering wheel and you have to keep the car under control, that's scary. Nur isn't the smoothest track either.
...and with a few refinements to the gearbox, too... it found itself in the wrong gear a handful of times, requiring the driver to correct it, losing valuable moments of forward velocity in the process. I'm sure there were many seconds lost to that alone.

Regular Zonda don't go for sale on public auctions nowadays, but it's safe to assume that a Zonda S/F would easily grab 6-7 million. +Mike M it's 155mph on the m4 because it's limited on purpose which is good but the zonda R doesn't keep going to 211mph+ like the E60 M5 because of the downforces from all the wings
I don't think anyone would bother to modify the Zonda R. Even if you could it would be stupid to as the car was engineered off balance. If you change something it will not make it balanced anymore and at that price point it would just more ideal to get a car that is $100k and modify it or even get a used car and modify that. The Zonda R is over $1M. I'm sure even with a $5k car can be highly modified in every single area to out perform cars $2M new built strictly on performance. With some good body shell talent it could even look better as well! Love this lap so much. But it could have been so much faster. Something was seriously wrong with the selector especially on the downshifts. They became so damn clunky after the first few dozen corners.
