I use to have a 21 K5 GT. I bought the very first one that my local dealer got in stock back in June 21. It was a really nice car and it hurt some feelings against people who thought it was just a normal Kia in a race. Lol. I traded it in after 6 months and 12k miles for a brand new F150. I was just sort of bored with it. The fact that I was driving a Kia didn’t really sit well with the car enthusiast inside of me. But it was a great car at the end of the day. The big plus about the K5 GT over any other turbo performance 4-6 cylinder with this much power is the fact that Kia actually recommends 87 octane for this engine. Makes a big difference at the pump not being required to use premium.
@@dracorosso7129 I already have a 2007 Miata, a 84 Z28 Camaro, a Kawasaki Ninja to drive among a few other classic cars that my dad and I own. Also nothing is more comfortable to daily drive than a pickup truck. The K5 GT was the daily and it just wasn’t getting the job done in any category.

SH-AWD on the TLX is worth the money alone especially if you live in an area that could benefit from it. K5 GT could really use AWD, but won't ever get it because the Stinger exists. I'll definitely take the TLX all day every day however. K5 is definitely a nice buy and good looking car, but the TLX is just way above in terms of fit and finish inside and out as it is supposed to be from the start. Also objectively the best looking car in it's segment and under 50k, imo
@Ed Findlay Worth it if you can afford it. It's why it's in a tier above what the K5 is. Sure they share a lot of the same features, and it's good Kia offers them so affordably, but you're just not gonna get nearly the same level of driving performance and comfort as you would with the TLX. That's what you pay the extra $$ for. Not to mention something not on a spreadsheet, dealership experience AND resale value. The Acura will hold more value as time goes on vs what a Kia does.
I wonder what the resale will be in 5 years compared to the TLX or the Accord or even the Toyota Camry. Hopefully they will start to hold value. Great price though. That may make the difference.
@Toni Dinh Toyota just took a car off the lot for wheels falling off the BZ4RX and Toyota also had problems with their 8 speed when it came out. You really don’t understand how big a 10 year warranty is

@@porfiriato84 I guess i don’t know the difference 🤷🏿♂️I’m going to have to look this up and see. Kinda too late now as I have had the car now since 1/29. Either way I really like this Kia so far. One thing I’m noticing though is there seems to be something off with the aerodynamic design near or around the driver’s side mirror. I can hear the sound of wind whistling as I drive.
@@porfiriato84 I see the difference now. First, the GT trim, which is the highest trim level for the K5, and has a starting MSRP of $31,090, holds one major advantage over the rest of the K5 models and that is the mighty engine that powers it. While all of the other trims feature a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 195 lb.-ft. of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, the GT is the only model that has an even more powerful engine. The GT runs on a 2.5L turbo four-cylinder that generates 290 horsepower and best-in-class 311 lb.-ft. of torque paired with an 8-speed “wet” Dual Clutch Transmission that goes from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds. Only the GT can give you this level of power and torque for a most exciting and exhilarating drive.
doesn't matter, it's still a superior car. TLX has outdated interior and much worse styling on the 39K model(boring small wheels, chrome/silver trim, it's poor on purpose to upsell), less features too! K5 is also faster and has better brakes, proper exhaust, and the kia k5 undercuts by 2.5K w/ gt1 package (360 degree camera, ventilated seats, highway drive assist(acura doesn't have this! proper luxury feature, also has blindspot acura does not have that, safety features are superior on kia it has even more I'm not listing, big deal, also has much better sound system the bose 12 speaker, passenger's seat is 10 way power w/ power lumbar, acura has MANUAL(not a luxury experience for passenger), heated steering wheel, leather shift knob, memory seating, bigger sunroof, much faster transmission like a PDK, etc.) if you go higher trim above 40k mark acura TLX gets smashed by Genesis G70 or kia stinger 2.0 turbo(300hp)
Lets be honest. An Acura is an Acura at the end of the day. You can't compare it to a Kia. Also, the new Acura's have a much better styling, handling and interiors. The are just leagues better than a crappy Kia.
I love the look of this car , the only thing that kept me from buying one is the way it looks from the side. Idk if it’s the roof shape or what but it makes the tires look incredibly small, big body small tires . Pass
I’ve been a Kia Hyundai genesis fan for quite a few years now. For the most part I’ve been very happy with him. But the key five GT was so bad that I bought it and trade it two weeks later.
I never saw one for $32,000. Every GT I’ve seen on lots are close to $40k. For that price I am going with Elantra N given the tuning, limited slip and exhaust plus it’s cheaper. However, this is a great looking vehicle. If cheaper and with limited slip and better exhaust I would have went this route.
completely get the EN decision but you have to take into account that despite being the same price, you save a ton on fuel since the k5 takes 87 whereas you need premium for the EN.

Out of any midsize sedan this is the one to get. Great job Kia!! No other car can beat this performance at this price, also it looks very good and the interior is better than one would expect for under 35k these days. This car takes the crown hands down.
Yeah there's one for 31k at my local dealer, I'ma see if I can score it this week
All man I lied I just checked it's only the GT line. The GTs are like 37k. If I can fork up a 6k deposit then I might consider it 😭
Got 23 GT GT1 Package with the Lane Assist/Smart Cruise Control W/Stop & Go + Ventilated Seats in Glacier White.
SUPER RARE 🔥
Great video Joe! Do the Sister brand Hyundai Sonata N for 2023
You got it man!
Great review there, your driving in my old neighborhood of Countryside.
Thanks man! Good eyes!
I’d get the GT line over the GT.
I’d also get it anywhere other than Lokey
Orange DRL’s are amazing 🤩
If you're a car enthusiast why did you a giant truck?! 🤔 🤔
A Ford F-150 is not a car enthusiast vehicle it’s slow and heavy …
@@Empirestrikesbackkk I won’t argue that. But as a daily it fits my personality a lot better than a Kia and it’s a lot more comfortable. Plus it feels better to be back in a vehicle from the big three. Once you daily drive a pickup truck you never want to go back.
"didnt sit well," so you went for an f150. what a complete tool, you know the dodge ram wins comparison tests and has a way better sounding v8? the f150 sounds like shit.

Does the display move its aim toward u but when a passenger is in he will be controlling it. I don’t get the design unless it moves as in tilts his/ her way too or neutral in middle like Honda and Nissan
It has just the right amount of chrome.
I just wish it was dark chome.
i have a 24 forte gt line. i hate the side boltering. are the k5 seats any wider. what can i do about the forte seat. im over 200 lbs. too tight on the sides.
A friend of mine had a loaded 2021. Nothing but trouble. He had it towed to the dealership at least a half dozen times with all sorts of problems. You name the problem and his car had it. He traded it in for a 22 Accord sport. Kia is today’s version of a Yugo.
Yeah I'm not a fan of either Kia or Hyundai. Make mine HONDA, please. 😉👍
Sounds like a piece of crap Nissan...stick with Honda!
I figured this was the modern day Nissan Altima
I have a 2022 fully loaded K5 GT. No problems at all
your friends first mistake was buying a first year model car. you always wait for the 2nd iteration atleast.
I would like to trade my gtline in for a wolf grey GT. Great reveiw!
Still can't find K5 here in Arizona smh
They are seriously hard to find.
@@RaitisRides I'm waiting it out lol
Stinger GT-Line coming anytime soon?
I'm planning to get either a K5 GT or a Stinger GT-Line around the new year! Whichever is available, really. What would yall suggest?
I would go Stinger personally.
@@RaitisRides Thanks for the reply! That's what I'm leaning towards, honestly. But I'd be happy with either.
Stinger Gt-line is a no brainer.

I can’t wait for the 2023 Elantra N
Stay tuned Hector!
I have one ElantraN 2023 on order
I wish the gauges were digital. No LSD?? Would they be a deal breaker?? Seems like a nice car overall but that's a lot of torque to the front wheels

Turn "singles"?🤔

SH-AWD on the TLX is worth the money alone especially if you live in an area that could benefit from it. K5 GT could really use AWD, but won't ever get it because the Stinger exists. I'll definitely take the TLX all day every day however. K5 is definitely a nice buy and good looking car, but the TLX is just way above in terms of fit and finish inside and out as it is supposed to be from the start. Also objectively the best looking car in it's segment and under 50k, imo
You can't beat the AWD from Acura.
Check again. And Joe how did you not correct the op? This 23 K5 does have AWD available.
@@porfiriato84 k5 GT DOESNT have AWD
@Ed Findlay Worth it if you can afford it. It's why it's in a tier above what the K5 is. Sure they share a lot of the same features, and it's good Kia offers them so affordably, but you're just not gonna get nearly the same level of driving performance and comfort as you would with the TLX. That's what you pay the extra $$ for. Not to mention something not on a spreadsheet, dealership experience AND resale value. The Acura will hold more value as time goes on vs what a Kia does.
This guy always remind me of that old 80/90 TV commercials lol
I wonder what the resale will be in 5 years compared to the TLX or the Accord or even the Toyota Camry. Hopefully they will start to hold value. Great price though. That may make the difference.
@Toni Dinh 10 YEAR WARRANTY

Wonder how the DCTs are holding up in this application?? Hearing about issues in the Santa Fe/Sorrento.
Honestly I love this car and very hesitant to see if the 2024 has any added stuff to it before I buy it but I would love for it to be an AWD and have a HUD at least
More like a digital instrument panel like the elantran N.
I don't think the K5 GT will ever be AWD unless you get the GT Line. If they were to make the GT AWD then the Stinger would sell even less.
@@Yoshee717 now that the Stinger is discontinued it's too bad they didn't add AWD to 2024 K5 GT.

@@YellowCab524 nah dude. A GT not gt line. Dont you understand the difference? You realize this video is for the GT NOT the GT line?
@@porfiriato84 I guess i don’t know the difference 🤷🏿♂️I’m going to have to look this up and see. Kinda too late now as I have had the car now since 1/29. Either way I really like this Kia so far. One thing I’m noticing though is there seems to be something off with the aerodynamic design near or around the driver’s side mirror. I can hear the sound of wind whistling as I drive.
@@porfiriato84
I see the difference now.
Not in the same class as the TLX. However, it’s a great alternative to the Honda Accord.
doesn't matter, it's still a superior car.
@@roboticvenom1935 your entire statement is like 99% inaccurate lol

Lets be honest. An Acura is an Acura at the end of the day. You can't compare it to a Kia. Also, the new Acura's have a much better styling, handling and interiors. The are just leagues better than a crappy Kia.
@@ApohanSaxena 100% accurate. I’m sure the Kia fans will disagree however lol
Where the 2023 Corolla refresh at? Including the hatches?
I believe there is only a GT1 for the k5. The one in the video is the standard GT.
Brother got this car; it's great but my own gripe was the infotainment seemed a little slow in response compared to my vehicle which was a 2018.
I love the look of this car , the only thing that kept me from buying one is the way it looks from the side. Idk if it’s the roof shape or what but it makes the tires look incredibly small, big body small tires . Pass
Then get bigger wheels, tf? 😂 They looked completely fine to me up close and in person

I just mention MSRP. Not all dealers charge martkup. Especially that high of markup.
9:55 is so funny. The pause before he hit the..."about your infotainment systems" LOOL.
I’ve been a Kia Hyundai genesis fan for quite a few years now. For the most part I’ve been very happy with him. But the key five GT was so bad that I bought it and trade it two weeks later.
I am so sorry to hear about the issues that you had. What was wrong with it!
Share what you experienced, please!
Why didn’t you like it?
Stop lying you never owned one lair
Finally ! I ordered a custom built 23 gt in Wolfe grey gt1 package and still waiting . Dealership said 8-12 months .
Concur... I wanted one, didn't see it for less than 40k. Went with th3 forte gt.
Raiti's has to be the best reviewer out there. wouldnt even consider a car unless he's reviewed it. hes my height. hes in florida, so if he is comfortable, I am comfortable. looking at this car seriously and if I buy one. I'll be sure to tell KIA. is was this video that convinced me.
I'd take the Acura any day, especially for a performance model. Kia's image is certainly much better than it once was but hearing about reliability issues is not an uncommon occurrence...
Same here!
Today, Both acura and kia/hyundai/genesis are pretty much the same in terms of reliability... it's not 2004 anymore
I was behind a newer KIA SUV today that was blowing blue smoke every time the driver accelerated.
Acura's reliability is average. Kia's reliability is one of the top 5.

No changes from 22? No digital dash still.
Both KIA and Hyundai have been killing it with its exteriors AND interiors! I feel like the best color for the K5 GT is grey, looks absolutely great.
The white looks great in person. I believe the white and the grey cost extra
What can I say, good job with the analysis like always!
Why would finding a black kia be so hard? Black is probably the most basic colour out there
Because of how many are produced with the supply shortages.
My new 23 GT line is fully loaded at 29k…. Ridiculous! Glacier White with red interior and GD flat screen Tv in dash!! These are sweet!!
The 2021 K5 is a great car, I loved driving it. But have they fixed the security lock issues? A whole industry of car thieves (Kia boys) thrives on how easy it is to hotwire & steal Kias and Hyundais
Those are base older Hyundai and Kia models, not the new ones. Do your research.
Those issues aren't on the push to start.
From what I understand they have done an update.
