This is truly a masterpiece. The skill (let alone the equipment!) to produce imagery like this is beyond anything i've seen in macro videography. Phenomenal.
Maybe the best macro video I've ever seen. Beautiful work. Great editing, music, and framing shots as well. I've been diving since 1968...an UW photog since about 1971....Your video was magical stuff. I hope to move to the Philippines as soon as the current craziness subsides....to again concentrate on photographing underwater....maybe to Batangas. But I appreciate the talent , skill (diving and photo), to see and discover the tiny things, the patience to wait, the lighting, getting the damn thing in focus when the current is moving.....all of that. Bravo!
Thank you for your wonderful video, one of the best underwater shooting video. Moreover thank you for equipment information, it help me to learn more on underwater video.
Amazing flim!!!! I am going to Anilao in May 2020 for the first time and wishing me that I would also see some thing like this film. Thank you great job!
Wonderful! We dived Philippines many years ago but not been here, it looks to have amazing macro life. Beautifully shot and edited, great work Stephen.
I've been diving Anilao, Batangas since 1959 Stephen. Have seen thousands of photos / films of the underwater critters in and around Balayan Bay, Batangas Bay, Maricaban, Mindoro, Verde Island, etc and must declare YOUR videos and photos ARE THE BEST ON PLANET EARTH. Wow Stephen you truly have a gift. Be well and continue to apply your unique skills / technique. Bravo may you live to be a 100 years!
Wow! Thank you so much intrademan! I really appreciate your kind words. I hope you live 100 years and more too. There is such beauty in this world to see. I'm happy to share.
I love your video! It's so pure. Exactly what I asked for in the search bar. Too many youtubers make their videos about themselves, or they market their girlfriend's body to keep the casual fan interested, like she's an object, a means to a more lucrative end. It's sad really. Anyway, you gave me exactly what I was looking for. Amazing job!
Stephen Martin doing great. Too bad we weren't in the Philippines at the same time. That would have been a pleasant surprise. Trying to figure out where we're going next.
Awesome work, Stephen. Headed to Crystal Blue early next month for a workshop. I love my GH-5 but it looks like I have a lot to learn to get to where you are. Great color!
Thanks for the preview, Stephen! Meeting Tracey over there in a couple of weeks. We’ll be doing Aldora East, as several of us at Blue Crystal that week dive together here... It will be my first trip to the South Pacific. :)
Stephen, I was planning a trip to that area and came across your video. I echo what was said, one of the best marco shots I have seen. Just curious on the equipment and your set-up if you can share!
Thanks Alex. Appreciate it! I have the complete list of equipment in the video's description. It's a GH5 setup in a nauticam housing. Still using the same setup but with the GH5m2. Hope you get to go there and have an awesome time!
@@StephenMartin001 Yes of course! I missed that out and now some other questions answered. You also use tripod to aid. Wishing I could achieve that level as I embark on my new hobby. Cheers.
I'm new to diving, but have watched a lot of diving videos as the Philippines is at the top of my bucket list and this is next level quality. Seriously, perhaps as good or better than the Blue Planet tv series. How many dives did it take to get this footage?
Thanks Aaron! Really appreciate your kind comments. I did 44 dives over 11 days in Anilao. It's great to be able to do so many dives in a place with such magnificent creatures. I hope you get to visit there soon.
Thanks Stephen for this spectacular video! We are going to Anilao this spring for the first time. I see in your equipment list the ScubaLamp. Can you tell me if you are able to get black background with that video snoot? How do you like that lamp and when do you use it over using your other video lamps? Thanks again for this video, we have watched your other videos also, Jack
Thanks Jack. I really like the scubalamp video snoot. However, I think they've stopped making them. Yes, you can get the black background with it. I use it on small subjects. For larger subjects I have a flip snoot mounted on a sola 500. And for even larger subject I just use the sola 500. I'll have another video posted, perhaps this weekend, from Ambon where I use the video snoot almost exclusively. Thanks for watching and have a great trip. Anilao is awesome!
@@StephenMartin001 Hi again Stephen, about the flip snoot on the Sola - is that a DIY built or an OEM flip mount? In Anilao subjects would you use the ScubaLamp or the Sola snoot? I see that Kraken has a small video snoot lamp with a pencil type snoot that can be added, have you looked at that? Can't wait to see your new video also! Thanks, Jack
@@skibarron The sola flip snoot is 3D printed. I bought is from this website: www.uwcamerastore.com/onderwaterhuis-nl-flip-snoot-pro-for-light-motion-sola-light I've tried several video snoots including the Kraken, ScubaPro and Bluewater snoot light. I've found that snoot lights that have a screw on tube are not very good. The tube blocks a lot of the light and reduces the output. The scubalamp video snoot uses a lens to focus the light and is brighter. I have my camera setup with three lights. The video snoot, sola 500 with flip snoot and a sola 3800 flood. I use them in this manner: Scubalamp video snoot: When the subject is small, perhaps 3 inches max, and I want to isolate the subject from the background (when the background is sand or otherwise not very pretty). Sola 500 with flip snoot in place: When the subject is medium macro sized and I want to isolate it from the background. Sola 500 with flip snoot not in place: When the subject is larger macro subject and I want to isolate it from the background. Sola 3800 flood: When the subject is variable in size and on a pretty background I want to illuminate. This can also be filler light used with the snoot to light up the background, but also emphasize the subject. You'll get the hang of which sized subject requires what light. Hopefully this is helpful information.
@@StephenMartin001 WOW Stephen, thanks for all the information. That helps a lot! And thank you for your time in helping a starting out underwater photographer!
Thanks sineTwo. Yes, I had a really great stay at Crystal Blue Resort. I'd go back. Really liked the camera room. Got in 44 dives in 11 days and our guide was great! However, I've only been to Anilao once, so I don't have a basis of comparison. I recommend it though.
We saw a couple hairy frog fish. The larger black one was known to the dive guide. It seems like this information is shared amongst the guides to help the guests find all the critters they want to see. We saw the black hair frog fish on two separate dives by request. The smaller hairy one we found by chance.
Beautiful video 😊, I want to go!!! You have a new fan! I just got the gh5 and you are officially one of my references 👍I make videos too if you want to check & sub. Regards Bruno

You’ve convinced me to dive in Anilao and schedule Palawan sometime in the future!
Amazing video! Very impressive!
Thanks a lot Sean!
😍 I LOVE BEAUTIFUL VIDEO LIKE THIS 🤣💖 👌👍
Great video Stephen! Karla and I went to Anilao in February.
Thanks Steven. Well, we must have just missed you. We were there in February as well! Perhaps we swam pass one another under water!

How’d you do that? So vivid and lot os different species. Amazing shots. My father was native of Batangas but I haven’t dove in Anilao.

You're going to love it Sallye! Hope you have a great trip and see lots of amazing creatures! Try not to get addicted to the South Pacific.
You can go Tubbataha Reef diving in Palawan, Philippines and in Balicasag Island, Panglao,Bohol, Phlippines.
I would love to go to all of those places!

How much does it cost for scuba diving as a beginner?? I want to try scuba diving in Anilao this coming month of July sir Stephen 🙂
