NÜRBURGRING LAMBORGHINI LP1200 FULL SEND! Onboard Lap Nordschleife (+ Crash?!) ZYRUS Engineering
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 7 авг 2020
- The ZYRUS LP1200 Lamborghini started its life as a "stock" Huracan Super Trofeo, however after many modifications done by Zyrus Engineering, not much left is stock.
The V10 engine now has TWIN Turbo's and on it's highest setting, it produces around 1200HP.
Combine that with the 1200 kg weight of the car and approx 1200 kg of downforce at full-speed, the Zyrus LP1200 has a 1-1-1 ratio!
Join us onboard with racing driver @Fredrik Sørlie for 6min48 FULL lap (not BtG!).
This run was done during a trackday on a sunny day at 30 degrees C, and with some traffic.
Fredrik thinks he can get a couple of seconds of the time if he can do a lap without traffic.
Two days later, Fredrik and his team decided to give it another go.
Unfortunately the car had a tire blowout at more than 200 km/h at the section called Kesselchen.
(footage of the tire failure and small crash are at the end of this video).
A BIG thank you to Team Zyrus Engineering (www.zyrus.no) and Fredrik Sørlie for giving us the opportunity to film up close and onboard!

Hey guys. First of all, thank you so much for all the support, comments and questions. This is a crazy project and it’s very much an underdog story. I am extremely proud and excited to be a part of it!
I see that there are some questions that keep coming up, so I figured I’d provide a little inside information :)
First of all I need to stress that this was in no way an official record attempt or timed lap per se (the lap timer is a part of the ECU though, so it will always be running automatically). It is simply an onboard video from our second test in the dry at the Nordschleife, and my fifth ever full lap at speed with this car. The lap was completed on a private track day, in traffic, while trying to be somewhat considerate and safe. Comparing this with any official record attempt under the best conditions or a qualifying lap is not all that relevant, really. But feel free. The time is what it is ;)
So why don’t we go faster witg all that power and why is the top speed so low?
Well, the car is based on the Super Trofeo cup car. The reason being that the cup car is essentially a road car with a cage and a bodykit. The reason this platform is chosen over, let’s say a GT3, is that the base of the entire business is that you as a customer can transform your normal Huracan into an LP1200 without cutting it to pieces. Every mod can be reversed. The Super Trofeo does not have, nor will ever have, the mechanical grip or balance (ie cornering performance) of that of a GT3 car. Not even close. The reason being the limitations in terms of suspension geometry on the road car. It is all a compromise, unlike a proper, factory built race car.
The top speed is limited by the Xtrac 6-speed gearbox that is Super Trofeo specific. A it is a one make series, the transmissions are all the same, and different ratios simply does not exist. We will eventually replace the transmission, but as we generally race this car on shorter tracks, it just does not make financial sense at the moment. We will however raise the rev limit for our next visit to the ring.
As for negative comments on my driving or appearance, that is fine. It is not a perfect lap, and I probably see way more mistakes than you do anyway. And I know very well that I am a fat, bold, old man 😂 An old man thar gets to drive a sub 7 Lambo on merit, not wealth. Also, keep in mind that due to the logistics of running a car like this, we only manage to do 2-4 flying laps a day, and it is not the kind of car you just jump in and break records in. I’ve got hours in the simulator with a very accurate version of the car, and know for a fact I can go way faster in some areas. Yet, at these speeds and the risk that comes with it, anything but a sensible and somewhat careful approach would be nothing short of stupid. Our goal at this time is reliability, stability and balance. Not outright speed :)
Oh, and btw we are currently not running full boost. With the crazy hot temperature this week, we were probably maxing out at ~900 or so.
Thanks to Nick and Auto Addiction for the cool edit. Until next time!
You did great in my opinion, we're all humans and no-one is perfect 😉
It was an awesome run bro! Scary fast. Sooo glad you did not hit the barrier.
Great lap Fredrik Sorlie! I'm glad we exchanged some comments on Bridge to Gantry post on Facebook. With the amount of downforce you claim to have on that car I would imagine you could do Schwedenkreuz flat out and Mutkurve on the uphill session before Klostertal a little faster but you seem to be just marginally faster than the GT2RS MR. I would love to see you make a lap time with the circuit just for yourself and running the full 1200 HP. The close gear ratio hurts you a little bit on Dottinger Hohe and you probably lose 5 or 6 seconds because of it. Keep up the great work and the great driving! ;)
Can you use a larger rear tire for more top speed?
@@billg26 5 to 6 seconds? Nope.

This vid was spedup right? Had to be 👀
the fact that he saved the car with the tire blow out at 220kph is just jaw dropping

Or 99.99% skill
He didn't save anything, he got lucky af!!!
@@dennypiedra3058 Watch his arm movement and the pedal input. There was quite some skill involved.
But ofc you know way more about driving than anyone else, I mean NFS:Heat is basically a racing sim, right?
@@allhailthecore3136 Its pure luck, you wont save anything in a splitsecond at 200+kph. He just tried to catch the car while not realising that the tyre has blown. Besides that, the car looks pretty cheap and got way to much power for those strange spoilers and splitters.
The man behind the wheel. 6 minutes younger than when he got in.

One of the most impressive things I've seen for a long time. The capabilities of both the car and the driver are other worldly. I'm speechless. I can't believe how relaxed the driver was after that epic lap. Calmly talking about how he was taking it a little easy.. wow, can't wait to see a full attack run
You know, non chalantly gets out and haves a convo after TACH’N OUT completely. Meh it was fun and easy. 😂

NOTE: The topspeed is limited to 270km/h because of the gearbox. The LP1200 uses the stock 6-speed Super Trofeo gearbox which is build for acceleration, not topspeed.
so many excuses, gearbox, 900hp instead of 1200... bla bla bla
Still, the could have added another ratio to deal with the straight........

that gearbox whine speaks to me on a very spiritual level
If my gearbox sounded like that, I would freak out.
So that's the gearbox whining? Not from the engine? I've heard that on motorcycles too. I've been searching and didn't find an answer. Please elaborate about that sound.
@@gokulkrishm51
so, gearbox whine, it's mostly related to sequential gearboxes, but also can be found in performance h-pattern trans. the reason behind the whine is how the gears are cut, we have helical gears, where the gear teeth are cutted at an angle, they're used in regular street cars, since they're quieter, but suffer from mechanical losses. and straight cut gears, the teeth are 100% straight (as the name implies), these are far efficient in terms of power transmission, but oblviously are noisier. the EXACT reason why they do this sound, i haven't pinpointed it yet
@@itsdokko2990 I'd be glad if you pinpoint the EXACT reason.
@@itsdokko2990 and I always thought the whining was due to air passing through the filter.
The final scene is epic. You guys have a guardian angel.
You know a car is fast when it passes gt3rs like its a prius
Haha! Except those GT3RS' were definitely not going for a time lap.
Those drivers were more than likely getting familiar with the track, or receiving track training.
@@QuasarPolaris Because otherwise, the GT3RS would have smoked it, right?
@@emanueldumitru6477
I disagree with that as well. It won't "smoke it."
The LP1200 is an absolute rocket of a machine, but with a GT3RS performing within its potential, it certainly won't pass it "like a prius." Haha
Bernard Rodriguez let’s see the gt3rs has about 500 hp with Michelin cup 2 tires which are grippy but the zyrus has 1200hp more downforce and better tired I think it will walk it like a Prius
GT3 RS Lap Record is around 6:56 i think, so this lambo is defenitely faster - but not as much as it might seem in the video :)
What an absolute beast of a driver! That was insane just to watch! Imagine driving on the track and seeing this car coming up in your rear view at ridiculous speeds.
The waste gate sound is music to my ears. It's as if the engine is disappointed and saying, "PSSHH! I know you didn't just lift!" lol. So awesome!!!
"You can't take a corner that fast" LP1200: "Psshh"
Literally... Pssshhh lol
Lmao
I feel like this is severely underrated.

Wow, that tire failure could've been catastrophic... He was so lucky...
Its good that the car slowed down fast spun straight .
I think it was partial skill as well...
Literally best outcome possible there. Great driving, and luck that day as he barely kissed the front end!
I crashed my M3 4months ago in exactly the same way (right rear puncture) at 260kmh on the autobahn, totaled, but we are alive.
@@gyula6516 I don't think there's anything he could have done.
Those Turbos and WasteGates and Spindles sounded absolutely Superb..I just close my eyes and listen to the magical sound of supreme craftsmanship..that was an astonishing lap on the Nurburgring..Well done! Well Done!✨
The sound of that turbo is dreamy.
You can barely hear it, mostly it’s just the valves
A longer 6th gear and no traffic. There's probably 8 seconds more time in the car. Truely phenomenal car. Amazing.
That's what i was thinking too, take about 2 secs off of traffic, but a whole lot of time is lost since it tops out at only 270 km/h
agree in that last straight he was topped out the entire length
Wow,w/ little bigger Air Dam & Spoilers 😗might Need Wings & Landing Gear.Lol
corners are more than straight's in nurburging, so better acceleration is more important here
@@Jxian yes but there's only what, 3 spots where he'd even touch 6th gear that i can think of, and lengthening it would definitely result in several seconds off the long straight, and a few other sections. Maybe even up the hill if the torque can pull it up
If you think this is still slow compared to other records like the GT2RS MR did, keep in mind that the car was running about 900HP during this day instead of it's full power (because of the extreme heat that day) and this was done during a trackday with other cars on track (instead of a closed track during other record attempts).
Still, if you think about it, 900 hp, that aero and slicks. I don’t know too much about the Nürburgring, but imo it should be quicker than that. I guess maybe the driver and the traffic make a large difference. (No offense to the driver of course!)
And the gt2 mr has less power then the 900 bhp
He also needs a couple of more gears...6 is not enough in that car...
Yeah and the GT2 RS did it with 700HP and less ridiculous areo. You just argued against the lambo
hansdietrich83 guys just the fact that there are other cars on the track makes a hugee difference, believe me a full closed course and a nice lap attempt would see this monster get a lap time of about 6:30 imo
I think that was the best lap I have seen especially with traffic. I am VERY Impressed, please ignore the trolls whom have no idea how to drive etc.....You are a wonderful driver, Congratulaioms You had me nervous on the edge of my seat. Wow that was fast, be safe and God Bless.
Thanks man!

Viper ACR: "Check out my wing"
Zyrus: "Hold my Bellini"
Having had an 2008 Viper ACR in my garage, black on black with the single red stripe over the drivers position, it was the most fun daily driver I've had. The sound of that wing thrumming and the cup tires roaring at over 100 mph during daily commutes to work was an amazing time in my life. If you want to go fast on the highway, 696 and I-94 are nirvana. Drive under 75 mph and you will be given the finger by guys in dodge minivans. Speeding mandatory in Metro Detroit.
I wish I could like this a thousand more times. Bravo JP
What pussy drinks a bellini
Wait, same car! But my viper ACR is widebody, but same color😅
Both are cool cars but the comparison is silly.
Pirelli’s having consistency
I'm late to the part but this video was fantastic!!! I really enjoyed the POV and found myself smiling all the way through the lap. It was over too soon it felt! Also, I love Lamborghini!!! So this was a double treat.
Respect also to the driver. For understanding that people on the track aren't racers. And they won't see him and have time to react all the time. As well as, keeping control of the car when the blowout happened.
Again, great video!!!
Wow! Absolutely amazing!! Crazy how fast that thing is!
I noticed how fast that thing was topping out...maybe a slightly longer final drive would shave off a few sec? I know it may be factory gears, or tuned for another track, etc. but may also add more stability w that much power.
Glad to see everyone and the car was ok end of day 2. Stay safe out there!
They honestly should do some kind of Time Attack event on Nordschleife.
Would be cool to watch, but it would also result in a lot of accidents and probably deaths..

Amazing. Most enjoyable lap I have watched of all the cars.
Nice Save. Thank goodness for the curve in the road
The fact that the time was done during the tourist hours of the nurbur is insane
actually it wasn't if you had watched the whole video. it was done on a private track day meaning it wasn't open for everybody but only a selected few and it was possible to do the whole flying lap (hence the black on white numbers on the side of the cars as seen for example at 0:12 on the lambo and the cars in the background). On tourist drive there is a toll gate on the main straight, where also the parking for tourist days is so you can't do a full lap. usually people who want to clock their progress on TF, use the so called BTG times meaning Bridge to Gantry.
@@Supermann124 And he also didn’t have to slow down at the emergency vehicle entry/exit, something you absolutely HAVE to do during TF
@@dylannix4289 well you're right but also wrong...you actually have to but almost noone does. people are lazy you know ;)

@martin riesco what did you do with the time you saved from writing nurber instead of completing it with -gring?
People seem to forget this was done on a track day with other drivers. Record runs are done on a closed track. Car is also not 100% dialed like factory cars are, so give it some time, and on a private track day, using the extra 300hp it has on tap, this thing will be a monster...not like it isnt already. Since it isnt limited due to aero, they could add a 7th gear and get some extra top speed
Yeag it definitely needs a 7th gear
Fastest time is 5:19. This car is STUPID fast dont get me wrong but the facts are there you're right ..if its DIALED in and apparently the market is switching electric quad motored or more, it just seems unwinnable for cars on the ⛽ side of the power each car receives:/
What ER said. For a “race” car it’s not the fastest. For a road car it’s fast but it’s also not road legal.
@@Velodictorian Could get that car registered in probably quite a few states here in the US, especially florida
Michael morales Doesn’t matter if it’s reg’d in the States. To run in TF or to be considered road legal needs to be approved by the TUV
Well this must have started as a fancy Lamborghini, but now it looks like something out of Mad Max. Beautiful race machine! I can imagine the seconds you would have shaved off that lap without traffic. By the way, that was a scary incident, I always worry about tires blowing out at high speed.
