Thanks for watching this video! If you're interested, I also have a walkthrough video of GoodNotes for the iPad here: ruclips.net/video/XSkgkOOe5ZE/видео.html ! Happy studying!
Janice Studies Hey janice! Congrats again on your engagement!🤗🌸 BTW, they did an update on notability for the highlighter and OMG much better! Thank you again for doing these videos for the note taking apps. Helped me for college a lot.💕
Am I the only one who prefers notability over goodnotes? 😂 I prefer how minimalistic notability is, and I see no use in designing notebook covers etc in goodnotes. I also prefer how all my notes can be displayed in one sidebar in notability since I switch between notes very often. Also if you’re someone who’s been using OneNote on windows laptops for so long (like me) notability is probably closest to that (so transitioning to notability isn’t too bad) since both apps are super minimalistic and the layouts of how notes are organised are pretty similar in both those apps. Also love love love the recording feature. Just putting my opinion! Overall I think its great for people who like to keep things simple.
i have good notes and notability and i also prefer notability! I like how its more organized on the left side, even though the goodnotes notebook cover style looks nice too, it's less organized. and hello! being able to record audio while taking notes its SO fab. I used to use this so much in nursing school.
I don't have my iPad quite yet (getting the new iPad Pro in a few days), and I am coming from being a surface user. I use OneNote all the time, which is why I always wanted to use Notability more than Goodnotes when I get my iPad. I'm also not a very creative person, nor do I have very nice writing, so I don't really care for all the customization of Goodnotes. Guess that's why Notability really appealed to me from the start. Not to mention that I'm in engineering and don't get the chance to use fancy colours and diagrams very often.. sad haha
Having tested both, I also prefer Notabiliy. Not only because it’s simplier, but two features afe a must for me: rotating selections a changing the width of the ink of a selection
In case anyone else is watching this in 2019, a lot of the negative features have been changed. You can partial erase. Convert to text no longer leaves a box. Very useful app.
I started using Notability on iPad2 back in college. It was quite revolutionary because whenever I do homework, I just import the PDF given by the lecturer, and I write on top of it. I then print it out and hand it over. Initially they were confused, but understood and accepted later. I also learned to get permission before doing such trick. This was also a great social tool in college. I get to share my notes and we can print and write on the paper to review lectures together. Don't forget that we can record sounds of lectures of those fast talking instructors.
i think the GIF option will be pretty helpful too, for example in my biology class, our teachers showed us, with gifs, different ways of the cell"s movements.
Thank you so much for making this video. It's really useful. I wish I had seen this earlier. Two features that are important to me is seeing two notes at the same time and I see that you can also copy and paste your handwriting.
A 2022 or 2023 update to this would be amazing! I've recently installed Goodnotes and Notability but feel most comfortable with Notability right off the bat. Thnx for the vid 💚
Thanks for sharing. There were a few options you showed that I wasn’t aware of. I went with notability over good notes for its recording ability. There’s a few things i dont like about it but until good notes can record too, I’m sticking with notability.
Ahh! Just found your channel, and I bought myself a 2018 iPad for Christmas to use for school next semester. Cannot wait to see how it goes! Thanks for the video! So helpful!
Thank you Janice! I got both the Goodnotes and Notepad apps but am starting with Notability first and your video was awesome - just what I needed. I watched another couple of your videos and I have to say they are absolutely perfectly edited and laser-sharp to the point. A big hug as you made me day !
I was watching a lot of videos between Notability and Good Notes, and I thought the zoom feature to have automatic line writing was only on Good Notes. I didn't realize it was also on Notability, so now I'm really glad I got it! Thanks!
Thank you so much. I bought GoodNotes when I first got my iPad in May this year because I didn't have enough time to research what note taking app I should get. Ultimately I went with GoodNotes because it was cheaper and I had already spent so much money on the iPad, the pencil and a case. GoodNotes is not by any means bad in comparison, but for my personal needs like being able to record lessons and having two pages side by side is something that I so badly need. I love how you explain straight to the point. No time wasted, thank you again! ☺️
Jut fyi, there's an option under the eraser to choose between partial stroke erasing and complete stroke erasing. 4:50 says that you can only do complete stroke erasing, which was changed.
ErinRose Winter I just got the new notability and I was wondering if there was a way to create a shape with a lower opacity as a filled colour compared to its border colour. (I chose to ask u as u are the newest comment lol (pls help))
Salted Nuts The third select it with the scissor tool, tap on the shape, click “Style,” then scroll in the color palate section. Choose the color with the opacity you want.
This video is super helpful! Still in the midst of struggling to pick between Notability and Goodnotes 5 but this gives me a great idea of what notability can do :)
There are more color options on the third page of colors (you can even make your own), also, you can choose between eraser types as well. There's one that erases the whole stroke, and there's another that only erases what you want it to.
For the text box issue, when you click it, you can select a paper option to match the background paper if you want. It's just not transparent so you have to line it up. As for the pen pressure, I find it works well as long as you pick one of the two smallest pen sizes to keep your handwriting looking good. I use a fountain pen on regular paper so I like the ability to alter the thickness of lines to make handwriting a little more personal.
Will it be worth it if i take apple pencil for 10.5 inch iPad pro 2017? Also will remembering things be as easy as things we study from a notebook ? I want to add diagrams to my notes and want to keep them accessible wherever i go.
I tried good notes 4 and 5 and also notability. What I can say is that notablity is definitelity better than goodnotes. It just feel more like a peper feeling, the feeling of real note taking is better notability.
I bought noteshelf 2 after goodnote because so many people keep mentioning about it. My advice is “just don’t” buy it . It does have more choices for papers and covers, and it’s easier to find the colour you like to write in. But it’s just “pretty” instead of “efficient”. The automatic adverse function is so delayed that you actually need to wait for it to happen, which annoys you a lot when you try to write fluently. And one more bug is you cannot move pictures with the writings already on them, which can be done so easily with goodnote. Also, in an imported PDF, noteshelf doesn’t support the “define” (touch to show the dictionary) function of iOS, which works for goodnote. And this bothers me as a foreign medical student. So many such little problems. I ‘m not saying noteshelf is useless, but it’s not “efficiency-friendly”. If time went back, I will definitely buy notability as a second try.
Hi Janice, I am looking to buy notability app for my university studies. However, I’m a little apprehensive due to the hefty price of 15 sg dollars. I’m currently using the free iPad notes app with my Apple Pencil. I’m wondering if the money is well spent on this app and is way better than the iPad free app for note taking? Thank you.
love it! thank you so so much for doing this! now when i get my ipad pro and take it to school i can easily take good notes :) i liked and subscribed! keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video! It’s amazing! I don’t know if it’s only at the time of this video that they didn’t have it, but now there is an option to erase part of a stroke. You just need to hold down the eraser icon on the top and it will give you the option.
Is there a way to delete multiple pages in Notability? Say you have a one hundred page document and need to delete half of them; deleting one page at a time will take forever. Thanks for your help.
I have both apps and I strongly believe Notability is much much better to use. I use it everyday, and once i got used to using the scroll-down system and the spontaneous recording, I couldn't go back to goodnotes
I had mistakenly opened two note side by side, and was ecstatic, but then I couldn’t do it again lol. Anyways your video really helped in showing me how I can do it again. Thank you
there appears to be another glitch in the process of highlighting text: once you insert text into your note at some later point, the text behind the insertion point will move down but the highlights will not, resulting in inappropriate highlighting behind the point of insertion. Worse, I don’t see how to modify/erase any existing highlighting...
Thanks for watching this video! If you're interested, I also have a walkthrough video of GoodNotes for the iPad here: ruclips.net/video/XSkgkOOe5ZE/видео.html ! Happy studying!
Janice Studies if u don’t like how the highlighter makes the black not black, lay down your highlighter first and then add your writing on top!
Janice Studies Hey janice! Congrats again on your engagement!🤗🌸 BTW, they did an update on notability for the highlighter and OMG much better! Thank you again for doing these videos for the note taking apps. Helped me for college a lot.💕
Reminder (For some people who might not know) : the highlighter doesn’t Overshadows your writings anymore !
Haroon Yousafi 😧😧😧
REALLY?? YAY!!
When u still have the 2012 version 😅
Thank youu i was tryna find this out
Very good video. When you are between 2 paid products and you can’t test them, videos like this are immensely helpful!
Tsuharesu P you can buy both Test them for 2 weeks and give one back.
$hervi does this mean you can get a refund?
wani no but at least you own both
I feel you
@@wojak6793 when you're too broke to own both ;^;

I couldn’t agree more. ✨

Exactly. Notability is so easy to organize. Simple.

Thank you, those were the only things holding me back from buying it. You just made my decision easy.
Thanks

I'm going into nursing this fall, thanks for showing me how to use this app
This was great, thank you! I already decided I wanted to download notability for classes but now I’m even more excited!
Stunning running review. Seriously. Really really Honest , which I love
i think the GIF option will be pretty helpful too, for example in my biology class, our teachers showed us, with gifs, different ways of the cell"s movements.

Bought iPad pro yesterday. Bought notability today. This video helped a lot.. thanks!! :)
your tip on holding the highlighter to make it a straight line is a lifesaver!!!!!!
tq so much
I am brand new to the IPad and notability and your video was extremely helpful. Thanks!
I’ve watched several notability tutorials. This was the most simplified and streamlined version. Can’t thank you enough!
A 2022 or 2023 update to this would be amazing! I've recently installed Goodnotes and Notability but feel most comfortable with Notability right off the bat. Thnx for the vid 💚
Such a great review. I've been contemplating getting this for when I get my new iPad and your video review has been super helpful. Thank you!
You are very articulate and a pleasure to listen to. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing. There were a few options you showed that I wasn’t aware of. I went with notability over good notes for its recording ability. There’s a few things i dont like about it but until good notes can record too, I’m sticking with notability.
That's one of the functions I wish GoodNotes had as well. Hopefully they come out with it soon and also have an option for infinite scrolling 😊
Notability is lifetime free or not
And where the files stored..
Should i use icloud
Or it stored to ipad memory
Ahh! Just found your channel, and I bought myself a 2018 iPad for Christmas to use for school next semester. Cannot wait to see how it goes! Thanks for the video! So helpful!
omg thank you so much this will really help in my assignment for 5th grade, tysm again

I watched another couple of your videos and I have to say they are absolutely perfectly edited and laser-sharp to the point. A big hug as you made me day !
Very informational video! I just ordered an iPad and decided that I’ll be using it for note taking this year!
this was the most helpful video i ever seen!!! thanks!!!!
I’ve been using Notability for a while but your video makes me realize several functions that I didn’t notice at all 😂 thank you so much!
Extremely useful for new user, thanks!!!
I was watching a lot of videos between Notability and Good Notes, and I thought the zoom feature to have automatic line writing was only on Good Notes. I didn't realize it was also on Notability, so now I'm really glad I got it! Thanks!
This was the review that sold me on notability. Thanks so much for making this video. :)
i have been using good notes since last semester but im thinking of getting notability for med school
YES! It took me so long to find this, but this is exactly what I needed. Exactly. 👩🍳💋
Thank you so much. I bought GoodNotes when I first got my iPad in May this year because I didn't have enough time to research what note taking app I should get. Been using Notability for months and never even knew I could view my notes side by side. 🤦🏻♀️
Jut fyi, there's an option under the eraser to choose between partial stroke erasing and complete stroke erasing. 4:50 says that you can only do complete stroke erasing, which was changed.
Thanks for this effective and comprehensive video. Especially about the highlight straight trick, love it!
Your channel is everything i need right now, thank you so much
Thank you for this! It was incredibly helpful. I just downloaded the app thanks to you!
They just updated the highlighter!

Thank you so much. Finally, I know how to draw a straight line.
You described in detail!!btw I love your accent👄
You can partial erase, you just have to click on the eraser again and it gives you that option as well as the thickness of the eraser.
I’ve heard that good notes has better writing feel and better page layouts.
There are more color options on the third page of colors (you can even make your own), also, you can choose between eraser types as well. There's one that erases the whole stroke, and there's another that only erases what you want it to.
i love u this is super useful 🥺💖
I love how professional and thoroughly your explanations. Can you do the same things for Notion apps on Ipad please.
Thanks for these great tips, I really enjoyed this. Simply in formative!
Really helpful beginner tutorial!

Coming from Good notes - Switching back to Good notes

Notability vs goodnotes 5?

TYSM i feel so thankful :))))
It is very clearly and helpful. Thanks
I'm here for your voice! :3
Very helpful, thank you!
Nice summary, very helpful.
love it! thank you so so much for doing this! now when i get my ipad pro and take it to school i can easily take good notes :) i liked and subscribed! keep up the good work!
The eraser has a partial eraser option!
you're the best! nice voice too!
I’m sold on this now. You sound like the girl from kodi nolimits . Great video
I feel like goodnotes is so much more user friendly and customizable
I feel that way as well!
and most importantly, the highlight pen doesn't overlay the words
Rachel Chui that’s fixed now
great video Janice!
Thanks for the video! It’s amazing! I don’t know if it’s only at the time of this video that they didn’t have it, but now there is an option to erase part of a stroke. You just need to hold down the eraser icon on the top and it will give you the option.
Awesome, so useful thankss
I love all of your videos
When u typed 你好 i was shocked hhhhhh your voice is so sweet ~
thank you this really helped!
Wonderful demo. But How to add some space, say in page 2 of a document with 15 pages. Sure, using cut tool would be clumsy. Any way out please?
Girls always masters taking notes ;)
Is there a way to delete multiple pages in Notability? Say you have a one hundred page document and need to delete half of them; deleting one page at a time will take forever. Thanks for your help.
Thank you for this!!!
Never thought you could fall in love with someone's voice :-) Great video though, nicely detailed and lucid walkthrough.
I have both apps and I strongly believe Notability is much much better to use. I use it everyday, and once i got used to using the scroll-down system and the spontaneous recording, I couldn't go back to goodnotes
Great video! What do you use to record a video like this (showing ipad screen and your voice)?
Please do an updated video for Notability 10. Seem to me quite a few updates to that you didn't like before
Excellent video thank you
Thank you so much that was helpful
why are all the ipad notes videos make by med students?
Same question I was about to ask
Awesome vid!!!!!
thank you so much
The eareser can also be chandail and you can just eares a bit jus double tap so umm yeah.
Very nice review
How do you write so neatly? Whenever I write it looks shaky and ugly 😭
I had mistakenly opened two note side by side, and was ecstatic, but then I couldn’t do it again lol. Anyways your video really helped in showing me how I can do it again. Thank you
Thank you
This apple pencil is great
Great video. For the convert to text, is there a select all function, instead of having to select by hand pages of text?
What features are immediately available versus those requiring in app purchases? And how much are the in app purchases?
Can I add a new page in between the existing pages?
Good review 👍
Thanks
Notability look more organise and simple but look not cool as compare to goodnotes 😅..
A more in depth review of Notability please 🙏
I. Love your voice, very good demo.
If goodnotes had audiorecording damn perfect
there appears to be another glitch in the process of highlighting text: once you insert text into your note at some later point, the text behind the insertion point will move down but the highlights will not, resulting in inappropriate highlighting behind the point of insertion. You should do an updated video :D the eraser has been fixed awhile now :)
Thank you!
